the marquis's daughter felt a shroud of guilt as she looked around the ballroom at the lack luster appeal to it all. for her, she'd much practicing her dance moves (or rather ballet). as much it hurt her to keep her other life a secret, the lady wish she'd be free to develop things on her own. the shrewd remarked on the singing caused her to laugh. "yes, you could imagine how she gets with a couple drinks in her.", henrietta commented.

Emma knew all of the townsfolk, young and old, that lived near her family's estate in the Netherlands. However, she was now in a strange town and city and every event was a mystery. This was both very fun and very frustrating, because occasionally the events were lackluster and she went in being so hopeful. Such as this event. It was a small little soiree being held by a wealthy but eccentric widow. She was currently singing as her daughter played. The daughter was passably talented but no prodigy. The mother though? Her singing was terrible. Horrid. Grating on Emma's ears. She glanced to the person standing next to her and whispered. "Is it always this bad when she hosts events?"
