Ladybug is a kids show
but there is so much more about it than just teens in fancy costumes falling in love. its about little girls, seeing normal girls just like them as superheroes on tv. its about having superpowers but still being clumsy or anxious sometimes. you see the protagonists confronted with fear and still  trying to see the good things in the world. you see superheroes that make mistakes because they are still human beings with flaws. but they learn. they fail. they apologize and try to make it better next time. its about boys that can be emotional hurt too. about dealing with rejection and disappointment and loss. its about how money can never replace a loving family. about parents you hate sometimes because you don’t want to live up to their high expectations and still not wanting them to be hurt.
its about having tons of different bodytypes without shaming them or trying to change peoples appearance to be more accepted. its about having lots of different skin colours and origins without focusing on how that could be a problem. its about having a city full of people with different jobs, hobbies and styles. it doesn’t matter if you like rockmusic or playing sports or being a computer guy. everyone is portrayed as a unique person with good and bad characteristics. and it makes you feel bad if someone hurts them because you could imagine having someone like them in your life as well. it doesn’t matter how you look like as long as you’re kind. its about forgiving someone, even if they’ve done bad things. nice people can get angry too if they were treated unfairly. maybe its just a misunderstanding or an accident that makes people do horrible things, but its never out of nowhere. its never too late to apologize, because its just normal to be wrong sometimes and admitting that won’t make you less of a person.
its about being a team. not everybody can do everything perfectly good, but everyone has their advantages. its just about how you use them. its about embracing differences, not shaming them. its about not acting revengeful. uncontrolled negative emotions can make you hurt people, and lots of things can be resolved with just talking to each other. learn from mistakes and do better next time. ladybug may be a kids show, but that doesn’t make the message unimportant or childish. empathy and compassion are characteristics that many adults still do not have. a lot of shows for adults do not portray these things as important, mostly because they seem boring compared to glorified violence. because avenging someone looks like a form of justice that excuses brutality. because it is seen as weak to not hit back. and that is wrong.
