「✗」 — Public speaking was something he had never had a PROBLEM with. Never had he felt uncomfortable or awkward when speaking to the press or those in his department. But speaking with teenagers, that was another story. It was uncommon for a federal agent to give any sort of talk at a high school, yet he had been PUSHED to do it. Alex could tell the majority of students didn’t care. They wanted to leave as much as he did && FORTUNATELY for him, not many questions had been asked at the end. 

Standing in the corridor of the school, Alex placed his pen back into his jacket pocket. He would have taken his medication BEFORE he spoke, but there had been no time. Head turned away from the display case he had idly been viewing at the sound of footsteps. He faintly recalled seeing the student in the gym. Instead of a verbal acknowledgement, Alex simply nodded in greeting.

♞ — Hands raised in mock defense as she warned him. A lingering fear of her attachment to her human life stirred inside him. They weren’t human, and they never would be. “Just because they do it, doesn’t mean it’s something you should involve yourself with. You’re better than that, than THEM.” She didn’t need to know his reasons, he certainly didn’t want her to know. “My reasons are my own,” he didn’t want her harmed in the way he was, it was something he wouldn’t wish upon his worst enemy. “I thought you trusted me, or is that all as false as your life here?”

Arguing with her was the last thing on his mind when he visited, yet it almost ALWAYS ended up there. Having her hate him hurt more than the torment he endured over the years. It left deeper scars than the ones that streaked merlot wings.

♞ — He could almost mouth along to what she was saying. How many times had they had this discussion? He was sure it was in the low hundreds by now. Gaze briefly went to her phone, before he lifted it to look at her. “Not the first time he was BUSTED for possession of marijuana. Aged 17, intention to sell and use. Is it a surprise he fell back on the wagon?” Standing up straight, he turned his head to make sure the door was closed and leaning against the edge of the desk. “I’m perfectly capable of doing BOTH. We had a bust on a case this morning. Multi-tasking comes in quite handy in this line of work.” Even if it means he got no sleep and was bordering on anxiety attack every other day, but she didn’t need to know this.

“You know I can’t stay out of your life, you’re my sister, it’s my job to keep you safe.” It wasn’t really, but he MADE IT his job alongside keeping the FALLEN in check. “Can’t you just trust that I do the things I do for a reason? For a good reason, Zadkiel. I wouldn’t be doing them otherwise.”

Her eyes darkened slightly, posture tensing as he went on. “Don’t call me that,” She near hissed, finger pointing at him as a WARNING of what might happen if he did again. That wasn’t her anymore. Things were different. They were humans. Or at least, they lived alongside them. And she liked who she was now. Caroline. Blonde. Bright. Bubbly. Caroline Elizabeth Forbes, daughter of a small-town sheriff. This was her life now, the life that she chose. The life that carried far less pain and disappointment. “It’s not even that big of a deal.” She corrected, setting her jaw and folding her arms over her chest. “You know everyone does it here, right? All the teenagers? It’s not like it was meth, or something.”

Granted, the guy hadn’t been all that much of a CATCH to begin with. But he was cute, and he’d been interested. Or at least interested in seeing her again. What was so wrong about having the human experience? Every day was laden with responsibility and duties and leading people down paths that they would only veer off of time and time again. “What REASON could you possibly have? I’m not some innocent that you need to protect, Raguel. I can take care of myself.”

♞ — Pulling his shirt back on, Alex simply shrugged. “You get USED TO IT after a while.” He never found the job to be amusing, while it could be entertaining at times, there was never anything that gave him the URGE to laugh as he was working. Except when one of the new dancers fucked up thier act. Glancing over his shoulder at the younger, he raised a brow. “If you laugh, even a little, it’s reason enough to get yourself F I R E D. It’s happened before so I’d resist that urge if I were you.”

“okay, so..” tyler starter with a little chuckle to himself, having watched the crowd during alex’s set, “as a far more experienced professional than myself, please tell me how you managed to look that woman in those crazy eyes of hers and not laugh a little.” sure, maybe it was shallow, but weren’t their customers shallow as well? coming into the club to stuff a handful of bills down someone’s g-string just to see them take it off? “i don’t know how you do it man, i’d have lost it a bit.”

What are the chances of Alex actually having friends in this show Like he cut himself off from his wife and son He’s a workaholic Did this man have any friends outside of work?? Chances are he sat alone in his garden staring at the fountain thing or hoarded cats
