//Ahh! I was actually excited to finally see Baizhu make his presence on my dash. Ever since I did his story quest I've always loved the rivalry dynamic between Hu Tao and him. I think them getting into some heated philosophical discussions about life and death would happen a lot more than you think. Even if it is probably one sided from Tao. Would love to see them be put in a situation where they are having to work together for a common goal. I'd imagine Baizhu probably knows more about the Hu family than the canon leads on, too.

Hu Tao took a step back. A faint whisper under her breath. Almost like an incantation was uttered. Manifesting into the thin air nearby was that lovable spectre. From her person she handed over a silk flower. It's petals a soft pink all coming together near a crimson bud in the center.
The ghostly familiar would telepathically hover the floral piece so that it landed gently into Amber's open palms.
"Tada!~"

"Ah. But of course. It would certainly be unprofessional to showcase that behavior toward your coworkers and colleagues. It would be like if I tried to be affectionate with the other undertakers back at the parlor" she remarked lowered down the cup of chai back onto the table. It was then a dumb smirk played across her face.
"But that also means -you- consider me as a friend," the director bemused turning her attention to the scribe and then to book of the books they had been reading.
"See! You are getting it ~" she exclaimed as she adjusted her position to sit more comfortably on the sofa resting partially on the arm rest with her legs tuck upon the cushions off to the side. Once more she had flipped through the pages of the book she was reading.
"Liyue as you know by now is a land of commerce. Each item and service sold within its markets are constructed with care. Well almost. Of course there lies the risk of a scam. Still though the act of exchanging gifts, especially ones you made yourself with a special person in mind...that in itself is considered a love language many Liyuians take to heart"
"It depends who it is. I'm not affectionate with people from Akademiya, and rather not be. But with friends I am or can be," Alhaitham leaned back. on the couch.
"It's not just the giving of gift, or how expensive it is. It's the thought and care put into it? Right?" Gift giving was a whole custom in Liyue that he was still trying to understand. Sure they gave gifts in Sumeru, but it wasn't so customary in his experiences. Gifts were given out of affection.

okay so i got like, three books delivered this week, and in anticipation i reread another book that i had, and lads, let me tell ye, it was like quicksand. so now i have a list, some from my head, many from my wonderful friends’ heads, of prompts that basically made us all very soft or very “pleasantly scandalized rich lady from the sixties who just found out a juicy bit of goss about the new neighbor”. i hope ye like them! (DO NOT ADD TO THE LIST. I WILL MAKE A PART TWO. AND THREE. AND FOUR. MANY MANY PARTS. EVENTUALLY. )
[ HAIR ]: sender slowly reaches out to catch a loose strand of the receiver’s hair and tuck it gently and securely back behind their ear, letting their touch linger afterwards. (if the receiver has short hair, then the sender reaches out and gently runs their fingers through their hair to smooth it back.)
[ CLOSE ]: while standing remarkably close to one another, the sender is unable to stop themselves from running their gaze across the receiver’s body, lingering for a moment on their lips, before returning to initiate prolonged, intense eye contact.
[ CHIN ]: as they stand close to one another, the sender hooks a finger and tenderly lifts the receiver’s chin, tilting it up so that they can look at one another, and running a thumb across their skin lightly.
[ THUMB ]: while cupping the receiver’s cheek in their hand, the sender slowly glides their thumb across their cheekbone in a tender, sweeping caress.
[ WOUND ]: upon noticing a recent injury on the receiver’s person, the sender carefully moves closer, running a thumb (or hand) across the wound in a gentle, troubled manner.
[ INHALE ]: while standing in very close quarters to the receiver, the sender shakily inhales with desire/anticipation as they realize how intimately close they are to one another.
[ DANCE ]: when alone together (e.g. the bedroom, the kitchen, literally anywhere once they’re alone) the sender takes the receiver’s hand, and pulls them into a graceful yet intimate dance as a spontaneous act.
[ BARE ]: as they get undressed, the sender gently places a soft, tender kiss against the receiver’s bare shoulder.
[ SCAR ]: noticing a scar on the receiver’s skin, the sender tentatively stops them from covering it up, and rests a gentle, soft kiss over it.
[ FOREHEAD ]: placing a hand on the back of the receiver’s neck, the sender guides them close and rests their foreheads together.
[ PALM ]: taking the receiver’s hand, the sender brings it to their mouth, and places a tender kiss against the receiver’s palm.
[ LINGER ]: taking the receiver’s hand, the sender lifts it to their lips, and gently kisses their knuckles, lingering for a moment before withdrawing.
[ BEHIND ]: upon entering the same room as the receiver, the sender steps behind them, and winds their arms around the receiver’s waist, drawing them close against them.
[ WAIT ]: realizing the receiver is about to leave the room, the sender hastily reaches out and catches their wrist, preventing them from continuing their departure.
[ ARM ]: after holding their hand, the sender releases the receiver, but slowly glides their hand up the full length of their arm, lingering on the upper arm, then the shoulder, then resting their touch against the side of their neck.
[ HOLD ]: while close to the receiver, the sender wordlessly takes a hold of their hand, for no other purpose than to be holding it.
[ PLAY ]: while sitting together, the sender absently lifts the receiver’s hand, idly running their fingertips across the lines of their palms, mapping out every inch of their hand with slow, lazy touches.
[ GUIDE ]: in the process of guiding the receiver through a crowded place, the sender’s hand protectively grazes against the small of their back
[ TOUCH ]: while touching the receiver’s waist, the sender’s hand briefly dips beneath the hem of their shirt, skimming briefly across the bare skin of their waist.
[ CUP ]: bringing both hands up to cup the receiver’s face, the sender draws them in closer to them in order to get a better look at their face.
[ TUG ]: the sender tugs the receiver close against them by resting a hand against the small of their back, pulling them flush against their body.
[ HUSH ]: while standing close to one another and hiding from pursuers, the sender reaches up and places a finger against the receiver’s lips to prevent them from speaking and revealing their location.
[ WRAP ]: when sitting astride a horse/motorcycle/etc. together, the sender reaches back, takes the receiver’s wrists, and gently pulls their arms around the sender’s waist in an embrace designed to keep the receiver safe, despite feeling remarkably intimate.

Was it a risk to indulge on a beverage that was compliments from the House of the Hearth? Hu Tao was no stranger that some of it's members liked to 'play' with a variety of concoctions. It was a gamble between what could be medicine and what could be poison at times.
However, the funeral director accepted a long while ago that her patronage toward the house was risky in itself. If anything it was always best to show utmost trust. Especially around the 'father'. For now her usual quirkiness was put aside. A habit she brought upon herself when she would discuss contracts relating to burial rites.
"I do feel a little terrible that I haven't brought any tea from Liyue as an exchange gift. I know the blend that comes from Chenyu Vale is quite exceptional. I'm no professional when it comes to it. That role is something more fitting for my consultant. If you haven't met yet, I could arrange a meeting if you would like."
Instead she had hoped the coupons provided were of some compensation. She was relieved that The Knave had accepted them. How soon they would be utilized would remain a mystery of course.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Childe... Ever a headache, though she won't refute that he has a knack for spectacle that allows others to put their own plans in motion. Even just recently, his actions in Fontaine served no small role in the acquisition of exactly what it was that they sought.
"Consider it a gift, Director. It's a unique blend cultivated by the House of the Hearth within Snezhnaya."
⠀⠀⠀⠀Her hands clasp together, fingers knitting with each other as her gaze inspects the Director's posture and position carefully. It was rare that people kept such refined composure in her presence, even if they were typical well-composed. Hu Tao... How interesting.
"I am sure that going forward, I will be able to give you another gift of tea if you so desire. As collaboration between the House of Hearth and Wangsheng Funeral Parlor seems to be inevitable and fruitful for both parties, giving such a gift would seem only appropriate, wouldn't you agree?"

"I know Liyue does have similar traditions, but I didn't take you as the type to dish out such affections yourself" the funeral director mused as she spoke in between bites of the treats she decided to sample.
Her attention was brought to the philosophy book Alhaitham was reading "In Liyue those often came in the form of gift giving. I suppose those could be seen as materialistic to some. But not necessarily. At least I don't think so. Certain object hold special and personal value. It shows that you were positively thinking of the person."
There was another sip of the spiced chai.
"And yes those include coupons from the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor"
Alhaitham took a sip of his drink, before picking up one of the snacks for himself. He hadn't made them, but purchased them, he hadn't had the time to prepare them himself. It was still delicious. "You probably won't find it specifically in traditions, but it does reference that Sumerians are affectionate with people they are familiar with. It's just a difference in behaviour,"
The scholar set his cup down and reached out for one of the books on the table. He picked up a book on Liyiuan Philosophy that he had been working on. It was about the philosophy of contracts and Morax. It was interesting and different.
"Liyue has those kind of traditions too,"

Hu Tao perked up from the sofa she had been lazily resting on. In her hands was a book on Sumerian traditions. Oh, she recognized the smell of a few of those spices. However, adding them in the form of a tea was something new. It certainly smelled delicious as Alhaitham insisted.
"Chai, huh? It definitely has a more dynamic appeal than the tea served in Liyue. I'd imagine there are plenty of sweets to be paired with its spiciness"
Just as the funeral director leaned forward to trade in the book for the cup of chai she had received the platonic kiss a top her nose.
"Aiya....??" her own face scrunched up slightly in response to the friendly gesture. It was odd being on the receiving end of such. "I don't think I read about that tradition yet," she chuckled a bit before taking a sip from the chai. Her gaze turning toward the snacks being set on the table. It would be the candied alijenakh nuts she would reach for first.

He set down the drink in front of Hu Tao. Chai was different from Liyiuan tea. It was sweet, milky, spicy. It tasted like cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. He'd enjoyed the tea in Liyue, and wanted to share his favourite Sumeru drink.
"This is Chai. It's delicious,"
He kissed her platonically on the nose, before sitting down on the sofa with his own cup as well. He had also but down a tray of snacks that had Tulumba, Candied Ajilenakh Nuts, and Baklava.
