Changeling

The original Changelings were byproducts of the old Fae tradition of stealing children to raise them within the Fae Forests. Changelings were made of clay and wood, and filled with Magic to replace the stolen children. Now, though, there are vast communities of Changelings who have never heard of their origins. Many even refuse to walk in their natural state, which is more akin to that of a clay person than one made of flesh and bone.

Body. Changelings take after most humanoids in their body shape. They are of Medium size and can move up to 30 units in a turn.

Memory of the People. Because of a Changelings ability to shift and morph into other humanoid forms, they have always needed to memorize the faces of other humanoid creatures. Changelings can perfectly recall any face or body that they have fully seen and studied for at least 10 minutesForm of the People. A Changeling can turn themselves into any humanoid. Many choose to create a form using features from other people and creatures they have seen, and a few choose to completely recreate others. Either way, they may spend 1 minute shifting into another form, so long as they do not add any auxiliary appendages such as wings or a tail.

You stop and look to see your best friend doubled over, wheezing. “Nevermind.” He coughs out. “Now what?”

Step One: Make a Character

Your best friend turns away as you say that, obviously flustered. "You have a way of saying things, y'know?" He says while he shakes his head. "But what does that mean?"

You shift your internal focus away from the array of people, and find . . . nothing. You feel nothing but the web of people and darkness inside of you, and the pulse of your friend only five feet away.

In a way, it's comforting, the fact that-

As you feel more and more and more possibilities of who you could be, you start to focus on how to be them. As you focus, there’s a sense of dread that rises from the pit of your stomach, and wraps it’s hands around your throat. You… don’t want to know how to be them anymore.

“I’m not sure. Why don’t we meet somewhere and find out?” You ask.

The two of you meet up by a riverside bank that nobody goes to this late into fall. Your best friend stands in front of you, arms crossed.

“Now, focus deep inside yourself.

“I also had a pretty strange dream.” You start, and you proceed to explain the strange dream, and the loud noise that filled your head after pressing both options.

There’s a few moments of silence as you finish. “Well,” he says, “have you felt any different after that?”

You think about it. Weirdly, yes, something is different. But you can’t put your finger on what.

He starts to detail his dream, which had to do with you and your group of friends driving around on missions as spies. And also all of you could turn into animals.

"The strangest part was that near the end it got really loud and you were gone from the dream. Which was an issue because you were driving, but whatever it's a dream. Anyways, how are you this morning?" He asks you after the spiel is over.

You look at the caller ID, and recognize the name of your best friend. Deciding that it'd be more trouble to ignore him than to answer him, you hit Accept Call.

"Hey, I have to tell you about the strangest dream I had."

You close your eyes to try and go back to sleep, to maybe see if you could get more information. As you’re about to drift off, your phone starts to ring.

You recognize the ringtone.

Out of curiosity, you press both Aware/Control and Disguise/Ressurect. Everything seems to slow down, and multiple text boxes appear reading "CHOICE SELECTED" over and over again.

There's a loud buzzing, and you open your eyes to your room.
