Ranger Week: New Magic Items
Tumblr media
Dual Fate Weapons
Magic Weapon (variable type), Very Rare, requires attunement by a ranger
Dual Fate Weapons are pairs of weapon that do more when used together. Apart, they are each a magic blade that have their own abilities. When a creature is hit by one of each of the paired weapons in the same round, it produces an additional effect. Each weapon should look distinct from its partner but have some sort of similar feature, like its shape, an engraved symbol, a similar hilt, or other such decoration. Note that the Wax weapon from Wax/Wane is a longsword (a non-light weapon), which requires the Dual-Wielder feat to properly wield with Wane.
Firestoke/Iceshard: Firestoke is a scimitar that deals +1d4 fire damage on hit. Iceshard is a scimitar that deals +1d4 cold damage on hit. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, a burst of fire and shards of ice blast all creatures in a 10 ft. radius of the creature. Those creatures must make a DEX save or take 1d4 fire and 1d4 cold damage.
Duskblade/Dawnblade: Duskblade and Dawnblade are both +2 short swords. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, the weapons drain the victim’s life force. The wielder is healed for 1d8 damage and the creature takes an additional 1d4 necrotic and 1d4 radiant.
Mindfang/Venomfang: Mindfang is a dagger that deals +1d8 psychic damage on hit. Venomfang is a dagger that deals +1d8 poison damage on hit. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, the weapons bombard the creature’s mind and body. The creature must make a WIS and a CON save with a DC of 14. On a failed WIS save, the creature becomes frightened for 1d4 rounds. On a failed CON save, the creature becomes poisoned for 1d4 rounds.
Boom/Crash: Boom is a light hammer that deals +1d4 thunder damage on hit. Crash is a hand axe that deals +1d4 lightning damage on hit. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, a loud, blinding bolt of lightning strikes the swords. All enemies within 30 ft. must make a CON save with a DC of 14. On a failed save, a creature becomes deafened and blinded for 1d4 rounds.
Wax/Wane: Wax is a +1 longsword and Wane is a +1 dagger. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, the weapons bolster the wielder and weaken the enemy. The wielder gains 8 temporary HP that disappear after 1 minute and the target gains 1 level of exhaustion. Creatures that become exhausted in this way cannot gain more than 3 levels of exhaustion in this way.
Tooth/Nail: Tooth is a +1 short sword and Nail is a +1 war pick. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, the weapons cause the wielder to push themselves beyond their normal limits. The wielder can make one extra attack each with tooth and with nail. This ability can only be used once per round.
Fleshrender/Bloodflayer: Fleshrender and Bloodflayer are both +1 sickles. When a creature is hit by attacks from both weapons in the same round, the creature must make a DC 14 CON saving throw or else become crippled as fleshrender rips a tendon. The creature’s maximum DEX is reduced by 1. This ability damage is recovered when the creature receives magical healing or after finishing a long rest. In addition, Bloodrender opens a wound that bleeds for 1 damage each round for 1 minute.

Gastromancy Week: New Magic Items
Try giving some of these silly food-based magic items to your players!
Axe of the Farfallen
Weapon (axe), rare, requires attunement
This double-bladed axe has a head of serrated, bowtie-shaped pasta. It once belonged to a famed pasta warlord painted the battlefield red with tomato sauce. The weapon is a +2 greataxe. The axe has three charges that replenish daily at dinner. You can spend a bonus action and expend a charge when you hit a creature with the axe. That creature must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15) or become restrained by spaghetti that springs forth from the axe head. While restrained in this way, the creature cannot make attacks. A restrained creature can use its action to make a Strength check (DC 15), freeing itself and ending the effect on a success.
Burger of Paradise
Wondrous item, very rare
A cheeseburger such as this is cooked on a good-aligned outer plane by celestials. It is said to have 57 different spices from around the multiverse to give it its distictive flavor, and is kept magically warm in its take-out container. The burger is often served with fried potatoes and a large pickle.
A creature that partakes of this cheeseburger regains all of their lost hit points, and ends all blindness, deafness, exhaustion, fear, and poison affecting the creature, as well as all curses and diseases affecting them. The entire burger must be eaten to have this effect. Consuming the burger consumes the burger.
Citrus Shield
Armor (shield), uncommon, requires attunement
This +1 shield appears to be a 3-foot diameter lemon round. You can use your action to unleash a cone of lemon juice in a 30-foot cone emanating from the shield by squeezing it. Each creature in the cone must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 13) or become blinded for 1 minute. Creatures that don’t have all their hit points when they fail this save also take 2d6 acid damage. The shield can’t be used this way again until lunchtime.
Cloak of Pizza
Wondrous item, rare, requires attunement
A cloak of pizza is is a drape of constantly oozing cheese topped with pepperoni slices about 1 foot in diameter. The cloak constantly steams and drips grease and is very hot to the touch. The cloak and its effects don’t harm or impede you while you are attuned to it.
The cloak leaves a trail of slippery grease wherever you travel, up to 30 feet in a given round. Each grease trail dries at the start of each of your turns. Whenever another creature passes over the grease trail, it must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or slip and fall prone.
You are also protected with a piping-hot aura. Whenever a creature makes a melee attack against you within 5 feet of you or touches you, that creature takes 1d8 fire damage.
The effects of the cloak can be suppressed or re-activated using a bonus action and by speaking a command word.
Cloak of Pizza (Supreme)
Wondrous item, very rare, requires attunement
A supreme cloak of pizza functions as a cloak of pizza but deals 2d8 fire damage with its aura instead of 1d8. It also sports olives, peppers, and mushrooms.
Explosive Pie
Wondrous item, uncommon
An explosive pie can be thrown up to 40 feet where they explode on contact. Each creature within 15 feet of wherever the pie lands is subject to the pie’s effects. The effect varies depending on the pie’s flavor.
Acidic Apple. Each creature must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 acid damage on a failed save or half as much on a success.
Lightning Merengue. Each creature must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 lightning damage on a failed save or half as much on a success.
Charring Cherry. Each creature must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 fire damage on a failed save or half as much on a success.
Boreal Blueberry. Each creature must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 6d6 cold damage on a failed save or half as much on a success.
Poison Pumpkin. Each creature must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 6d6 poison damage on a failed save or half as much on a success.
Gloves of Evoo
Wondrous item, uncommon, requires attunement

HOW could have I not illustrated that scene?! :D
I will never cease to chuckle at that awkward soldier with that bowl of fruit. He has no idea how he got there.

reading ‘highmarshal kaladin’ in row really made me. hm. wow. but also im living for the comedic potential of kal actually having money and a title and lands but still being Like That. like here you go mr stormblessed heres all of this security and kaladin ‘refused to take shards twice’ stormblessed is just like oh thanks when can i redistribute this wealth. kaladin getting invites to all the fancy lighteyed events cause of his position and the one time adolin convinced him not to wear a uniform he like, shows up in rosharan sweatpants for the joke. kaladin at said events being forced to hobnob but he literally cannot stop himself from answering any polite question with ‘im fine thanks hey why do you continue to exploit the poor for the sake of personal capital. cringe’
