we went to this restaurant in costa rica solely for sake bombs (which is funny in itself)
but the ceiling had tapestries taught and fixed to wood for structure, i am exploring a solution similar for my apartment 馃帍

i figured it out. This vehicle is very old. It is always prone to repairs small or large, my mind attentive when operating this vessel.
My eyes consistently check the engine temperature, to oil pressure, to water temperature via a custom monitor. My ears are listening for any unusual noises, or when it is time for the engine to switch gears. My nose occupied for any suspicious burning smells. Filtered with the scent of old 1990 carpet and gasoline. My body feels the bumps and curves of the road, but with responsive go-kart mannerisms. Potholes especially are felt to the bone with a car this low to the ground. It sometimes the motor "coughs" and "chokes" at long red lights on the warmer days, symptoms of aged electronic sensors.
There is signs of use, but that is what the machine is built to do. And it does a great job at doing so.
when the car goes fast, i move fast.
when the car moves slow, i move slow.
I care a lot about this machine, and the effort I put into it reflects on its appearance and beauty. Because of this driving experience, I need all four of my limbs and mind present in the moment to operate the car smoothly. With the lack of computer assists, and modern technology, it is a fine dance to operate efficiently. Full attention is required in the moment at all times.
Driving this vessel lets me forget about the large deadline I have due next week. It lets me forget about the tasks I left at home. It does fill me with a slight anxious feeling of if it will start the next time i turn the key. This vessel lets me feel fresh air, listen to music, and put a smile on my face to hear the subtle rumble every time i shift through the gears.
transmission and their derivatives can be traced to the聽Latin transmittere, in turn formed by prefixing the preposition trans ("across or beyond") to the verb mittere ("to let go or to send")

any advice on how to develop a vague idea and some characters into a plot w meaning? i want to write so badly but i have no direction bc idk what to do w the set ups and its making me feel beyond frustrated :(
an activity that has helped me in the past is creating a want chart. you list out all of your main characters and then make three columns:
external wants
internal wants
complications/obstacles
note, this is a reductive activity, but we're just brainstorming and getting words on the page.
the external wants are what they tell themselves they're striving for. a promotion, solving a murder, fighting a monster of the week, what have you. internal wants are deeper desires they may or may not be aware of yet. the movement of the externally driven successes/failures might inform or change their internal desires, or vice versa. my favorite stories are ones in which the external and internal are in conflict with one another. for example, a character who is chasing after a romantic interest who isn't right for them. meanwhile their bff is waiting at the sidelines, pining but putting on a supportive front. in that scenario, something eventually will have to change and a decision will be made.
complications/obstacles can be anything from denial to Shakespearean miscommunication to a literal wall they have to climb over.
once you have your chart filled out, the next step is to think about the inciting incident, which might be an external catalyst of some kind, forcing your character to act or think or feel in a new way. a change has occurred in their life and they have to then react to that, and their reaction then sets the stakes of the story. by that point, you should have a place to start.
hopefully this activity can help you generate some ideas!
