IT WASN'T HIS FIRST NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE, and it probably won't be his last. But this is the first time in a long time that Nigel can recall someone expressing concern over it, someone caring enough to worry if he lived or died.
He can't help but be charmed, even if the person in question is definitely forbidden fruit -- Will Graham is his brother's property, marked clearly and explicitly long before Nigel ever met him. And Hannibal had never been one to share his toys. ( The danger makes the temptation fiercer, the eventual taste all the more sweet. He may be Adam in this metaphor, the second to taste, but Adam was cast out alongside the first to bite. )
