Sorry to hijack the post but about the movie ending, it wasn't supposed to end like that originally. I know for sure that they shot a dancing scene with the whole cast right outside the courthouse after the trial (there are stills online).
Then I can't remember if they also shot a "one year later" in which Elle and a blonde Vivian distribute flyers for their "blondes of the world alliance/society" or if that was just the book ending.
Don't read the book, it's very bad.
Legally Blonde (movie) would have been So Much Better I think, if at the end Elle didnt end up with Emmet. Because it really felt like the whole "we have to stick the female lead with a guy, but shes already rejected the guy she came to Harvard for so um, here's the next best option". leading up until then she had been depending on her own hard work and the support of her friends, and there was nothing indicative of a romance between the two of them
but with Elle and Emmet's relationship in Legally Blonde the Musical, it didnt feel forced. it felt organic, and lovely, and almost like maybe true love does exist. the musical could have been good either way, but I'm glad that when writing Emmet and Elle's love, they took the time to develop it and establish good dynamics between the two, starting with a friendship that only blossomed into romance later, which is far healthier than just "our female protagonist needs a male love interest"
because while Movie Emmet had nothing to lose by helping Elle (he was hot, handsome, prolly rich, never depicted to have worked hard to get where he was), Musical Emmet risked everything, including his career/all his hard work up till then, not to let Elle go, only to end up believing that he had to pet her go anyways, but he did so because he wanted her to be happy
#legally blonde#personally i don't mind the romantic ending to the movie#it says 3 years later so i can believe stuff has happened in the meantime#and i'm not really interested in what happened exactly#but yes musical emmet is a way better character

The one bizarre thing to me about textiles is that warp-weighted weaving is at least 6500 years old, but our oldest knitted artifacts are only ~1000 years old, and crochet 200 years old. Even though you need less equipment to knit (two sticks) or crochet (one hook) compared to warp-weighted weaving (frame, loom weights, batting, heddles). Why the big gaps between these inventions? And why did each one appear and spread when it did?
