a post-doc was doing a guest seminar at my institute and at the beginning of his presentation he was explaining why he chose birds for his evolutionary analysis - so he said "well first of all, because birds are the best and most interesting animals and it's fun to study them" and a few professors in the room gave him a very serious nod

For something a bit different, here's a silly little video of a silver gull hunting flies. The area had been hit by a storm recently which washed massive amounts of kelp and other sea weed onto the beach which in turn attracted enormous numbers of flies.

Though Coopuccino (and Americano) are my favourite, there are a bunch of other regular visitor pigeons that are distinctive enough to have names. This is Ginger (red, female), Pie (pied male) and their third known baby, Blatte (originally Latte3, kept calling it Baby Latte, shortened to Blatte)
