They’re usually wonderful and full of character, with amazing sounds and the smell of warm engine oil wafting through the open windows. And then there are the times you need a sense of humour and a good book in the glovebox to help pass the time while you wait for roadside assistance … again. I’ve realised that the interesting part isn’t the cars, but rather the folks who own them. There’s aways a great story about why they’ve picked that vehicle - it was the car they lusted after as a teenager, the same car their mum or dad or grandparent drove, or maybe a design they’ve always liked. I want to photograph classic car owners with their cars. I’m on the lookout for: • Cars made before 2000 and owners of any make or year. • The car doesn’t have to be fancy or exotic. In my eyes a prized Datsun is often every bit as worthy of a portrait as a Ferrari. • Cars in any condition—concourse standard, rust held together by paint or anything in between.
