i learned about Tim Wong who successfully and singlehandedly repopulated the rare California Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly in San Francisco. In the past few years, he’s cultivated more than 200 pipevine plants (their only food source) and gives thousands of caterpillars to his local Botanical Garden (x)

A friend of mine developed an issue in her body where eating made her physically ill. She couldn't eat. Already, she was quite thin and thus of course, made her scarily thin. A grown woman easily 95-110 lbs . She had to have a pretty big surgery to fix the issue.
And while she was recovering, the head nurse of her section told her, "At least you're healthy." And the way she said it, my friend knew she meant her weight and made her eventually say it plainly, "at least you are thin and healthy."
My friend had to then state directly, "I wasn't. I was malnourished, and I could have died. If I had been fatter, I would be better off now because I would have had something to sustain my body."
This nurse insisted she was wrong.
Because of course everyone wants to be thin and "healthy".
Meanwhile, I remember my friend crying because she feared she'd die from starvation before she reached 24.
fatphobia and ableism is so insidious. You can look up like, food, and it'll say "eating a lot of food causes diabetes" and you're like oh dang what? I thought we didn't know the cause of diabetes. So you look up what causes diabetes and it says "we still don't know what causes diabetes" bruh they're just making shit up to give people eating disorders
