We need more “Dad Lore” about the Gen Two dads in this podcast. I guess the ‘your dads are secret agents and doomed two worlds and kill people’ thing comes close but it just ain’t right. I need to find out that Sparrow was the sub in bassist at the Cincinnati Imagine Dragons reunion tour concert or some shit like that. Like Nick’s potential for Dad Lore is insane.

We have Dad facts we have Teen facts but what we really need is Kid-Dad Facts.

Sparrow to Grant: Yeah, well I don't know if it's safe for Normal to be around Lincoln since your child literally has poisoned other children before.

Yes! I think it was the best response anyone could’ve given Normal in that moment. While I do think Scary and Taylor meant what they said, I think it was a too “frivolous” response. Normal’s at a point where he feels like he can’t really trust what they’re saying or that they actually mean it so to him it probably felt like they were just saying what they thought he wanted to hear.

Not to mention that being told you’re “the glue” gives off the same vibe as being called “the mom friend”/“the therapist friend” where your place in the group is to just manage everyone and their emotions/problems while yours take the back burner and no one does the same for you. Normal is definitely tried of being that person and not getting it back so I really don’t think that was anywhere close to what he need to be told in that moment, even if Scary and Taylor do really mean it and appreciate what he does for them.

Linc straight up saying “I want you around because it’s easier for me when you are” I feel like is so much better than “you’re the glue” in this scenario. It doesn’t put any expectations on Normal or any specifics that he feels he needs to adhere to in order to still be “useful” to his friends. And I think it’s especially nice that even while Normal really does feel like a fuck up that ruins everything he touches, this whole time he has still made someone’s life easier by just being around.

I honestly think Linc was really real when he was talking to Normal and I think some people might think it was too harsh, but I really do get it. Like yeah, I hope you stay around and yeah, a lot of those reasons are selfish. And at the end of the day I can’t tell you what you think you need to hear to feel better because there’s nothing I can say, and nothing you’d truly believe that will change your mind, but right now I’m happy you’re here and would be sad to see you go. And all I can really offer you is to be by your side and push forward and hope that changes anything. And even if it doesn’t I’m glad we still tried together.
