Annual rewatch of this and I reiterate it! They’re so fucking gay it hurts!!!!
They were cowards to not explicitly make Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett lovers in Oceans 8! Give use the sapphic relationship that we all crave!

There's a game I like to play when having a festering in bed and watching films all day. Thought I'd share it with others.
Step one: pick a film that you're in the mood for.
Step two: when picking the next film, it must star an actor from the previous film.
Repeat the steps until you've had enough of the films.
Today's film journey was as follows:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (don't judge me, I love it!)
Live-action Cinderella (Lily James)
Live-action Alice in Wonderland (Helena Bonham Carter)
Princess Diaries (Anne Hathaway)
Pretty Woman (Hector Elizondo)
Notting Hill (Julia Roberts)
Paddington 2 (Hugh Grant)
Started Star Dust (Julian Rhind-Tutt) but got film tired so didn't keep watching
Any one else do this? Or is this just the madness that is me?

London DND players, I need your help.
I’ve been trying for ages to go into a campaign but I still haven’t managed. Anyone know of any campaigns with an open slot? I want to actually start playing

There should be more books that have chapter titles, and then a little summary of the chapter below them. You don't have to be boring with them, or spoil the whole chapter by telling what happens - you could make it vague, like a prophecy of something you know is going to happen, but you don't know how, or with what results.
Having one-sentence summaries like "Chapter 12 - where the Queen's hound makes a fatal mistake" and you're like oh shit does this refer to the queen's actual hunting dog, or the guy that's mockingly called her lapdog? "Chapter 24 - where justice finds a thief, and a thief finds justice" and you're like ooooh shit the cute little pickpocket is going to get caught, and then it turns out that shit, she does get caught, but by someone who actually agrees that she's right to steal to help feed her family, and gets her help instead, which is justice.
You already know what's going to happen, but not how.

Say what you want about the 2023 Shakespeare in The Park production of Hamlet, but the choices made in that play WORKED. Having Hamlet wear a black hoodie and camo pants and him dramatically putting his hood up when he was pissed off was inspired. Having Horatio video tape Claudius on an iPhone camera from the side of the stage during the play within the play was hilarious. Having the play within the play be a hip hop dance number that represented the murder!?! Fantastic. Having Ophelia be a singer before she went mad and having a beautiful voice that everyone loved to listen to and then seeing her singing get worse and worse as she got nearer to death?!?! Hamlet pulling out his iphone after killing Polonius to show his mom a picture of his dad compared to a picture of Claudius and angrily swiping back and forth between the two as he said “What judgement would step from this… to this?” The crowd fucking lost it every time. Horatio singing to Hamlet as he died made me fully sob every time. The way they did the ghost on stage was so chilling and I can’t even accurately describe it, you just had to be there. Hamlet being deeply exasperated the entire time was just perfect. Hamlet and Horatio had a secret handshake. Laertes inexplicably carried an acoustic guitar case for much of the play which was very funny but also hit you with the heartbreaking implication that he had used to play while Ophelia sang and he stopped carrying it after she died. It was peak teenage-angst-hamlet and it was so dear to me. PLEASE if anyone has a recording, send it to me.

i like to think if annabeth and percy ended up living around mortals they would tell their friends abt some of the stuff they went through bc they can’t really hide it forever except they make it sound like their family’s part of the greek mafia
a lot of “yeah my dads…influential…in greece”
or “my moms,,pretty powerful in greece,, yeah she’s up there lol..anyway”
like they make it sound like maybe poseidon and athena are two “business CEO’s” who butt heads but everyone thinks their two mafia leaders who hate eachother
annabeth slips up and brings up the 7 months percy was missing and they have to cover it up saying his aunt, on his dads side, sent him away to a boarding school in greece where he wasn’t able to contact anyone here in america
“yeah we don’t really talk to her after..that..”
it doesn’t help that their friends can hear them hiss in greek to each other when they don’t want them to know what their saying
or when their stretching in a certain way that makes their shirt ride up and there are obvious scars hidden underneath
and it honestly all makes sense just going off the vibes of the two of them so no one really questions it because who would and anytime either of their parents appear shifted into their mortal counterparts everyone keeps their eyes downcast

Okay but. A movie/show adaptation of the Silmarillion where we never ever see the Silmarils. The closest we ever come is when Maedhros and Maglor steal them, in a chest, and we only see light coming out of the chest, never the stones.
They're such a beautiful light that nothing would do them justice, right? The whole scene of Beren cutting out the Silmaril is focused on Lúthien singing and Morgoth's hand twitching while Beren is muttering off-screen ("Manwë's butt, the cursed knife broke!"). Fëanor announces the creation of the Silmaril in public but he's seen from the back the entire time, we never see him wear them. Beren's severed hand comes out of Carcharoth's stomach with the fist closed around the stone, we can only glimpse the light.
We similarly never properly see Morgoth, or any of the Valar, they're always hooded/we only see their hands or feet or silhouette from very far away. We see no more of the two Trees than representations in stone or paintings, and the whole Valinor part is probably narrated by a voice-over, and maybe even entirely told through a visual framing that means we never see it either (paintings? theatre play? puppet show? idk there are plenty of options).
At the end we're left to wonder if the Silmarils ever really existed, if the Valar really waged war, or if it's all just a story the elves told to justify their endless wars...

The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes

HOLY SHIT OKAY SO TITANS CURSE DANCE SCENE EXCEPT THE SONG THAT PLAYS... IS LOVER.
either on olympus or during the school/nico and bianca scene.
oh and also, the first dance at the school, annabeth is trying to make eye contact and percy is looking anywhere but in her direction... and when they dance on olympus? the roles have changed. Now HE'S making eye contact or trying to, after spending the whole quest looking for her. not Luke. not Artemis. ANNABETH.
She's looking anywhere but in his direction, maybe feeling a bit self conscious being in the presence of the gods and being shaken after another betrayal by Luke and holding up the sky and everything but they are together.
i just think it'd be everything to have their positions mirror one another. annabeth staring at percy during an intimate school dance like they never got... and percy staring at her surrounded by this world he's now a part of after almost losing her AGAIN.

would love it if the last god/goddess percy has to do a quest for is hestia. and all she only asks of him a simple, easy-to-do, done in two minutes task. and then that's it. no tricks or double meanings. and he just sobs into her shoulder at the end of it. and she just holds him and tells him that he's all done. he can go live his life now.

zeus: ok, you broke the pact. what’s done is done. just tell me which abilities you gave him, so at least i know what we’re dealing with
poseidon: ...all of them
zeus: ok but from which of your roles? sea god, stormbringer, or earthshaker?
poseidon: ...all of them
zeus:
zeus: you’re not serisouly telling me he has domain over air and land and the sea?
poseidon: er, actually, it’s not just the sea. any water, really. lakes, rivers, ice, plumbing,...potentially bodily fluids...
zeus: you- WHY DID- WHAT WERE YOU-
zeus: *takes a deep breath*
zeus: anything else?
poseidon: *looks at list*
poseidon: er, yes. he immediately heals when he touches water.
zeus: what?
poseidon: well, you know, i figured with all the danger he’ll face, potential child of the prophecy and all, he should be able to automatically regenerate
zeus: that- that’s not even a thing!
poseidon: well...it is now!
zeus:
poseidon:
zeus:
poseidon: he can also speak to horses
zeus: *throws lightning bolt at the wall*

did anyone else ever find it odd how easily zeus offered percy godhood? and how it almost seemed like he secretly wanted percy to accept? well i did, and after thinking long and hard about it…
i don’t think percy understood what turning down godhood really meant
demigods do tasks for the gods because they don’t have to follow any rules. they aren’t controlled by anyone or anything. demigods are a strange hybrid - not god, not human. they are in between the laws of immortal and mortal. they are not supposed to exist. yet they do, which is what makes them so extraordinary.
percy is crazy powerful. of course, there’s the aspect of raw power. he has domain over air (storms/hurricanes), land (earthquakes and volcanic eruptions), and sea (monster waves, tsunamis, floods, basically anything that involves water.) he can control bodily fluids. he has super strength (with one hand, he held up an unconscious annabeth who was being pulled down by both arachne AND the forces of tartarus). he has super speed (he moves faster than bullets in TTC). no matter how badly you hurt him, he automatically heals and regenerates the second he touches water (an ability no other demigod has). he’s an extraordinary swordsman. very skilled in combat and warfare. he’s smart, and thinks of plans quickly. but he also has a great deal of social/poltcial power… i mean, he’s a leader and hero to both the greek and roman camps. if he says “attack,” all demigods, greek or roman, attack. no question. do you have any idea how threatening that is to the olympians? he’s also best friends and has an empathy link with the lord of the wild, which basically means all of nature is by his side too, including all land creatures. he’s also prince of horses, which means pegasi too (both of which are extremely useful in battle). and of course all sea creatures, including the mythical ones like krakens and leviathans. not to mention many of the gods really like him. hermes, hephaestus, athena, aphrodite, and dionysis have all gone out of their way to help him. artemis holds him in high regard, especially since he saved her. apollo literally considers him his friend! and poseidon - his dad, the god who is the biggest threat to zeus - is fiercely protective of him and cares about him a great deal. many minor gods also like him because he demanded them to be given more respect and for their kids to be welcomed at the camps.
percy unknowingly has more power, both physical and social/political, than anyone should ever have. he may have absolutely no idea, but it must scare the living daylights out of zeus. by accepting zeus’s offer to become a god, percy would have submitted himself to the control of zeus. zeus would be his king and ruler. zeus would then have complete control over him.
but percy said no. therefore, percy remains out of zeus’s control.
percy had no idea what he was doing. but thank the gods he made that choice. thank the gods he’s an incredible person. thank the gods percy jackson has no desire for power, because he has more of it than anyone should ever be able to have.
