YES!! I just wrote about this in my last grad class in relation to growth-mindset!
not to be fake deep on main but learning to knit and actually being able to work thru struggles and get better and learn more techniques and try new things when im comfortable with them has been very reassuring and calming.  usually it feels like i either Get Stuff or I Dont and when i dont there’s no way for me to problem solve my way out of it myself but knitting has been a very safe place to make mistakes and try again and thats nice

A Cautionary Tale
Me, three years ago: This beanie pattern is so easy I don’t need to write it down. I’m sure I’ll remember how to space these decreases.
Narrator (voice over): He did not.

So I finally took a break from my exam prep (math about sperm whales) to type up this slightly too well-researched pattern (also about sperm whales). Sorry for my hand in all the pictures– the door was the only background that was working.  Also, if anyone does this I really want to see, nobody’s ever shown me something they made from my patterns before! Pattern is below read more.

Finished the herringbone stitch scarf. It wraps around once and is fastened with two wooden buttons and loop toggles. No lining was added as the stitch created a dense enough fabric to keep the cold out!

Me after getting multiple splinters from one of my knitting needles: ugh these needles suck and I need to buy new ones.
Me after losing that same needle in the couch today: WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO BUY NEW ONES??? THESE NEEDLES WERE PERFECT! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

A sweater for my husband. The pattern is Sawyer by Julie Hoover for Brooklyn Tweed but I used a cheap substitute yarn (BT is expensive as hell) which is Plymouth Homestead Tweed. The stitch pattern is called either honeycomb or fluffy brioche. Fluffy indeed.
The body is a bit short and the sleeves are a bit long but he doesn't mind... so he says.
