it took everything in astraeus's power not to pout, but a little bit peaked through in his subtle frown and furrowed brow. he didn't like not having the upper hand, or equal hand, or any hand that could erase the smarmy grin off of her face. his arms crossed, and with a soft huff, he looked away as she transformed as though disinterested.
he preferred the tiny fluffball.

"no touchy," aster quickly hissed when distracted by her nimble fingers beneath his chin, swatting her hand away. "i'm not at liberty to give that much info, so if what i said isn't ringing any bells..."
aster was very much debating simply abandoning ship, but... what if she did know something?
"i'm looking for somebody very important who went missing over a year ago. just, poof, vanished. there's been no sign of them until recently, and i wanna stay on top of it before the trail goes cold. so have you seen anybody? pleaaaase--he's SUPER important, cannot overstate the importance."

a collection of plot ideas for The Lads(TM).
astraeus:
per his role at lunar security, astraeus hunts and eliminates threats to humanity, but has to do so discreetly and without drawing any attention, as this is supposed to be a secret. ur muse finds him in the middle of a kill, and whether they realize he's a demon or not, he WILL be heckling them to try to keep it a secret. he's not allowed to kill a witness simply for being a witness, so best he's got is plsplsplsplsPLS don't tell my daaaaad--
one night stand nonsense. he is horny, he is everywhere, he isn't supposed to be sleeping around yet he is. there is 50/50 chance he gets attached when he shouldn't.
ur muse is one of his targets. shenanigans occur.
u encounter astraeus as a kitty, and he accidentally speaks. u are now forcibly inducted sailor moon style into being his sidekick by helping him sneak into places where his targets are. enjoy ur new talking shape-shifting cat, he will use ur shoulders as the perfect vehicle when his little legs are tired.
phorus:
ur muse is hired for one reason or another at lunar security. a guard, a receptionist, whatever it is, something that lets u get a peek into maybe that mysterious ceo guy is hiding a lot. no it isn't an affair or money laundering he's just secretly a giant cat.
speaking of giant cats, sometimes phorus likes to go flying in the daytime to unwind. nothing like running into a giant monster cat in the skies to start a conversation.
business contact of some sort--mr. phorus has to butter ur muse up to get them to invest in lunar or some shit. business things.
ur muse finds a cute little kitty and takes them home. cute little kitty was actually phorus in powered-down mode. u now have a grown demon man in ur house what are u gonna do about it.
aphelion:
depending on verse, he could be hiding from his family or working for angels. he could be ur guardian angel and finally show himself when u just KEEP fuckin up like PLS stop ur stressin me OUT!!
if on the run, he's trying to be secretive, but his face is p well-known due to the caelestis family being well-known old money. ur muse recognizes him and he gently shoves money into their mouth to pls keep this between us.
similar to phorus u found an injured kitty, except while this is Also a fully grown demon man, he owes u a life debt and will die for u. congrats!
reverse, if he finds u hurt, he WILL nurse u back to health against ur will whether u like it or not!! he WILL be worried over u!!

this guy was a whole load of lynel-shit. how in the world had he even survived to this point? it took waaay too long for astraeus to be properly convinced that this wasn't vaati in a new vessel going around to fuck shit up, but he trusted his nose.
much as octavo insisted to be an innocent--save for the crime of putting the king into a coma and risking the kingdom of hyrule--astraeus knew there was more beneath the surface. felt there was more beneath the surface.
and it all went back to one nasty little minish.

insufferable bastard that he was, when the very hint of being allowed to join their little team of monster-murderers was suggested, astraeus perked up. perked way up. his eyes were practically glittering and everything.
"mmmaybe?"
astraeus offered a toothy smile. he could figure something out, couldn't he? while he had taken a vow of silence for his father, who had pleaded with him with such an exasperated tone not to endanger additional lives... wasn't this different? that was regarding spilling the beans to common folk. this man was different.
he smelled of beasts and had proven skill, as did his compatriots. they could work something out. and maybe his father would see that those outside the clan could have their merits.
"i mean, i guess it'd only make sense... it would be pretty sad watching your friends get killed. you would probably live, but them?"
he made an exaggerated grimace and drew a line across his neck with the point of his thumb.
"and by that logic, i don't think i'd get in trouble for telling you things," he added in a half-mutter mostly to himself. with a furrowed, contemplative brow, he stared thoughtfully into the middle-distance--and then, abruptly popped to his feet.
"sooo~?"
approaching jianyu, he smiled, holding out a hand for a shake.
"does that sound like a deal to you?"
OF COURSE. THINKING THAT he’d get some explanation for Astraeus’ rather intense focus was asking a little too much when a part of him had already guessed this would be the response he’d be given. A complaint could have been sent up to his client, but he doubted that man would care to hear anything other than how successful the job had been. Despite his reservations about bringing someone else along – someone who wasn’t apart of his group at that – there wasn’t really anything that could be done about it but acceptance. Growling and glowering at them wouldn’t change the fact that Astraeus was coming regardless of whatever they were told. ❝You can’t tell me…❞ Jianyu repeated, words dripping with muted sarcasm. ❝Why is it I already knew this would be your response?❞ Ugh, this was supposed to be a fairly easy job.
Kill a monster, get paid.
However…judging by Astraeus’ words, that kind of thinking would be foolish. Things ever rarely just went the way it was supposed to in this line of work, so this too shouldn’t have been too much a surprise to him. Turning completely now, he lifted his hand to tug off his fur collared coat, tossing it over onto the nearest chair before pressing his back against the wall. ❝Not going to share any information about this beast, then? If, say I do take you along, if, would it not be within good faith that you make sure we’re all on the same page? Knowing what we’re walking into would make things that much easier to plan and prepare for.❞ He said ‘if’, even if the reality of it was that he would have to. That finite tone from the other said as much.

i havent played genshin in so long, but i had this dream that i was having to protect zhong.li's identity from people. but his dragon form was also there as its own separate entity. and i was hugging it and it was v warm and soft.
