Spring
Is this finally illustration which I managed to draw in 2020? You bet it is! I wanted to draw something inspired by nature for so long and I’m happy that I finally managed to work on original art after months of hard work. This year I hope to experiment more with backgrounds and other things so I hope you’ll be excited to see my new works :D

If you're the kind of DM who absolutely loves worldbuilding and lore but struggles to write up an actual plot*, have you considered just, not writing one?
There are lots of great prewritten adventures out there that you can plug into your setting. And I don't just mean locations. You can ask "What does this look like if the cultists serve [your hombrew evil entity] instead?" odds are the only adjustments will be flavor, and hey, you rock at flavor!
Here's a tool you can use to search adventures by environment, types of monsters, and more.

Festive One-Shot I ran last year with my party
You have a town you live in and a tavern you're staying in.
For some reason you start spotting sus people hiding explosives in random town spots. When going to authorities aka city guards - they are "already on it", have a big map with like half of spots etc. They also inform you there is a massive conical contraption on the central square you need to investigate rn.
When arrived, party sees Power Ranger\Team Ginyu -themed "villains" standing on the snow hill with the giant switch, threatening to set everything ablaze in the most MUAHAHAHAHA way possible. Main "priority" for the group is to protect or take over the switch.
When the switch is flipped or destroyed, lots of fireworks start shooting in the sky.
This whole nonsence, including explosives, switch and "heroes vs villains" standoff is a town tradition no one discloses to the outsiders, so organizers can find a new team each year and the whole town will watch the fun. "Heroes" and "villains" (who are, btw, hosts and waiters of the exact tavern you're staying in) are drinking together. Happy end.
PS The most hilarious thing in the whole one-shot was when I introduced "the villains" and the whole party gathered on the other side of the table posing as the power ranger team :)

People joke about how silly the idea of being an atheist in a Dungeons & Dragons style fantasy setting is, but if you think about it, empirical proof of a supernatural being’s existence doesn’t tell you anything in particular in a setting like that, does it?
There are lots of creatures in a D&D style fantasy setting that could credibly pull off impersonating a god in a way that your average human would have no reasonable way of fact-checking – and I’m not just talking about supernatural con artists, though there is that.
D&D proposes a milieu in which there’s a whole ecosystem of things that magically pretend to be other things.
Imagine being a D&D cleric and discovering one day that the thing you’ve been worshipping and that grants you your magical powers is actually just a really big mimic, is what I mean to say.

This is I think, my best prep tip as a DM:
When the players are about to visit a new town, pre-generate several NPCs who fit the demographics of the town, but don't give them jobs. Your town is Mostly human, with a number of halflings and gnomes? Make a list that's mostly humans with some halflings and gnomes mixed in, with names that match the vibe you're going for and maybe the barest description + a quirk of some sort.
So the list would look something like this:
Ophelia Bracegurdle, older Halfling woman who laughs a lot
Norabecka Johnson, a young human woman who seems tired
Geraldofinio Babblecock Nimsy, gnome gentleman who takes pains to maintain a fabulous mustache
Etc.
Then, when the players are like, "Can I go to the blacksmith?" You look at your list of NPCs and the one at the top is Ophelia Bracegurdle. She's your blacksmith now. Then they want to go to the tavern, where Norabecka is the innkeeper and Geraldofinio is a patron having a drink at the bar. He's using a straw so he doesn't mess up his mustache.
If they had gone to the inn first, Ophelia would have been the innkeeper with Norabecka as the patron, and then Geraldofinio should have been a blacksmith with some sort of mustache guard to keep the sparks off.
Making the list ahead of time doesn't take much time, and you can often re-use the people you never got to at the next town.
Your world will seem vibrant and interesting and like you have everything planned out.
Have fun!
