*These are 100% my opinion so if you disagree, that's fine and don't take it so seriously*
1. He's half Spanish, half Korean
: He moved to Spain when he was 11 so his background and his culture are that of typical Korean. But when it comes to his personality and attitude(?), he's mixed. He knows to be polite and respectful like Korean to the elders, but that does not stop him from speaking his opinion so loudly and even to those older players in NT, he does speak more freely and express his anger and frustration when the other player makes mistake. At the friendly match, he yelled at one player after the match for not passing a ball to him when no one was marking him and the journalists overheard the talk and asked the other player about the incident. The thing is he is much older than Kang-In so they were looking for some juicy stuff like how rude Kangin is, but the other player admitted it was his fault.
2. He's very family-oriented
: He always asks his manager where his family is sitting at before the friendly match begins. At Pusan match, I was very lucky to sit where his family was (like 2-3 rows behind them) and he stared at where they are like every chance he got.
3. He's very honest, (too) forward
: Even at the interview, he's not afraid to speak what's on his mind. And the sports journalists in Korea are.......🤢 (let's just say they'd write absolute shit just for the views - the more famous the player is the dirtier the title gets) Until now, they've been pretty easy on him bc he's young...(and Sonny has been their main target til now) but I sometimes worry that they'd do the same thing they did to Sonny as Kangin is getting big attention from football fans. At Daejun friendly match, he left in a hurry and when a journalist asked(more like threatened) him for an interview, he literally said, "Plz, let me go without an interview for this once" and that journalist wrote an article about his attitude as a revenge🙄 But we support an honest king (give him some break) and Sonny gave them unnecessarily long, detailed interview instead so back off
+++ Well, some fans make a joke that he's the one player that's most likely one day post that he's gonna get married in a week or he just recently married someone or he's already married and became a father out of blue 😭😭😭
4. I need him to be the next captain
: I rlly want to cry just thinking about Sonny's retirement from national team, but if the day comes and he's passing his captain band to someone else, it must be Kang-In. I know Kang-In is younger than most of the players in NT but I don't give a shit about that and age is just a number and captain=oldest is such an outdated concept. And the fact that Sonny had to step up as a captain at the age of 26, I think Kang-In can start wearing the arm band as a young captain as well. And I really need him to take the role as I know it'd be motherfucking Kim from FC Bayern who doesn't care about NT and blocks his captain when he feels like it and blames everything on Sonny after shit show so plz, for the love of god, don't make me watch a single game where irresponsible, crybaby Kim is the captain of my country bc that'd be so horrible and I'd want to stick a nail in my eyes before that happens.
+++ And he'd be a great leader as he's got strong personality with leadership and he does care about NT and he gets along with every player and hard emphasis on that he speaks Spanish fluently and as time goes by he'll pickup on some French as well.
See the love they have? That's Sonny saying "That's my boy" with his eyes🩵💛💜
