listen. in the falsettos revival by having whizzer cheat and be petty and annoying during the chess game you lose the concept of whizzer proving marvin he isnt an idiot who marvin can reduce and feel superior over. you lose marvin feeling ashamed at his core when someone is smarter and better than him in something he is so surely trying to have control over. by having marvin bring in a suitcase and break up with whizzer you lose that he throws a temper tantrum and only continues to prove marvin cant be reasoned with regarding the flaws that really hurt him deep. if marvin breaks up with whizzer you lose the purpose of whizzer being the one to look on their relationship in a correct assessment of what is happening and saying the first "this had better come to a stop". the chess game in the revival misunderstands the themes entirely and its at its core based on whizzers characterization but saying that will get me killed wont it
