One of the most deserved Emmy wins in history was Andre Braugher for his work as Det. Frank Pembleton on Homicide: Life on the Street. (That show alone is worth signing up for Peacock to watch.) He also won for his work on the mini-series Theif, and was nominated for his more recent, and also excellent work as Captain Holt on Brooklyn 99 (two iconic cops, two iconic shows, and that’s only skimming his career!). We lost a legend.
Since Homicide is an older show (and was not available on streaming for way too long), here’s a taste of his work on one of the best cop shows ever:

"I don't want to read this" is totally valid.
"This is disgusting to me" is totally valid.
"I don't want to read this because it is disgusting to me" is totally valid.
"I don't think anyone should be allowed to read or write this because it is disgusting to me" is authoritarian.

Your personal triggers and squicks do not get to determine what kind of art other people make.
People make shit. It's what we do. We make shit to explore, to inspire, to explain, to understand, but also to cope, to process, to educate, to warn, to go, "hey, wouldn't that be fucked up? Wild, right?"
Yes, sure, there are things that should be handled with care if they are used at all. But plenty more things are subjective. Some things are just not going to be to your tastes. So go find something that is to your tastes and stop worrying so much about what other people are doing and trying to dictate universal moral precepts about art based on your personal triggers and squicks.
I find possession stories super fucking triggering if I encounter them without warning, especially if they function as a sexual abuse metaphor. I'm not over here campaigning for every horror artist to stop writing possession stories because they make me feel shaky and dissociated. I just check Does The Dog Die before watching certain genres, and I have my husband or roommate preview anything I think might upset me so they can give me more detail. And if I genuinely don't think I can't handle it, I don't watch it. It's that simple.

Yea absolutely! But I feel we need to understand though that “choose not to warn” is the writer choosing to give the reader the wilderness experience. Please pay attention to the tags (or lack of thereof if they have tagged it choose not to use archive warnings) and remember you might get dragons if you choose to proceed.
'If you're upset something isn't tagged on a fic you're clearly not reading enough books'
I do read books. Admittedly not as many as I would like but enough to know that fics are not books and work differently.
When I pick up a book, I'm heading out into the wilderness. I have a general idea what the terrain is going to be like but no idea what wildlife I'll encounter. I am fully aware I'm in 'here there'll be dragons' territory.
When I go on ao3 I'm going to the zoo, where I know where to find which animal in a neatly labeled enclosure. If I hate snakes I steer clear of the reptile house and watch the penguins instead. And yes, if a surprise snake appears in the penguin enclosure I'm going to be upset by that.

hoooly shit, have you ever seen the poster for the 1944 movie 'Gaslight' (i.e. the movie that originated the term gaslighting). It's SO similar to the Loumand poster. It might be a coincidence but hmmm. I remember one of the cast (Sam I think) saying the show was exploring the theme of gaslighting, and idk if you agree, but I never felt like that really applied to Loustat. Lestat kept secrets, but it never felt like he gaslighted Louis to me. I could def see it applying to Loumand tho.
Oh definitely!!!
Armand (canonically) gaslights Louis into loving him, the Loumand in Paris is very far from healthy, and based in/on Armand’s obsession with Lestat… that the Loumand poster is echoing the Gaslight poster is definitely no coincidence and just proves what an insanely good cast and crew we have!!! 😭🙌🙌🙌

There is simply not a single US president I would have saved over Talos. Oh it's gonna start WW3? That doesn't sound like my problem.
