He gone. Hopefully. The end of a saga in Pittsburgh. By:Teej
Well the day that has been on the horizon for months has finally came. Antonio Brown has been traded. The Steelers have a verbal agreement to trade Brown to Oakland for a 3rd and 5th round pick. Though this is not the return any Steeler fan wanted for arguably the best WR in the league. It ends up looking like it’s all the Steelers could get where Brown would actually go play.
Finally the drama with Brown and the Steelers came to an end, however not at a price to the Steelers. Brown won this trade and screwed over the Steelers in the process with being such a pain in the ass on social media that it drove down his market value as well as team willing to bring him in. I am interested to see how he handles going from a team who has be consistently in the playoffs and a contender to a team who has been in the dumps for years. Also going from a future HOF QB to Derek Carr who has not been the same QB since his injury in 2017.
Early last week it looked like Brown was on his way to Buffalo. However rumor has it Brown was not going to show up and was not going to try to restructure his contract with the Bills.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With this trade the Steelers will need to add a WR through the draft or free agency. The Steelers also are on the hook for 21million in dead cap to Brown as well. This obviously hurts who they are able to sign and bring in to contribute right away.
Tumblr media
Though losing arguably the best WR and best RB in one off-season is never something a franchise wants both Bell and Brown did not want to play for the Steelers and ruined their relationship with the team and controlled their own destiny at the end if the day. The killer B Sega in Pittsburgh is officially over.

Superbowl 53 Preview: By:Teej
Tumblr media
The day has come! The biggest sports day possibly in the world, the sports event that had became pretty much a national holiday. Where Americans will stuff their face with dips, chips, pigs in a blanket and wings, while chasing it down with a cold beer. The Superbowl is here! We will be seeing the Los Angeles Rams (formally the St. Louis Rams) take on the New England Patriots (they cheat) in Altana Georgia. Let's review how we got this matchup. Both teams has a bye coming out of the season, both teams were the number 2 seeds of their conference, both teams won in overtime in their conference championships. Those these have a lot in common as far as their seasons go, the make up of the teams couldn't be anything more than different.
The Patriots have been for years made up of average to good players not real super stars except for one or two here and there (besides Brady). Mean while the Rams have stars all over the field. Let's look on offense, we have Todd Gurley who has been a start running back since coming into the league back in 2015 as a first round pick out of Georgia, one offense the Rams also bring two receivers that offer different things. Brandin Cooks (was on the Patriots in 2017) offers the deep threat he can burn a team at any point in the game, meanwhile Robert Woods offers more of your possession type style of play. On the defensive side of the ball we have names all over the field. Starting on the Rams D-line we have 3 former first round picks in Ndamukong Suh, Dante Fowler and your 2018 defensive player of the year Aaron Donald. Then you take a look at their secondary where they have Aquib Talib, Marcus Please, and Lamarcus Joyner. While the Rams have names all over the field the Patriots have gotten to the big time after time with names like Chris Hogan (former lacrosse player at Penn State), James White (always shows up in the Superbowl) Philip Dorsett. The Patriots do however bring the QB with the most Superbowl appearances (9) in Tom Brady and one of the best tight ends to ever play the game in Rob Gronkowski. Brady and the Patriots come into this game playing the underdog card because of some media saying that they looked done earlier in the season and that Brady looked old (he did). That has been their bulletin board material all playoffs and now going in to the Superbowl they can say they're underdogs but Vegas actually has them favored to win.
Both teams come in with a high powered offense that will look to put up points, however Belichick is known for shutting down offenses in the big game. I do believe however this will not be the case today. We have two have the old regime in Belichick vs the new kid on the block Sean McVay. Both coaches will find a way to get their teams in a place to succeed. I look forward to seeing how this is done.
Some story lines to look at in today's game.
The age difference between the two coaches, which is the largest of any Superbowl ever (33 years).
The age gap between the Brady and Goff (17 years).
Goff is the earliest first round QB back to reach their first Superbowl.
Brady record 9th Superbowl appearance
Brady looking to tie an NFL record 6th Superbowl (tie with Steelers)
The destiny that is the Patriots started in 2001 against the then St. Louis Rams.
Picking the winner of the Superbowl is never easy, both teams are obviously great and are their for a reason. Many times things happen that may never happen again such as, a backup QB being the MVP in a game against the Patriots, throwing it from the one yard line with one of the best backs in the league, a 99 yard interception touchdown. I could go on with all the insane moments that have happened in the Superbowl and this year I am sure will be no different. Though my heart is telling me to pick the LA Rams and would love to see them come away carrying the trophy, my mind is telling me don't be stupid don't pick against Tom Brady.... Who do I listen to?
My official pick to win Superbowl 53 by a score of 31-24 is
Tumblr media
That's right I am going with my head and taking Brady and the Patriots to win Superbowl 53. As a NFL and Steelers fan I hope I am wrong but history has taught me not to pick against the Patriots, and hopefully by me picking them to win I jinx them and the Rams pull the upset. Let us sit back eat a ton of bad food, drink one to many beers and watch the biggest game of 2019.

Go get that dolla Dolla bill y'all - By: Teej
Tumblr media
In recent years the NFL has seen a turn in who they are giving the money out to. The one thing that has not changed is the Quarterback position, it has and always will be the highest earning position in the NFL. (Highest pay 33.5 mil per year) Other positions that are getting paid are Wide Receiver, and pass rushers. In recent years the running back position has not be progressing with ever other position as far as income goes.
Players like LeVeon Bell are sitting out entire seasons because they're not getting the money they think they're worth (turned down 14 mil per year) . RB is one of the hardest position to turn into a long career in the NFL. The average length of an NFL athlete is 3.3 years, remember this is on non guaranteed conteacts. Running Backs are getting in car crashes everytime they touch the ball. These athletes are going up against others who are 250+ running 4.5s. Also the RB position has transformed over the yards to a position, where for you to be a successful back you must be able to run routes and catch the ball out of the backfield. The top RBs in the league (Elliott, Bell, Gurley, D. Johnson, Gordon) are great out of the backfield. This position is changing how defenses are playing and how teams are drafting. You're seeing athletes coming out of college small than they may have been I'm the past but faster than ever before. The game has changed so much over the years and it's time for those back to cash in.
Often times as fans we are on the franchises side when it comes to contracts, and how the team is ran. We often call these athletes spoiled or divas (many are divas) but we don't take a step back and look at it from their point of view. For example let's look at LeVeon Bell since he is due to hit free agency and will definitely cash in this off-season. Now I'm not completely on his side due to his injury history and off field issues in the past however I am able to see it from his point of view. He is a game changer, and likely the top back in the NFL.

The G.O.A.T debate. By:Teej
Tumblr media
I wish i could say this is the G.O.A.T of blogs but lets be honest its average at best its comparable to the Cincinnati Bengals shows promise but it will let you down. Every year, every season we all have the discussion who the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) is. Wether it be LeBron vs MJ, or Brady vs Montana. Obviously this is a hard comparison with today's sports and sports leagues of the past. Here we debate which is true 🐐.  Lets look at the NBA,NHL and NFL, I chose to not look at the MLB due the change of the sport over the years.
NBA G.O.A.T- LeBron vs MJ
Tumblr media
LeBron vs MJ. O how the NBA has changed since the MJ years. MJ came into the NBA out of North Carolina in 1984 being the 3rd overall pick to the Chicago Bulls. Jordan would go on to play 15 total season in the NBA ( 14 with the Bulls, 1 with Wizards), putting up 32,292 total points (5th all time) , 6 NBA titles (tied for 10th), 10 scoring titles (most overall), 5 MVP awards, 6 Finals MVP award,  2 Olympic gold medals,  as well as being one of the greatest clutch performers of all time having decided 25 games with field goals or free throws in the last 30 seconds. Throughout Jordans career he did have a great supporting staff around him with, having played with a total of 6 NBA All-Stars one of which is a Hall of Famer (Scottie Pippen). Jordan retired from the NBA for the first time in 1993, citing a loss of desire to play the game. Pursued a career in Baseball during his first retirement, where he played with the Chicago White Sox, and eventually was sent down to the minors. After a quick stint in baseball, MJ came back to the Bulls in 1995 where the went on a 13-4 run to make playoffs and advance to the Eastern Conference championship. After his return to basketball, that is when the 2nd 3 peat came for the Bulls and giving Jordan his 6 total titles. Jordan retired for a 2nd time in 1999, but later return in 2001 however this time it was with the Washington Wizards. In 2001 Jordan still lead the time in scoring. However the following two seasons he was in more of a reserve role. with all the all the stats backing him how can anyone thing anyone could be greater?
Tumblr media
Many of people today say LeBron James is the G.O.A.T, physically LeBron is an athletic freak at 6′8 250 (Mj 6′6 216) he is able to do things we have never seen before. Plus with today's NBA rules it has been even more in his favor. LeBron just this year suffered a somewhat serious injury missing a total of 17 games so far this season. James has never played a full 82 game season (Jordan played nine full seasons). James has been in the league for 15 years since being drafted 1st overall in 2003 to his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since being drafted and 3 different teams, James has scored  31,966 (5th all time), won 3 NBA titles (2 with Miami, 1 with Cavs), earning 1 scoring title, 4 MVP awards, 3 Finals MVP award,  and helping team USA earn 2 Olympic gold medals. LeBron has been the superstar that has been the guy in the NBA for the last 15 years, however he has been ridiculed for his discussion to leave Cleveland twice. The first time he left he made a over the top decision to announce on live television that he was going to Miami to play with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. After playing 4 seasons in Miami he went back to Cleveland for 4 years and most recently signing with the LA Lakers. Though LeBron is more physically gifted it took him a lot longer to earn his titles, all while playing with 11 NBA All Stars. There is no doubting his a great one but Jordan is and probably  always will be the G.O.A.T of the NBA.  No one besides Jordan and James are in the conversation (no Kobe)
NHL G.O.A.T
Tumblr media
Pittsburgh legend and hero Mario Lemieux saved the Pittsburgh Penguins both as a player, than as an owner but is he the G.O.A.T of the NHL? Lets take a look at the stats between Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. This comparison is a little easier than that of LeBron, and Jordan due to the fact that these players played in pretty much the same era of the sport. For example it wasn't until later in Lemieuxs career that he experienced goalies who were athletes and wore larger pads.
Gretzky wasn’t actually drafted however he was selected by Edmonton Oilers in 1979 in the WHA/NHL merger. In major juniors everyone could tell that Gretzky was going to be a superstar and sure enough he was. In Gretzkys 20 seasons he earned many accolades (61 NHL records). Gretzky has the most career goals 894, 1,963 assist, points 2,857, and hat tricks with 50. Gretzky also earned 4 NHL titles, as well 9 NHL MVP awards. At 6 ft 185 Gretzky was not physically dominant  however his speed and skill definitely made up for it. Especially when the goalies he was going against were wearing small padding/ protected to help stop the puck
Tumblr media
Mario Lemieux, came into the NHL in 1984 as the 1st overall pick to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 17 seasons in the NHL, Lemieux was the player that teams were tanking their seasons to earn the 1st overall pick. Lemieux had the size and skill that NHL organizations were drooling over. Lemieux came in at 6′4 230, with speed, hands and a shot that goalies lost sleep over. Lemieux earn the rookie of the year award, 2 time player of the year award, Top scorer award, 3 time MVP, 1 time finals MVP, as well as a Olympic gold medal. Lemieux is in 8th on the all time scorers list, having 1,723 points. When comparing Lemieux and Gretzky you must look at what Lemiuex over came. Lemieux missed significant time battling debilitating back issues and, far more importantly, fighting the cancer he was diagnosed with at age 27. By missing all this time he played less than 1,000 games he is the only player in the top 30 of point scorers to have done this. In fact he played 573 games less than Gretzky. Lemiuex also did not have the surrounding talent that Gretzky have. Both players played with an additional 6 Hall of Famers. They both made the players around them better and it showed year in and year out. These players come in at 1 and 2 in points per game, with Gretzky being 1. However I can not over look the state of the franchises when both players came in. The Penguins were a joke of a franchise at the time of Lemiuex being drafted. Plus with what he had to overcome with injuries and fight cancer makes him the G.O.A.T.
NFL. G.O.A.T - Brady vs Montana
With the Superbowl being right around the corner this may be the most important topic today. Who is the greatest of all time to play the QB position. I will answer this without any stats needed. As much as it pains me to say this (as a Steelers fan) it is Tom Brady.
Tumblr media
Brady has been a torn in many franchises side since being becoming the starting QB for the New England Patriots in 2001. Some stats to help back up the fact that Brady is indeed the G.O.A.T are, 5 Superbowl titles(Looking for his 6th) (Montana has 4) 4 Superbowl MVP awards (Joe has 3), 3 League MVP awards (Joe has 2). Brady also has the record for most wins by a QB (207), best TD to interception ratio (28:2), most road wins (92), most wins at home (115), Most TDs with a team (40) 4th all tie in passing yards (70,514), 4th all time in completions (6,004), and the 3rd most Passing TD’s (517). Unfortunately Brady does not seem like he is ready to retire anytime soon, he has stated he wants to play for about 5 or more years. Lets all hope that he changes his mind.
MJ, Mario Lemieux, and Tom Brady.= The 🐐

Guess who's back, back again : By Teej
2nd all time in receiving yards
2004 1st Rd pick
1,303 catches
16,279 yards
116 TD's
19 different QBs
College number retired
11* Pro-Bowler
Walter Payton Man of the Year
Can you name that NFL superstar? Those would be the stats of future Hall of Famer, former Pitt wide receiver, and current Arizona Cardinal Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals announced on Wednesday January 23rd that they have signed Fitzgerald back on a one year contract for Fitz 16th season. Fitzgerald is a hall of famer on the field, as well as off. Fitzgerald is one of the most well respected talents of our generation. Fitzgerald has been the one consistent in Arizona, going through 19 different QBs, 4 different coaches, and only 2 GMs. The fact he has gone through all this and is still and all time great is remarkable. Fitzgerald is a football all young kids/adults should look up too, a constant professional who keeps to themselves and just goes to work day in and day out. While his play has fallen off in recent years (734 yards in 2018). Still a fan favorite and a future first ballot hall of famer, Fitzgerald will play until he no longer chooses to do so. Having only been to one Superbowl, he is a player who surely deserves better QB play and a better overall team around him. Going into 2019 Fitzgerald has a 2nd year QB and a new coach let's see what the NFL has in store for him this year.

Championship Weekend Wrap up: By Teej
Well this past weekend was an exciting one. We had both games go into overtime for the first time ever in the NFL. With Overtime comes drama, not only did the overtime bring drama, there was drama throughout both games. We had missed calls, close calls, and unbelievable plays.
Lets review the first game of Sunday that took place in New Orleans, at the Mercedes- Benz Superdome, were the Saints welcomed in the Los Angeles Rams. Both teams came in with balanced team on both sides of the ball. Many thought the this game was going to be won on the ground with both teams coming in loaded in the backfield. However this turned out not to be the case with both teams rushing for a combined 125 yards and only one score. This game was won on big plays and miscues. While the run game may not have been there, that did not take out Alvin Kamara from the game script. Kamara caught 11 balls on 13 targets for 96 yards, Brees was able to find Kamara all over the field in the first half.  The leading producer offensively for the Rams besides Goff was Brandin Cooks (Ex. Saints WR), Cooks caught 7 balls for 107.
This game had become a back and forth game after the half even though the Saints got out to a 13-0 lead early. The drama in this game had come with two minutes left in the 4th quarter with the Saints driving. It was 3rd and 10 at the Rams 13 yard line, and Tommylee Lewis went out into the flats for a easy completion. That was until wham! Nickell Robey-Coleman lays out Lewis without ever getting his head turn around to even try to play the ball. Coleman not only didn't try to play the ball but he got to Lewis about 2 seconds before the ball. Clear pass interference right?
Tumblr media
Wrong! The referees did not throw the flag and the Saints would have to settle for a go ahead field goal leaving the Rams with around 1:40 left on the clock with a timeout to get into Greg Zuerleins range. The Rams successfully drove down to give Zuerlein the opportunity to knock in a 48 yard field goal to tie it at 23 going into overtime. In overtime the Saints had when the toss and elected to receive the ball first. BUT! Drew Bress threw and interception after being hit and having the ball tipped at the line of scrimmage; Rams safety John Johnson was able to adjust and come down with the tipped ball. This gave the Rams great field position, starting at their own 46 yard line. They would need only about 22 yards to get in where Zuerleins range (has career long of 61 yards). The Rams were able to get it down into the 40 yard line and bring on Legatron (Zuerleins nickname) to attempt a 57 yard field goal to send the Ram to Atlanta for Superbowl 52.  (It was good from about 65)
Tumblr media
Now everyone reading this could have probably guessed the outcome of the AFC Championship game that took place for the first time ever in Arrowhead Stadium Kansas City. Yep you guessed it..... The New England Patriots are headed to Superbowl 52 (3rd straight, 11 Total Appearances). Lets take a look at how they were able to get past the red hot Kansas City Chiefs. The Patriots came into this game with many people questioning them (the Pats played this up all week), they actually came in as 3 point underdogs. The reason for them being underdogs are for a number of reasons, one of those reason are they are 0-3 in away AFC Championship games. The Chiefs came in with their MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, who was the 6th player to throw 5k yards as well as 50 touchdowns. The Pats got out to a great start running the back down the field on their first possession taking down the clock while doing so. The would end up scoring a TD their first drive while taking 8 minutes of the clock. The Patriots stayed the course all half and shut down KC’s offense. They were able to take a 14 point lead into the half. The Patriots were also able to take 17 to 7 point lead into the 4th. It looked like the Patriots were well on their way to the Superbowl. That was until Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to put up 24 in the 4th. in the 4th came the drama just like the NFC game. With 8:46 left in the 4th, the Chiefs were forced to punt the ball away down 17-14, when on a bouncing ball it appear Julian Edelman had muffed the punt with a clear KC recovery.
Tumblr media
On the drive that proceeded this play, the Chiefs Chris Jones was called for roughing the passer for making contact with the QBs head. You can see in the image below Jones barely grazed Bradys face mask but this was enough to give the Patriots 15 yards and a 1st down.
Tumblr media
They would go on to cap this drive off with a 10 yard score from Sony Michel, who had another great showing in his rookie campaign (29 carriers 113 yards 2 scores).
Both teams would go on to exchange scores, but not without some more drama. It looked the Chiefs may have had the game in the back with an interception of an overthrown ball, that was intended for Gronkowiski. The ball went off his finger tips right into the hands of corner back Charvarius Ward. With 1:01 left to play in the forth it looked like the Chiefs were on their way. However there was a flag on the play against the Chiefs. Dee Ford had lined up off sides and wiped out the play.
Tumblr media
The Patriots would drive down the field and get he go head touch down with less than 40 seconds left to play and up by 3. With the short of time it was going to have to take some Mahomes magic to get into field goal range. Sure enough that is exactly what happened, the Chiefs were able to drive down the field with under 40 seconds left and hit a 39 yard field goal to send it into overtime.
We go to over time where the Patriots elected to receive the ball first, and unfortunately  drove down the field just like the did in the very first possession of the game. They capped off the drive with a 2 yard score from Rex Burkhead ( his 2nd of the game) to send the Patriots to Super Bowl 52.
Superbowl 52 should be a good one when the LA Rams take on the New England Patriots. It is the old regime in Brady and Belichick, versus the new kids on the block in Sean McVay and Jared Goff. I hope everyone is with me in cheering for the LA Rams to defeat the Patriots hopefully in embarrassing fashion!  #RAMiT

The Transfer Portal: The great unknown. By: Teej
Tumblr media
Let's first talk about what a awesome name "Transfer Portal" is, it sounds like it's straight out of a SiFi movie, or from an anime or even a special power.
For those of you who do not know what the transfer portal is: it's a system that the NCAA implemented in October to give students athletes a way to enter their names for other programs to contact them and offer them a scholarship. However just because an athlete enters in this "portal" does not mean he or she are committed to leaving their current program. It is simply giving them a chance to explore their options.
The transfer portal is a way better system for students athletes who may not be getting the playing time they want or that have new coaches or whatever the case may be. The old system often handicapped the athletes from talking to certain programs or schools.
The NCAA has already made millions of athletes and every bit of freedom those athletes get I am a fan of. I know many people say that "these athletes get a free education though". While I agree with this, think about how these student athletes can't even make money off their own names. Mean while the schools are bringing in millions each year from the different sporting events. I am not saying athletes should be paid as professional athletes but there has to be a happy medium that is fair for both the athletes and the schools.
What are your thoughts on the NCAA and their athletes?

Steelers= Reality TV. :By Teej
Tumblr media
Well 2019 started just like 2018 for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Drama drama and more drama. The Steelers have been in the head lines for last couple of years and not for the right reasons. Let's take a quick look back at the drama over the years.
August 2014- LeGarrette Blount and LeVeon Bell get charged with possession of marijuana.
August 2015- Martavis Bryant suspended for violating leagues substance abuse policy.
2016- Martavis Bryant suspended the entire season for violating leagues substance abuse policy
Summer of 2017- Bryant and Sammie Coats go back and forth on Twitter about who JuJu Smith-Schuster was going to replace. (Answer is Sammie Coats)
Start of 2017 season: LeVeon Bell holds out until regular season.
Start of 2018 season: LeVeon Bell doesn't sign franchise tag by deadline after going back and forth on Twitter saying he planned on showing.
End of 2018/2019 season: Antonio Brown drama.
Tumblr media
So as you can see since 2014 there have been headlines about the Steelers and the drama that seems to follow them. Most recently being the Antonio Brown drama. Browns drama steems from week 17 of the regular season and continues today. Brown on the last week of practice got into a confrontation with Ben Roethlisberger, reports say that the two exchanged words and that Brown threw a ball in the direction of Ben. Following this practice Brown did not show up the rest of the week for practice or for the Saturday morning walk through. When reporting to the stadium Sunday Brown fully expected to play. However Brown was benched for him not reporting to practices or returning phone calls from coaches and teammates. The Steelers actually listed Brown out with a knee injury in this game. (don't know why they lied about the situation) After finding out that he was going to be benched Brown decided it would be best for him to leave at halftime. (Not a great look) Since week 17 Brown has not responded to Tomlin, Ben or even owner Art Rooney II. When asked about Browns chances of returning to the Steelers organization Ronney stated "it would be hard to envision".
Brown has been all over social media. He recorded a Instagram live video with James Harrison (he is not a big fan of Tomlins) while the Mike Tomlin press conference was going on, he has also been tweeting at players of the San Francisco 49ers, he has deleted the Pittsburgh Steelers from his Twitter and Instagram pages while following the 49ers accounts and also liked someone's fan art of him in a 49ers jersey. Most recently Brown had spoken with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, and expressed a lot of interest in playing for the 49ers. Rice told 95.7 The Game when ask "Does Antonio Brown want to be a 49er" Rice's responded saying "he wants to come here really badly".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The drama has to end sometime right? The Steelers need to get a hold of their team soon rather than later if they want to have any chance at winning anytime soon. Ben isn't getting any younger and you don't find franchise Quarterbacks just laying around.
Brown will likely be traded before the start of next season. It's reported the Steelers are looking for at least a 1st Rd pick for Brown and should have no issue receiving that when we just saw Amari Cooper get traded for a first rounder. Some teams that have been brought up include.
- San Francisco 49ers
- New York Jets
- Denver Broncos
- Arizona Cardinals
Other teams are likely to pop up but based off rumors that are coming up I realistically see it being the 4 teams mentioned above.
Let's me know your thoughts on Antonio Brown and the Steelers organization.

Have you seen my baseball.. The Kyler Murray story: By Teej
Tumblr media
After being drafted 9th overall by the Oakland Athletics in last years MLB draft, Kyler Murray went on to become this years Heisman Trophy winner. Murray put up video game like stats all year. As a junior Murray posted over 1k rushing and over 4k passing, while rushing for 12 scores and throwing for another 42 with only 7 interceptions. These numbers were what allowed him to run away with the Heisman, he put these numbers up at Oklahoma as a 5'10 Quarterback. Murray was simply the best athlete on the field every week he played.
Kyler Murray has a problem many people wish they had, be a professional Outfielder and make millions or be a professional Quarterback and make millions. Well let's discuss. On one hand Kyler Murray has already been drafted in the 1st Rd into the MLB but will likely have to play his way up to the big leagues at least for half of his first season. On the other hand being a professional QB is never a bad choice for someone who some NFL GMs seeing going in the 1st Rd this coming April.
To me the choice is an easy one..
If I am Kyler Murray I am going to the play baseball. He was already guaranteed 4.66 million based off his signing bonus. Recently the MLB has waived a rule that prevents teams from giving major league contracts to recently drafted players. This has allowed the A's to offer up more guaranteed money to Murray. It was originally reported that Murray was seeking 15 million (this had been determined to be inaccurate). However Murray is still looking for more guaranteed money to come his way, the A's have been trying to come up with creative ways to come up with some additional dollars for the former Heisman trophy winner. For the MLB to get a former Heisman trophy winner to choose baseball over football would be huge from a PR standpoint. It should be noted that Murray recently declared for the NFL draft, many think this is a tactic to get the A's to push more cash Murrays way (myself included)
Tumblr media
Though Kyler Murray was the best college football player this past year, there is no getting over his size at his position. Murray comes in at 5'10 (on a good day) weighing 195. As many know this is not an ideal size for an NFL quarterback (average size is 6'3 225). Murray would match the shortest NFL quarterback record of 5'10 with Doug Flutie. While Flutie had some what of a successful career, most GMs do not like going with a Quarterback under 6ft. Currently Russell Wilson (5'11) is the only QB listen under 6ft in the NFL. It can definitely be a challenge for shorter QBs in the NFL, D-lineman are getting bigger and that means more tipped balls at the line of scrimmage. Murray much like Wilson would have to be creative with how he delivers the ball to his receivers. His scrambling and running ablility would allow him to do this.
If he is truly interested in pressuring a NFL career, if I am a GM I am not taking a 1st Rd flyer on him, I feel his size just may be to much to over come in the NFL. Plus the MLB contracts are guaranteed where as the NFL are not. So getting smashed by 350+ D-lineman or getting hit by a 95 mph fastball for the next 5-10 yrs? I am taking the fastball all day.

Divisional round wrap up By:Teej
Well ladies and gents, we are down to 3 NFL games. I know it's sad, but don't cry we still have some great football to watch. My predictions were a little off last week, having both the Cheifs and Patriots losing.... both teams domaniated in their matchups.
AFC division wrap up:
MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes and his defense showed up on Saturday in domaniating fashion. Mahomes did what he has been doing all year, making great plays and scoring TDs. The two factors that not many would have seen were the Chiefs defense shutting down the Colts. As well the Chiefs controlling the time of possession with their run game. Now on their third running back of the season in Damien Williams, who ran for 129 yards on 25 touches averaging over 4 yards a carry. This is the Chiefs first AFC championship game since their last home playoff win which game in 1994.
Stop me if you heard this one before. Tom Brady and the Patriots are headed to the AFC championship game. (Please retire already) The Patriots came out clicking on all cylinders scoring Touchdowns on their first 4 drives. The Chargers made the mistake so many others have made. They played zone coverage versus Tom Brady at Gillette Stadium. Like so many others Tom Brady torched them. Not only did Tom Brady torch the Chargers defense, so did rookie running back Sony Michael. Michael racked up over 100 yards on the ground and 3 scores on the day. Another Patriots running back had a day to remember as well, James White had 15 receptions for 97 yards. Teams need to learn from one another. DO NOT PLAY ZONE AGAINST THE PATRIOTS. This is the Patriots 8th consistent AFC championship game appearance, while winning 4 of the past 8.
NFC division wrap up:
Well young stud coach Sean Mcvay got his Rams team to the NFC championship game. The Rams offense outmatched the Cowboys all over the field. The Rams controlled the clock all game with their run game. They are the first playoff team to have two running backs rush for over 100 yards. Cj Anderson and his one cut running style rushed for 123 yrds on 23 carries and scoring 2 TDs, while his backfield partner Todd Gurley rushed for 115 on 16 carries while rushing for a score as well. These two carried their team into the LA Rams first NFC championship birth since 1989. (The franchise also made the NFC championship game while they were in St. Louis in 2001)
The final game of the divisional round we saw the Philadelphia Eagles head into the big easy to take on Drew Brees and the Saints in the Super Dome. This game game down to the end with a costly Philadelphia interception. The interception happened after a pass intended for Alshon Jeffrey went right through his hands into the waiting arms of Marcus Lattimore. Before the interception it looked like the Nick Foles was going to once again have a trick up his sleeve and get them in position to score the go ahead touchdown. The Eagles started with great field position after Will Lutz missed a 53 yard field goal. However the Saints were able to intercept the pass and stop the come back and cemented the win with a first down by Alvin Kamara to run out the clock. This was probably Nick Foles last game in an Eagles uniform as he looks to hit the free agent market. Saints are making a trip back to the NFC championship game after losing last year in the divisional round on a last second Hail Mary. This is the Saints first trip back since 2010, where they went on to win the Superbowl versus the Colts.
SUPERBOWL PREDICTION
I have the Patriots beating the Chiefs.(I just threw up thinking about that statement) Bill Belichick will figure out how to stop Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs red hot offense. They shut down Mahomes when they plsyed earlier this season where the Patriots pulled out a 43-40 victory. Though Mahomes threw for 352 yards and 4 scores he also had 2 interceptions which were costly. Mark it down Patriots in the Superbowl (once again)
Tumblr media
Now to the NFC championship game. I like both of these teams coming into this game both have a good run game where they have two running backs who can carry the load and these two teams a very similar in how they play. While the Rams have more weapons on the outside with Woods and Cooks. The Saints have the better overall weapon in Michael Thomas, they also have a future first ballot Hall Famer in Drew Brees leading the offense. I believe both the NFC teams are better on defense than their AFC counterparts, therefore I am taking either one of these teams over the AFC side. However for this game. The Saints will come out on top. Drew Brees leading his team at home versus Jared Goff, I am riding with Brees 10 out 10 times.

Saints versus Patriots February 3rd in Superbowl 53 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta Georgia.

To play or not to play? Ovi to skip the all Star game: By:Teej
Tumblr media
It's time for some hockey talk!
It's not uncommon for many NFL players to sit out the Pro bowl, but it's not common to hear about a NHL player sitting out their All Star game. Well that was until Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin decided to sit out this years game, even though he was named Metropolitan Division Captain. Ovi stated he planned on not attending in order to take advantage of the bye week and prepare for the second half of the season. With him deciding to sit out, the NHL had to do something so that others players wouldn't follow suit. The NHL handed down a one game suspension and Ovechkin must sit out either the game vs the Maple Leafs on Jan. 23rd or their February 1st matchup vs the Calgary Flames. I understand why the NHL suspended Ovi. however I agree with his decision. Even with Ovechkin skipping the game it will still be filled with super stars like McDavid, Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, Matthews and the other usual NHLers, both in the game as well as the skills competition (best part of All Star weekend).
I believe every athlete in their perspective sports should be able to decide wether or not they plan to attend their All Star game. All Star games were once a fun and exciting event but now there is to much money to be made throughout a athletes career to risk the potential money they could earn for one All Star game. I am also okay with athletes skipping their All Star game simply because All Star games usually suck. No athlete is trying, no athlete really cares about the outcome. If you have not noticed I am against All Star games, (though I love the 3 on 3 NHL format). I am all for voting for All Stars, however hold skill competitions and not actual games. This way you will have the best of the best attending, as well as different form of entertainment for the fans. Unfortunately these games will never be chancelled the leagues make to much money off of them.
Comment and let me know your thoughts on the Ovi situation as well as All Star games as a whole.

NFL Divisional Round Preview: By: Teej
Tumblr media
It is a sad time of the year, but also the best time of the year! It is true its NFL playoff season, however that also means we are close to the end of the NFL season, only 11 total games left.
Quick recap from the wild card weekend, ready go. Eagles got a couple fingers on a last second field goal, Chargers forced a sack fumble to advance (Thank god), Colts dominated the Texans, and the Cowboys ran past the Seahawks. Now on to this week, where teams are playing to advance to the AFC & NFC championship games.  All 4 match-ups are projected to be great games; all 8 teams are coming in hot into the playoffs.
AFC Match Ups
Colts at Chiefs (Saturday 4:35 pm)
The Indianapolis Colts come in at 10-6 after the regular season and starting 1-5. They are the first team to ever make the playoffs with a starting record of 1-5. The Colts are hot on both sides of the ball, defensively they have Darius Leonard who many think should without a doubt be Defensive Rookie of the year, he did after all make the All Pro Team (but not the Pro Bowl, not sure how that happens) The Colts also have a brick wall at the offensive line led by their 2018 1st round pick Quenton Nelson; or as he recently stated in an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show 2.0” you may also call him “Mean Son-of-a-Bitch”. Though they are young on both sides of the ball, they are complete on both sides of the ball. They have veteran leadership as well, Andrew Luck is fully back, as well a veteran presence in special teams with Adam Vinatieri.
The Kansa City Chiefs have been red hot all season, mainly due to this seasons soon to be MVP Patrick Mahomes II. Mahomes and the Chiefs finished the season 12-4 even with the 27th ranked defense; to be honest their defense is terrible, no two ways about it. The Chiefs did get their former all pro safety Eric Berry for only 2 games this season and is questionable for Sunday. The Chiefs need all the help they can get on that side of the ball. O and if you haven’t heard the Chiefs simply don’t win home playoff games, they have not won a home playoff game since Joe Montana did back in 1994. This is why I am taking the Colts in this game both to cover the spread (-5.5) as well as to win the game straight up.
Chargers at Patriots (Sunday 1:05 pm)
The LA Chargers come in to this game off a win against the Ravens where they stacked the box and shut down the high school offense of the Baltimore Ravens. They almost let it slip through their hands in the 4th quarter, but were able to stop the Ravens final drive with a forced fumble. The Chargers may be the deepest team left in the playoffs. They have young super stars on both sides of the ball as well has veterans, the Charges led the league with 7 pro bowlers, led by their captain and leader Philip Rivers who is trying to earn his first trip to the Super bowl and earn a ring like his two 2004 1st round counter parts . The Chargers are expected to have Melvin Gordon back for this game though he may not be 100% he is still a game changer, as well as are the Chargers wide receivers which just may be the deepest in the league, especially now that they are getting their promising young star tight end Hunter Henry back this Sunday.  Their defense also is full of Talent from their D-line all the way back to their secondary. With stars at Defensive end (Joey Bosa), linebacker (Melvin Ingram), and Safety (Derwin James), these three super stars are the reason I am taking the Chargers on Sunday (-4).
As a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan its very rare for me to ever cheer for the New England Patriots, for obvious reason (Jesse caught it). Today is no different, I will not be rooting for the Patriots this weekend, nor do I think they have enough on either side of the ball to win. The one thing that the Patriots do have on their side is home field advantage (again) and the best coach and quarterback of all time. With these two people one the Patriots sideline you can never fully count out the Patriots. With that being said I don’t see how the Patriots have a chance to advance past this round. The destiny that I have come to hate may finally come to an end. Brady is not getting any younger, nor is Rob Gronkowski who has been dominate for so long but this year he has often looked very slow and beaten down. With Gronk looking slow, the Patriots having recently cut Josh Gordon (he got high again) and not much defensive depth, they are having to rely on Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan as well as pass catchers out of the back field (James White, Rex Burkhead).  While they have a stud rookie running back in Sony Michael, I truly don’t think that is enough.  However you can never count out Tom and Bill (God damnit just retire)
Cowboys at Rams (Saturday 8:15 pm)
Dallas comes in off a big win versus the Seattle Seahawks last week, where the offense ran through two weapons. Those weapons are Amari Cooper, and the NFL rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott, both offensive weapons went over 100+ scrimmage yards. I see that trend to continue for one of these young starts this week.  I would fully expect Elliott to have 100+ scrimmage yards against the Rams; this offense goes through him this is no secret. Simply this game will come down to the Dallas Cowboys run game and the Rams front 7.
The LA Rams come in off their bye week they earn witha record of 13-3 where they were red hot all through the season, every football fan will remember their record breaking Monday night game versus the Chiefs with the final of 54-51 in favor of the Rams.  The Rams are stacked on both sides of the ball, with their defense being led by Defensive player of the Year Aaron Donald.  Some names fans may recognize on the defense besides Donald are Suh, Donte Fowler, Joyner, Peters, Shields, and Aqib Talib, unfortunately  these names have not produced . In fact their defense has been by far their weakest link. Their offense is high powered but, Goff can be thrown off his game with just a little bit of pressure; they have arguably the best offensive weapon in Todd Gurley, as well as weapons at wide receiver in Brandin Cooks, and Robert Woods. The Rams surely miss their young star slot receiver Cooper Kupp however, who has been out since 10 with a torn ACL. With all that being said I do not see the Cowboys being able to keep up with the high powered Rams offense. Take the Rams to win but I would not take the Rams +7.
Eagles at Saints (Sunday 4:40 pm)
Philadelphia’s savior Big dick Nick is back into the playoffs again, they got past the Bears and now onto the New Orleans Saints. Well for all the Eagle fans I am sad to say Nick Foles magic will run out in the “Big Easy”. Though the offense has played better with Nick Foles under center, with the line blocking longer and giving Foles more time to launch deep balls to Jeffrey, as well as the reemergence of Darren Sproles. The Eagles defensive has been plague with injuries this season. No place has been hit harder by injuries than their defensive backs, they have gone through cornerbacks faster than I go through 2 ply after a night of beer and Taco Bell. Expect their Cornerbacks and Safeties to get bullied by Drew Bress and Michael Thomas.
“WHO DAT, WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT THEM SAINTS” well I got some news it will not be the Eagles. The Saints come in off a bye and this gave the Saints much needed time to rest up and get healthy. The Saints were rolling early and throughout the season but their offense seemed to take a step back late. I fully expect the Saints to be healthy, prepared and ready to roll against the Eagles. The Saints have two great running backs in Ingram and Kamara, as well a young stud at wide out Michael Thomas, the Saints are also getting Tedd Ginn back this week which could open the Saints offense even more than it already was. The Saints defense turn around their season midway this year and we are seeing what we expected from them based off last year’s stats. Between the Saints weapons on offense and the Saints defense turning their season around expect them to cover (+8).
Hope you’ll sit back and enjoy the games both Saturday and Sunday, enjoy a couple of brews while watching. Here is to the Patriots being out this round!

UFC Champ v Champ Cejudo vs. Dillashaw. By: Tim Hix
The UFC will be coming to Brooklyn New York on January 19, 2019 for UFC Cejudo vs Dillashaw. This will be the first card to be showed on ESPN+. Which the UFC has just signed a new 5 year deal with the preliminary fights will be showen on ESPN and the Early Prelims also on ESPN+ . The Preliminary fight will be headlined by Donald " Cowboy" Cerrone taking on Alexander "The Great" Hernandez. Where they will both will try and build on their most recent wins. Cerrone with his Beautiful arm bar over Mike Perry at UFC fight night 139. And Hernandez recent win over Olivier Aubin-Mercier by unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 30 . Cerrone per sources having him at a +165 to Hernandez at a -190. The main card is stacked with great fights. Starting with women's flyweights Paige VanZant vs Rachael Ostpvich. Ostpvich at a +135 with VanZant a -160 this fight should see some great stand up fighting . Next on the card will be flyweights Joseph Benavidez vs Dustin Ortiz. Benavidez is a -250 and Ortiz at +195. Benavidez just signed a new deal with the UFC and is looking build on his most recent win. Followed by Lightweights Gregor Gillespie vs Yancy Medeiros with Gillespie being a -550 and Medeiros at +400 . Next on the card is the Co main event were former NFL star Greg Hardy makes his UFC debut where he will be taking on Allen Crowder. Hardy is a -500 with Crowder being a +375 Crowder will be looking to get back to his winning ways after his most recent loss and Hardy will be looking to make Name in the Fight game with a win over a fight who has 12 more pro fights on his Record then Hardy .With Harry's other fights counting as exhibitions only. Both of these guys love to throw power shots don't blink in this fight. This should be a great one And on to the Main Event Where UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw will come down in weight to take on UFC Flyweight Champion Henry Cejudo. Dillashaw will be looking to become only the 7 person to be a UFC 2 weight champion. But he has Olympic gold-medal list Henry Cejudo in his way from doing that. Dillashaw is the favorite - 220 and Cejudo at a +165 This fight is truly a toss up most see Dillashaw winning this on the feet but with Cejudo Inproved stand up we saw in the Jonhson fight. However with Dillashaw coming down in weight he should have to power over Cejudo and it could maybe only take one shot to get the knockout if his power stays with him in the lower weight class as long as the weight cut dosent take to much out of him. With that said you would think Cejudo should have the speed advantage but we will have to wait-and-see this is truly a fight that Fight fans should be excited for. Enjoy the fights!!
