Point-Of-Two: The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
Tumblr media
“What are you doing to me, you plague of a girl?” he whispered. “If I’m a plague, then you should keep your distance, unless you plan on being destroyed.” “No.” His hands dropped to her waist. “Destroy me.”
The Summary:
A sumptuous and epically told love story inspired by A Thousand and One Nights
Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi's wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.
She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.
Our Thoughts:
FAVORITE READ OF 2015
“Love is—a shade of what I feel.”
Miedjel: My whole family has been raving about this book! At first, when Erika said the story was about a king who kills his brides every dawn, I didn't want to read it cause it felt morbid. But I just had to see for myself what everyone is screaming their heads off about. Now, I am proud to say that I am also screaming my head off about this book!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Erika: First off, even after days of reading this my emotions are still all over the place. This is my first book hangover after the longest time. I keep rereading my favorite parts over and over again. It's crazy. This book is one of those hype books you're so scared to start because you might get disappointed. But the first time I read the synopsis of this book, I was intrigued. A story of a man who kills a new bride every night until this one girl changes it all. I'M IN.
I remember when I tell the synopsis to people very excitedly, they just find me very brutal. *ahem Miedjel* They're like why are you so happy in saying he kills his bride every night? It's called excitement! So even before the hype, this book was already on my radar but I was more excited because of the stellar reviews. They were not wrong.
"One hundred lives for the one you took. One life to one dawn. Should you fail but a single mourn, I shall take from you your dreams. I shall take from you your city. And I shall take from you these lives, a thousandfold."
*dramatic pause* Now, that's a prologue. If that didn't make you want to read it. I don't know what would.
Miedjel: This book started great! Renee just went head first to the good stuff no boring intro and crap like that. Shazi, the main girl, volunteered to be the next bride and that’s pretty weird because who would volunteer to die right?!
Tumblr media
Oh, be quiet Katniss! Anyway... as you read the book you realize the beautiful but scheming Shazi has a plan and that is to tell a story to the King. I know! That must be one hell of a story. Khalid though falls under her spell and lets her live for another day so she could finish her story but then days turn into weeks and so on. And Shazi is still alive!

Erika’s POV: 99 Days
Tumblr media
“You know what you gotta decide when you’re a writer?”
“Which stories to tie up at the ending, Molly,” she tells me. “And which ones you have to let go.”
The Summary:
Day 1: Julia Donnelly eggs my house my first night back in Star Lake, and that’s how I know everyone still remembers everything—how I destroyed my relationship with Patrick the night everything happened with his brother, Gabe. How I wrecked their whole family. Now I’m serving out my summer like a jail sentence: Just ninety-nine days till I can leave for college, and be done.
Day 4: A nasty note on my windshield makes it clear Julia isn’t finished. I’m expecting a fight when someone taps me on the shoulder, but it’s just Gabe, home from college and actually happy to see me. “For what it’s worth, Molly Barlow,” he says, “I’m really glad you’re back.”
Day 12: Gabe got me to come to this party, and I’m actually having fun. I think he’s about to kiss me—and that’s when I see Patrick. My Patrick, who’s supposed to be clear across the country. My Patrick, who’s never going to forgive me.
My Thoughts:
Okay, 99 days is seriously leaving me emotionally confused. I’m feeling everything from being extremely annoyed to loving the sexy kissing scenes.
“Is this a date?”
“I don’t know, Molly Barlow. Do you want it to be?”
One thing I can’t stand is cheating on someone. Seriously like even though you guys are *broken up* you don’t go and bang his brother. That is just so freaking messed up. You’ve been together for like ever and then one big fight doesn’t mean you are actually broken up which also means you shouldn’t end up on the other team. Molly, I repeat so messed up.
The book is written in a span of 99 days which is equivalent to one summer. We have Molly who ran away once the drama has exploded but came back just a summer before leaving for college. The people she wanted to avoid ended up invading her summer.
“Molly was our family. Molly was here when Dad died. And I don’t— not to put too fine a point on it, but it takes two people to do what we did okay? And Patrick’s my brother. I just, I’ve had it with this shit. I really have.”
We have the Donnellys: Gabe, Patrick and Julia. Your typical very good-looking family. Gabe is more of the striking one whose outgoing and carefree while Patrick is more of a snake quiet yet deadly kind of thing. He likes to be be alone with Molly all the time. Julia is of course stunning and beautiful. She’s a bitch to Molly understandable because of what she did BUT I hate the double standards. Molly is being called a dirty slut while Gabe and Patrick are not even blamed or anything. You would actually think they’re cool. It’s frustating to the highest level. I just want to punch something to release this thing I’m feeling. If Molly is being called a slut so should Gabe and Patrick.

Book Recommedations: 5 Books to Cure your Hangover
You know how after you read a book that was so freaking intense, you feel like your heart is raising 1,000 beats per minute and that if this goes on you will have a full blown heart attack from which you will NOT be able to recover?
After you read this said book, the question on your mind is "What do I do with my life now?"
You end up rereading your favorite quotes over and over again being masochistic while still crying and smiling on the exact same places just like the first time you read it.
Book hangovers are the worst and best thing ever. How do we move on from this? Books that are light and swoony are the solution.
A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall
Tumblr media
This book is super cutesy for sure it will cure your hangover! It’s a love story told from everyone’s point of view but Gabe and Leah! I don’t know about you guys but I really want to know what a bench would say when I sat on one.  I also really like the take of the squirrel in their love story. Let me give you a hint: It involves NUTS.

Point-Of-Two: How To Love by Katie Cotugno Book Review!
Tumblr media
“I think of how it felt to lose him, slow and painful and confusing, and how it felt to wonder if I'd ever really had him at all."
The Summary:
Before:
Reena Montero has loved Sawyer LeGrande for as long as she can remember: as natural as breathing, as endless as time. But he's never seemed to notice that Reena even exists until one day, impossibly, he does. Reena and Sawyer fall in messy, complicated love. But then Sawyer disappears from their humid Florida town without a word, leaving a devastated—and pregnant—Reena behind.
After: Almost three years have passed, and there's a new love in Reena's life: her daughter, Hannah. Reena's gotten used to being without Sawyer, and she's finally getting the hang of this strange, unexpected life. But just as swiftly and suddenly as he disappeared, Sawyer turns up again. Reena doesn't want anything to do with him, though she'd be lying if she said Sawyer's being back wasn't stirring something in her. After everything that's happened, can Reena really let herself love Sawyer LeGrande again?
In this breathtaking debut, Katie Cotugno weaves together the story of one couple falling in love—twice
My Thoughts:
Miedjel: When my sister told me about this book I was really interested in it because I like stories where the main character has a kid or something like that. This weird thing started when I read a book in Wattpad where the girl there had a son. The book is called Bitter Love if any of you guys want to take a look. So when she told me about it during a conversation we were having, I picked up the book and read it just like that.
"Why do I make you blush so much?"
Erika: I was pretty conflicted with letting Miedjel read this because of *whispers* steamy kissing scenes but it was kind of minor (maybe not) but I really loved it and just told her to close her eyes when those scenes come. Did you close them, Miedjel?
"Why do you think I came looking for you that night, Reena?... Why the hell would I ever have done that if I didn't care whether or not it was true?"
How To Love is about Reena who’s hopelessly in love with a guy she’s known her whole life--- Sawyer but she hides it. I don’t know why she’s so embarrased. Maybe because she thought it would be forever one sided? So because she’s so scared, Sawyer ends up dating her bestfriend, Allie (a traitor) well, not a super traitor since she kinda likes him too BUT Reena liked him super much first which isn’t fair!

Revised review! :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“What do you want from me, Kai?”
“For starters?” His voice lowered to sexy, dangerous depths. “I want to introduce myself to every freckle on your body.”
My Summary:
Anna Whitt has always been the ultimate good girl but since turning 16 and meeting Kaidan Rowe her life is about to change.
She can see and feel other people’s emotion and has a strong pull towards danger. She doesn’t understand why but she will now.
The son and daughters of fallen angels are born to be bad influences.
Could Anna be the only exception?
Our Thoughts:
Miedjel: When I first found this book in Goodreads, after I read the synopsis, I instantly knew that I would want to read this book. I mean come on who wouldn’t want to read about a bad boy and a good girl together. When I started to read this book, I couldn’t let it go! It was just that good! I love how Wendy Higgins wrote this book. There was no boring moments!!!
Erika: Miedjel and my cousin adore this series but with me not really into paranormal, I didn’t put it in my top to be read list. But that didn’t stop them from raving which made me excited, expectant and kind of nervous too because being so attached to characters is such a great feeling but having to move on hurts. I sound so dramatic but it’s totally true. Thanks to their fangirling, I finally decided to read it. My only regret is not reading this sooner. Oh boy, every single thing they said were true.
“I know I’m just a human woman, but so help me, if anything happens to her while she’s with you—”
“I assure you she’ll be in good hands.”
“Mm-hm, that’s part of what I’m worried about.” She pointed at his hands. “Hands off, mister.”
Miedjel: Of course it was true! Honestly, Erika, I couldn’t believe you when you didn’t instantly read it after I described Kaiden to you and how the book just blew my mind away… literally! Believe it or not I’m still finding some of the pieces…
Erika: *picks up brain gunk* *hands it over to Miedjel* I believe you, Miedjel. I believe. Anna is both shy yet feisty. The good and bad girl. She is the type of good girl who tells the teacher when she forgets to collect homework which is something I would never do. If I was her classmate, I might have (more like surely) given her the bitch look. But because she’s pretty, she still gets invited to parties where she doesn’t like attending because she has this extremely strong pull towards “evil” things.
Miedjel: Wait, Erika are you describing me? *sigh* Erika! you’re suppose to be describing Anna :p Anyway, I absolutely love Anna, I love that she’s brave and not at the same time how. Is that even possible?! I love that she’s not a nerd. Just a super good girl. Oh, Erika, I wouldn’t give her the bitch look I’d just throw something at her. I also like it that she isn’t the drop dead gorgeous pretty.
Erika: Okay, Miedjel, Anna is like you. *sarcastic voice* Stop throwing things at people. Please!!! She has a best friend named Jay. A total cutie. I don’t usually believe in platonic girl and boy best friends but Anna and Jay are an exception. Jay is so protective of her and sweet, I actually wanted there to be something with them but there isn’t so I’m very jealous of their relationship. Jay is such a great guy BUT then I meet Kaidan.
“He was smoking hot. As in H-O-T-T, hott. I’d never understood until that moment why girls insisted on adding an extra t. This guy was extra-t-worthy.

Extraordinary Means Book Review!
Tumblr media
"Because if the past year had made me certain of one thing, it was that love stories at Latham all ended the same way: with someone left behind."
The Summary:
From the author of The Beginning of Everything: two teens with a deadly disease fall in love on the brink of a cure.
At seventeen, overachieving Lane finds himself at Latham House, a sanatorium for teens suffering from an incurable strain of tuberculosis. Part hospital and part boarding school, Latham is a place of endless rules and confusing rituals, where it's easier to fail breakfast than it is to flunk French.
There, Lane encounters a girl he knew years ago. Instead of the shy loner he remembers, Sadie has transformed. At Latham, she is sarcastic, fearless, and utterly compelling. Her friends, a group of eccentric troublemakers, fascinate Lane, who has never stepped out of bounds his whole life. And as he gradually becomes one of them, Sadie shows him their secrets: how to steal internet, how to sneak into town, and how to disable the med sensors they must wear at all times.
But there are consequences to having secrets, particularly at Latham House. And as Lane and Sadie begin to fall in love and their group begins to fall sicker, their insular world threatens to come crashing down.
Told in alternating points of view, Extraordinary Means is a darkly funny story about doomed friendships, first love, and the rare miracle of second chances
My Thoughts:
Before I started this book, there have been warnings.
1. Prepare yourself
2. Tearjerker
3. TFIOS but waaaaaay better
But no matter how many times you’ve been warned, you still get unexpectedly hit by a wave of emotions you know would happen but it doesn’t hurt any less.
Extraordinary Means is about Lane and Sadie, two teens with incurable TB. The not so funny thing about this is while I was reading, I had a bad case of cough too. So when Lane or Sadie or anyone went *cough* *cough*, I would go *cough* *cough* SCARY.

GAME OF THRONES BOOK TAG
For this Book Tag, we collaborated with Jessica who is a huge Game of Thrones fan too! (Miedjel is not old enough to watch this sooo…)
Here we go!
Tumblr media
[Okay, we’re going a bit (maybe a lot) crazy so just pick a character who is very powerful]
Jessica: Celaena Sardothien (Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas)
I chose Celaena because I feel like she is the only one worthy enough to be compared to the amazing Daenerys Targeryen. Here are my reasons why: She is DROP DEAD FREAKING GORGEOUS (literally!!!!), The biggest badass in all the kingdoms (She could take anyone down without even blinking), Clever/witty/cunning, independent (She needs no one! Especially not a man!), and of course she is a Queen herself — no one can resist her charm, beauty, and the fire in her blood that just makes you want to bow down. Sound familiar? *wink wink* Honestly, I could go on and on about how awesome Celaena is but then I wouldn’t have room to write about the other characters so this will have to do…..for now
Erika: For Khaleesi, I chose Juliette (Iginte Me by Tahereh Mafi)
Ultimately, let’s look at the character development— from a weakling, a no one can touch me because they will die girl to a okay, I DARE you to touch me girl who rules the world. She is also very beautiful and powerful.
When Jessy said, “She needs no one.” I instantly remembered Arya, “I am no one.” (you really know GoT is ruining my life)
Side not: I love Khaleesi so very much that when I see her anywhere I will bow down to her, I will be on my knees. *serious face*

REVISED REVIEW!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything’s possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time.“
My Summary:
What once was the United States is now the Republic and the Colonies which are at war.
Fifteen-year-old June from the wealthiest district is the Republic’s Prodigy and fifteen-year-old Day from the slum sectors is the country’s most wanted criminal.
Two people who would never have thought that they would cross paths until Metias, June’s brothers death. With Day being accused of his murder, June is on the hunt for him.
With the truth uncovered, June finally knows where her loyalties should lie.
Our Thoughts:
Erika: Miedjel and my cousins’ have been telling me nonstop how great this book is and that I should read it. Since Marie Lu is having a book signing here, I thought now is the perfect time to read it. Now that I finally did what I can say is…. Why didn’t I read this sooner?!
"My mother thinks I’m dead.”
From page one more like from the first sentence, it’s already soooo exciting. We first meet June and she is badass and I love her. She’s just 15 but she’s so freaking smart (like the only one who got a perfect score on her Trial, which is a required test they take once they turn 13 smart) She’s pretty. She is what you want to be at 15 which I wasn’t. I’m 21 and I’m nothing like her. It’s getting embarrassing…
Miedjel: Erika, I’m sure your glad you listened to us. Am I right?! I absolutely love Legend! Because I’m all for feminism and when I found out that the female protagonist was badass, I instantly knew I had to read it. You know you have a good book when you’re just at the beginning and you never want to let it go. That’s a how I felt when I read this book.
At the beginning something happens but I don’t want to spoil so let’s just leave it at that but when that event happened I was like wow is it the climax already and I think I was just in Chapter one or two anyway you get my drift. I was legitly crying and I felt so stupid because I just started the book.  But MY GOD I just really loved it. The book didn’t have a single sour note for me it was just all crescendo throughout the whole thing (Actually the series but let’s just focus on the first book first)  I seriously can’t stop raving!
Let’s talk about Day now,  Day is as equally bad ass as June which is AWESOME . I liked how in the book nobody knew Day cause that just made him more mysterious. I love how Day is family-oriented. Guys, I’m not sure if I should still say this, if it’s not obvious enough but I will just for the sake of saying it… DAY IS HANDSOME. There I said it.
“You’re brilliant,” he says. “But you’re a fool to stay with someone like me.” I close my eyes at the touch of his hand.“Then we are both fools.”
Erika: Now that it’s out there Miedjel, I’m sure we’ll have so many competition. Sooooo dibs! Day is a wanted criminal. He is freaking awesome that I can’t even comprehend how two such amazing people are in one book. He’s also just 15 and he’s done so many things that people who are already so old or even the same age haven’t done/would never do anything like it. He is that cool. The most shocking thing about it all was that he failed his Trial. He FAILED. How can the most wanted criminal fail that test? His done so many devious things and he never got caught. My initial thought: Impossible. He’s a freaking genius. It’s all a lie!!!!!
I cannot tell you enough how perfect June and Day are. It’s like they are exactly the same person but with different genders. They are a match made in heaven seriously. It makes me so sad that they were pinned against each other. June thinking Day is the enemy when in fact he’s not! He can’t be.
Miedjel: How Marie Lu wrote the characters was very well thought of usually if you put two very strong characters together there would be a battle of wills which is great cause it’s funny when the guys react when the girls are all “I am alpha female” but then this book, how she wrote them its like they are a puzzle perfectly placed together which I think is very heart warming.
This book is amazing cause come on guys both the male and female lead have super strong charisma, super smart, and every good thing you can think of! I’m so jealous of them their like the perfect couple! OH. MY. GOSH. I just thought of it now if they were real and were a little older they would kinda be like Brangelina! They both are super kick ass!
“She’s pretty in a way that distracts me just like she did in the Skiz ring. No, pretty’s not the right word. Beautiful.”
Erika: The first time they meet it was super duper intense and I could feel the tension between them. Ugh. I love them together. The way June calculates everything is so freaking cool. So many shocking things will be revealed with nonstop action. Definitely a book you would want to read!
What I love the most is that Marie wrote from both June and Day’s perspective. You will be able to understand both of them which is the best way to go. Aside from the fact that their POV’s are color-coded, her writing is so distinct there is no way you’ll mix up June and Day. Marie is amazing at what she does. I’m a fan.
Rarely do you read a book with 2 super strong leads—- no damsel in distresses. This is that book!!!!! Both super hardcore and awesome. The best thing ever. Now off to Prodigy. I can’t wait another second.
Miedjel: The plot of the story—  I can’t honestly say anything bad about this whole book.  It’s like a readers dream. Great amount of action, just enough romance, and a well thought of plot! *sigh* I just can’t. Just making sure if you didn’t get all that raving above that I really, really want you to read this book.
Tumblr media
Happy reading!!!
