Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - Operation Riptide is Just Dropped
It turns out that Valve was indeed teasing something major for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive earlier this week. Today, the studio has launched the FPS game's next big operation, Riptide, which brings an array of brand new game modes, maps, gameplay changes, challenges, and more.
You can purchase the new Steam operation pass to get the CS:GO Option Riptide. This update introduces some major changes to the way you shoot in the shooter. One of them is the new private matchmaking queues feature. This lets you generate a queue code for sharing with pals - or with people all in the same Steam group to set up an exclusive Premier match on Valve's servers. The new overview of operations explains that you can pair up groups, create teams, or wait for the matchmaker to sort it out.
Elsewhere, Riptide ushers in the possibility to select two different lengths of matches on official (competitive matchmaking) CS:GO servers that are short (MR16) and long (MR30) (or you can choose 'no preference' if you're willing to try both. Team Deathmatch now has more options. You can pick between "Classic Deathmatch", Team Deathmatch (first team to score 100 kills wins) or Deathmatch for free. All players are enemies.
The Demolition and Arms Race game modes have also received some changes with a more streamlined progression of weapons in each, plus some other tweaks you can check out in the overview.
There will be rewards for Riptide while it is live, just like the previous CS games. You can earn stars through weekly tasks, which will allow you to spend on new agents, including the "Guerrilla Warfare Terrorists", CT SEAL team "Frogmen", and the French Gendarmerie".
The map created by fans County which is a bit Far Cry 5-like was added to CS:GO official Matchmaking for Danger Zone mode. Basalt and Insertion II now have a place in the Competitive Deathmatch, Casual, and Competitive modes' matchmaking pools for competitive matches and Ravine Extraction, Ravine, and Wingman have been added to Wingman's official matchmaking. server list Grind, Mocha and Pitstop have been removed. Dust 2, Inferno, and Ancient have all got some adjustments, too, which you can read up on in Valve's notes on the patch.
Riptide's gameplay improvements include the ability to now drop grenades as regular weapons, along with an enhancement to body damage for the M4A1-S as well as an nerf for the Deagle. Dual Elites are now cheaper, and vision after death has been dropped to 2.0s from 3.0s (0.5s down from 1.0s for vision after headshot).
Today we are excited to ship the CS:GO's 11th Operation, Operation Riptide. New challenges await, with new maps, new game mode options, all-new Private Queues and more: https://t.co/w9Av3CkmrU
