i hate when people say “zutara is just girls who self insert as katara & want zuko”
first of all, arguably not always true as someone who never saw herself as katara & is still obsessed w zutara, secondly let’s not act like ur angsty ass wasn’t trying to relate to mai bsfr or the kat@@ng shippers who r self inserting as aang.
theres literally no issue with self inserting or relating to a character so i don’t see the issue? that doesn’t mean the ship is entirely invalid even if we relate to someone in the ship. but even then there’s xreaders for a reason babes, if we really wanted zuko for ourselves those type of fics exist.

It's funny because this fact made me suddenly create a headcanon :
Of course Zuko and Katara shipping themselves, they fell in love with each other.
Then almost all the members of the Gaang except Aang (we don't know for sure about Suki) also ship Zutara because they know Zuko and Katara are secretly making out, while Aang denies it because well, you know why…
Sokka as Katara's brother approve their relationship!
Then Uncle Iroh, he must've ship Zutara since stubborn Zuko asked Katara to help him defeat Azula.
Uncle Iroh as father figure for Zuko definitely approve their relationship!
Azula shipped Zutara? She must've known that Katara meant a lot to Zuko, otherwise why would she direct the lightning at her? She know that either Katara would lose or Zuko would sacrifice himself for her.
I can say, that's the way Azula as Zuko's sister approve their relationship!
And the Cabbage Man. This time I didn't expect it. Maybe he really is a Zutara shipper. Maybe he was the one who told the Ember Island player director that the two of them had a special relationship? (I'm making things up this time) 😂😂
Okay, back to Zutara fandom who has strong allies from the ATLA writers too.

no matter whether ppl are trying to make zk's canon relationship out to be sibling coded or associative friends or whatever else ppl make up i feel it all comes from this place of people that don't ship it being unable to handle zuko and katara's canonically deep and intimate friendship at the end of show without (whether subconsciously or not) perceiving it as some kind of threat to whatever katara or zuko ship they DO ship (usually either k/a or z/s or m/z)
they don't know how to acknowledge/write zk (and i don't think them being a m/f ship is divorced from this) having their canonically close friendship alongside whatever they ship because that closeness, no matter how platonic, can't supersede the romance of their own ship. so they just lazily write it off as "siblings" or convince themselves they weren't ever that close in the first place or that katara still secretly hates zuko or something in order to get out of the bind of allowing them to be close friends even if you ship them with other people 🤷♀️

Zutara shippers are guilty of this too, but Kataang shippers are way more guilty of it.
The fact that a Zutara shipper can be expressing their genuine feelings about Kataang, and get accused of rage bait and not watching the show really bugs me.
Ultimately it’s not that serious. This is tv show from like ten years ago, with a huge fan base, theirs going to be different interpretations of characterization and romances.
If you can’t handle that, you really don’t deserve to be in the fandom. These aren’t real people, they’re fictional characters, and people having headcannons and disagreeing with your ship does nothing to stop you.
Like I said I am biased, since I am a Zutara shipper but I honestly think Kataang shippers are way more guilty of it.
Like me talking about Aang and Kataras relationship wasn’t handled well, doesn’t stop you from shipping them. But you harassing me and saying borderline insulting that I didn’t watch the show, is rude. Plain and simple.
Once again, this is a children show from ten years ago with a wide fanbase, so if you find someone you disagree with, there is no need to be mean to them, and act like these are real people.

idk about you but being a ZK in 2024 is actually quite a blessing lol. the zutara renaissance happening due to THAT scarf scene in NATLA, so crazy. ZKs know how to have fun while developing skills in analysing and making parallels (I've seen some people posting that the parallels and symbolisms don't work or boring/simplistic but again, that's on them LMAO) about zutara + knowing the OG voice actors actually ship them??? it's such a win, really. in addition to that, many ZKs are insanely talented in writing, making fanarts, edits, etc like the amount of content we're getting fed??? we're always so full thanks to them 🙏🏼

In the canon compliant world where Aang and Katara get together, I headcanon that the moment the everyone found out that Zuko took lightning in the chest for Katara during the Final Agni Kai, they all were not normal about it. Like can you imagine someone hearing about it and not thinking that Zuko was in love with her? How can everyone not be confused af hearing that Katara starts a relationship Aang and Zuko and Mai start dating again shortly after? Can you imagine all of the questions from friends, family, and politicians alike?
“So you risked your life to save her, potentially losing the throne to Azula, and the Fire Nation’s only chance of ending the war, because you’re just friends?”
“Good friends.”
“And when he went down, you ran towards him, hand extended out to heal him without any regard for your life, despite his maniacal sister still being in the fight… Crying when you revived him. All out of friendship?”
“Yes.”
I want to know how this conversation went down, what the reactions were, and how Zuko and Katara explained their way out of the situation. Because we all know Suki and Sokka would absolutely not believe them, Hakoda and Kanna would overanalyze their interactions from that point on, because that’s his daughter/her granddaughter, and the whole world would just wonder if they’re both in denial.
