Can we talk about the fact that this Toy's Donut Diner Apron Dress Set is ¥93,500 retail? It's a set of the JSK and headbow and it's ¥93,500.
For comparison, let's give AP the benefit of the doubt and say that headbow is a bonnet + headbow level of fancy. So for comparison, this is DDC + Headbow + Bonnet
And that would run you ¥37,400 + ¥8,800 + ¥5,500 for a total of ¥51,500 yen retail.
Now the Toy's Donut Diner Apron Dress does have 2 extra bows on the skirt, 5 ribbon bows and a couple lines of trim on the bodice.
But I would argue it's not significantly more technically challenging to sew than something like Sweet Frill JSK which retailed for ¥31,680
Even if we toss in another ¥10,000 for complexity, we are only looking at ¥61,500 yen. So, really AP is arguing... what? ¥40,000 more in complexity than the DDC JSK?
Even the Romantic Rose Letter special set only cost ¥59,850
Granted, with the exchange rate ¥93,500 is around $623, but still, this dress set sold out in pre-orders in stores in Japan!
And, like, I don't think salaries in Japan have gone up a lot. So this is still, as far as I understand, close to a 1K dress set for the Japanese Audience and... I don't get it. That price seems really high for what it is?
