Haisaki is walking down the hallway. Arima calls him.
Arima: Prison Chief. No. 240…

Haisaki: Yes, his crying at night is terrible. Even worse than a baby’s. Either it’s because he’s having nightmares or he picks on his eyes until it forms pus.
Haisaki: He also refuses to eat. At this rate he’d be weakened to death.
Arima: …I see.
At a later date, Arima once again visits Kaneki’s cell and he inserts a novel thru the small window.
Arima: If this is not enough, I’ll bring some again.
And then Arima leaves.
Time passes by and Kaneki’s cell is now filled with books.
More time passes by…
Arima and Kaneki are having a conversation on a table.
Arima: You need a name.
Kaneki: A… name?
Kaneki now has a more refreshing expression on his face.
Arima: Your appointment as investigator has been incorporated into your ‘Rehabilitation Program’. It’s going to be troublesome if you’re always going to be called 'No. 240’.
Arima: What name do you want?
Kaneki: A name… Isn’t someone else going to decide it for me?
Arima: I told the higher ups that 'I’d leave it to you.’
Kaneki: Even if you tell me that, I…
Arima: Alright. Pick your two favorite kanjis.
Kaneki: …Then.
Kaneki points at words on a newspaper.
Arima: 'Coffee’ (珈琲) and 'World’ (世界)…
Arima: …How about 'Haise’ (琲世)?
Kaneki: …Haise.
Kaneki writes down the characters on paper.
Kaneki: Yes… I like this name.
Kaneki: Thank you, Arima-san.
Kaneki smiles brightly at Arima while Arima has a somewhat sad look on his face.
Arima: (Haise.)
