I was reading a book (about interjections, oddly enough) yesterday which included the phrase “In these days of political correctness…” talking about no longer making jokes that denigrated people for their culture or for the colour of their skin. And I thought, “That’s not actually anything to do with ‘political correctness’. That’s just treating other people with respect.”
Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile.
You should try it. It’s peculiarly enlightening.
I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking “Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!”
Happy Valentine’s Day.

The Red, White and Royal Blue movie may be different but the emotions in the lake house scene are the same
The wonder in Alex realizing that oh for the first time in his life he is in love with another person and he will tell him - that was the same
The panic and devastation in Henry realizing that oh despite what he wanted … what he planned … Alex somehow fell in love with him anyways and it‘s everything he wanted and everything he feared - that was the same
The emotional gut punch of the italicized oh on both of them was the same
The emotional gut punch on both of them when Henry dropped into the water and stayed in the water cause he couldn’t bear to hear it the italicized oh out loud? It was the same.
And so were the emotions surrounding the leak and yes, things were changed but a lot stayed the same and a lot that mattered stayed the same

I watched RWRB with my family and they had some opinions on Henry’s character so let me say this: I am a Henry Fox Mountchristen Windsor apologist first. Human being second

Okay. Listen. Second watch of RWRB. The ✨symbolism✨ behind Henry getting undressed during the Paris Scene.
Stripping away the mask of Prince Henry, so that he can just be Henry Fox with Alex. And Alex eventually helping him? And how Alex is still fully clothed because there's so much left to learn and so much that he's still holding onto. And then the relief of just being able to lay yourself bare to someone- both physically and emotionally?
There's so much subtext y'all.
Screaming. Crying. Throwing up.
I am and will always be completely feral over this movie.
