In my interpretation (slugcat to anthro) Artificer lost their mind trying to avenge their slugpups. Through mindless slaughter they became the very thing they wanted to destroy. There's no mercy left in their heart... but the sight of other slugcats and their pups brings them immense pain. That makes them seclude themselves in metropolis where separation and sight of scqvenger's dead bodies brings them a resemblance of peace.

Scavengers on the other hand being so scared of them made their set of legends that makes them deeply scared of any red slugcats.

Artificer is also Hunter's grandpa's sibling so don't ship them together in my anthro au.

This is after Tip had an argument with his sister which resulted in her running away. He felt really bad and decided to after her, because he knew she'll try doing something stupid. He's walking through the city cautiously looking for her, but he's close to the city karma gate leading to the outside... Which results in him leaving his iterator can and searching for her outside.
