wonwoo’s counting the seconds until you resurface from your sobs. it’s not the first time in your long distance relationship you’ve called him up just to cry first and get comforted after, but he’s shut his eyes as he tries to piece together what you need to hear most. maybe he’ll look at the flights again, actually. you shouldn’t be going through this alone. the situation is “whatever” in your own words, but wonwoo knows you’re drowning now. that’s why he tries to comfort and be there for you.
“i just…” your voice is hoarse. you told him you ended up physically sick right before this, and your sobs have echoed a little like they’re bouncing off of tile—meaning you haven’t even left the bathroom yet. “i can’t do this. i can’t. i’m not going to live through this.”
his heart aches. “do you want me to come?”
“you shouldn’t have to—“
“other people are failing you right now and i don’t like seeing you suffer.” despite the anger inside, his voice is always soft when he speaks to you. it’s not you he’s mad at, after all. “but i don’t want to overstep. i’ll share the responsibilities with you. i’ll help. but only if you want me there.”
you sniffle on the other end, and he hears the sound of you moving. the water runs. a moment later, you sigh. “no—not yet. it’s not bad yet.”
he’d argue against that, but this time he doesn’t.
“just… when you do come...” you pause for a little too long. “can you just… hold me for a bit?”
“as long as you need,” he promises. “i love you. you’re stronger than you know, honey. i’m here when you need me, okay?”
the faintest chuckle. it means the extra affection doesn’t go unnoticed. it’s wonwoo’s way of standing alongside you even though he’s not there with you. “i know. i love you, too.”
(he’ll look at flights again anyway… just to have the backup plan ready to go if he needs to run to you.)

I keep seeing people making fun of using growled, hissed, roared, snarled etc in writing and it’s like.
have you never heard someone speak with the gravel in their voice when they get angry? Because that’s what a growl is.
Have you never heard someone sharply whisper something through the thin space of their teeth? Or when your mother sharply told you to stop it in public as a kid when you were acting up/being too loud? Because that’s what a hiss is.
Have you never heard a man get so blackout angry that their voice BOOMS through the house? Because that’s what a roar is.
Have you never seen someone bare their teeth while talking to accentuate their frustration or anger while speaking with a vicious tone? Because that’s what snarling is.
It’s not meant to be a literal animal noise. For the love of god, not every description is literal. I get some people are genuinely confused, but also some of these people are genuinely unimaginative as fuck.
