I Unbox Things and Ramble About Them #3 Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet
I've always been a bit of a casual Touhou fan but recently I've been on a Touhou kick, wanting to dig deeper into the series so I decided to dig up Bullet Ballet! I preordered this when it first came out and dabbled in it for a weekend at the time just to put it away until today.
The art is all very fun and cute! It comes with an artbook with character profiles and art from the game, post cards and a soundtrack. I opened the postcards from their shrink wrap and unfortunately they were sticking together pretty good which caused a tiny bit of damage to the paint but it's not too bad.
This game is always in the back of my mind because the limited edition comes with a code for avatars and a custom PS4 theme which I have utilized and not changed since the day this game showed up at my door. I even fired up the game after all these years and its menu music is the same as the custom music the theme uses. I was like, "wait, that's not just the PS4s home screen theme?!"

I Unbox Things and Ramble About Them #2 Cardcaptor Sakura: Tomoyo no Video Daisakusen
You know, I actually know very little about this game. I picked it up on a whim from someone looking to unload it online in like... 2012? It was a good price and I'm a bit of a Cardcaptor Sakura fan, so I said screw it. From what I have seen though it appears to be a bit of an odd one, seeming to have you play as Tomoyo as you take pictures of Sakura during her adventures? I'd give it a whirl but unfortunately the Dreamcast is region locked and I own a US version... funny tid bit about that though, burned games are not region locked so you can just straight up burn a backup of the same game and it will then work. Both hilarious and absurd. There are some wild collector's editions out there and this is certainly one of the cooler ones. Comes with a plate, stand for it if you want to display it, spoon and fork and an analog clock. (it still works!) I've seen some sources online claim the last item is a tapestry while others claim it's a pillowcase and frankly, I just have no clue. It doesn't seem to be the quality or size for a proper pillowcase, but it does have a hole in it and no poles to hang it as a tapestry.

I Unbox Things and Ramble About Them #1: Otomedius Excellent
What a bizarre move it was for Konami to release this title exclusively for the Xbox 360, a game infamous for its extreme lack of Japanese support and anime titles. What's even stranger is us getting it in the west. Otomedius is a pun on "Otome", meaning maiden in Japanese and Gradius, a popular space shooting game... which pretty much sums up the entirety of this game; cute girls go pew pew.
I picked up the collector's edition when it was being purged from Gamestop for next to nothing who knows how many years ago. It comes with an artbook, soundtrack and pillow sheet. Although the binding makes it near impossible to open the artbook any reasonable amount, the illustrations are quite striking. The pillow sheet is perhaps the most amusing addition, with one side featuring the game's main protagonist Aoba and the other featuring a collection of the cast.
I do vividly remember playing as the girl shown on the top-left of the pillow sheet. Ahoge + eyepatch + big bow = best girl on principle. For as cute as the game is though, that's the strongest thing going for it as I remember it being nothing but an extremely mediocre title, much preferring the likes of Deathsmiles and Trouble Witches Neo at the time.

Unboxing Snow Miku: Grand Voyage Nendoroid!
Tumblr media
It took over a week to get around to it, but I'm opening up my Snow Miku I got from AnimeExpo! A bit of an impulse buy but I did eventually want a Miku nendoroid and this one definitely grabbed me. In general, I tend to like the Snow Miku variants and this one is no exception. It'll be nice to have her big dumb cute anime face around while I finish packing the last of the anniversary merch orders.
Tumblr media
I really love the bonus faces she has, it really was seeing an advertisement with her sparkly eyes that ruined me. A lot of the bonuses are really fun, shades on the top left, a hand holding binoculars on the top right and... is that rabbit Jackie's cousin or something? Σ(゚口゚;)//
Tumblr media
SHE'S SO CUTE AAAA. I customized her a little, swapping her hands and face but I didn't notice until I unpacked everything that the rabbit has its own stand! I thought she would hold them, but it seems that's not the case and I'm pleasantly surprised. Just got to add the hat and...
Tumblr media
It's perfect. ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-
Now just to see if she looks as dorky as I'd expect with the shades.
Tumblr media
Yes, yes she does. I'd grab her piece with her arms tucked together in the jacket (bottom right in the earlier pic) to see how much smug energy it adds with the shades, but I am both lazy and sold on seeing her shiny eyes. I'm super happy with her and I think she's definitely the most elaborate Nendoroid I have yet!
May she watch over me during my busy tomorrow.

AnimeExpo Recap Day 3-4!
AnimeExpo is over and it’s good to be back home! Although day 3 and 4 definitely much slower compared to the running around I did the first two days. I went to bed day 2 wondering what else I could possibly do. I feel like I saw what I wanted to and bought what I wanted to, and really made the most of my time. Somehow, I found a way anyways.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I realized I didn't do Yokura's Honkai Star Rail trash rally! 12 artists had a free sticker to give out on a card (on the bottom right) and once you got 6 you can come back for a free clear fil- erm, 5* light cone! It was really fun to run around artist alley with some purpose and seeing all the other artists with Honkai merch! I got a sticker of her OC Mofuko and slapped it on my water bottle and ended up picking up some prints from Belindraws during the rally! The Black Rock Shooter really sucked me in. (╯✧ ∇ ✧)╯
Funny story about the water bottle, I actually applied the sticker at Yokura's table but lost the bottle sometime at the beginning of Day 3. Near the end of Day 4 I coasted back at her table and there it still was, in a corner very out of the way and hidden but just sitting on her table... oops. She didn't notice either but I still feel like a menace. I'm honestly very surprised it didn't get swiped!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
McDonalds had a booth there and I was very confused! So confused in fact that I just got in line for the hell of it to find out! It seemed the primary purpose was for cosplay photoshoots, having a mock drive through window, birthday table and ordering counter all to pose behind with staff helping with photos. You're given a poster and a pin for your time upon exiting. Seeing a Zero Two and Luffy posing behind a birthday table filled with McDonalds jargon was an experience. It also wasn't until the very end of the last day that I notiecd a giant Grimace behind the entire stand... oh no. \(º □ º l|l)/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 3 was also the only day I went out and ate real food! Most of my meals were Doordash sandwiches, Chipotle and the like but a handful of friends got together for some JBBQ! There's a nice little place not too far from AnimeExpo called Gyu-Kaku that has gluten free sauces and seem pretty good with not killing me (I have celiac) so it's sort of becoming a tradition to eat here at least once when in the Downtown LA area.
Tumblr media
Let me tell you something about myself; I love figurines. It's a trap I constantly struggle with NOT falling into. There are so many cool anime figures but it's such a financial trap when I'm already losing to my game collecting and skeb addiction. Yet somehow, I'm slowly slipping farther into getting nendoroids and model kits. Model kits are so hands on so it's like an activity and nendoroids are so flippin' cute and both of them are WAY cheaper than most figures. SO WHEN I SEE AN ADVERTISING SCREEN WITH THIS MIKU FACE ON IT,
Tumblr media
I caved. I even did a good job staying away from the Good Smile booth knowing I'd get suckered in day 1 and 2 but this was mostly helped by the fact that it had a large line. Day 3 there was no line to be found. BUT LOOK AT HOW CUTE SHE IS. The prices were also completely fair too. I rarely buy these sorts of things from cons because the prices get jacked up and they're cheaper online, but this was a non-issue buying it directly from Good Smiles booth. I love them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And those are the main things that come to mind that I can accompany with pictures! There are other stories I'm excited to share on stream today that don't have photos. Needless to say, it was really fun and I'm looking forward to a AX 2024! But for now, I'm just happy to be home. It's been a very busy last month and AnimeExpo marked the end of being so busy. So really, I just can't wait to focus on streaming and personal projects.
I did actually spend a 5th day in LA and went into Little Tokyo! While it was brief, I did spend way too much on Japanese chips and snacks! I have this cute idea where I set up a handcam on the side and open every stream with a new snack sampling and review. I'll see about showing off all the different snacks I got next post! (ง'̀-'́)ง

AnimeExpo Recap Day 1-2!
I like the idea of using Tumblr for more blogging style Pahi rants so... that's what I'm gonna do! Welcome to Pahi's adventures at AnimeExpo! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*✲゚*。 Boy is LineCon not a joke. Get in a line to get in to get in a line to get into the area you want to go to get into a line to see a paticular artist... it's absolutely wild out here LOL. I really didn't stop walking (or standing) for 11 hours the first day and day 2 wasn't much better. But I GOT A LOT OF COOL THINGS FOR MY TROUBLES!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hitsukuya was my Day 1 first stop because she had limited post cards and I love her OC Hi-chan so I really didn't want to miss it! They were numbered and I was customer #10! Hitsu goes to a ton of cons so I already had most of her stuff but the Honkai stuff was quite new! Next picture is Xeph whom I have a lot of prints from last AX but the Honkai ones are new so I picked up that as well! Then there's Minsgraph who had a holo Silverwolf which looked SO GOOD. I wouldn't be surprised if I accidently double-bought the Gura and already have it... aaaaa I have too many prints. I could stand to more properly organize what I have but at a certain point they're all either on my wall or in a portfolio and you start forgetting who drew what and just kill me. Maybe I should start asking for business cards to slide in with each poster I keep safe. Last pictured is Gyool! They had THE ONLY TOKI I COULD FIND IN THE WHOLE VENUE. I love Toki. Someone please draw more Toki. Also always nice to still see someone drawing Sagiri!
Tumblr media
Dealers Hall was next and Inti Creates just reprinted a Lola tapestry I've been looking for forever...??? No seriously, I've been camping Yahoo Auctions, Mandarake and Surugaya for probably a year now for this exact tapestry and it either just doesn't exist or costs 8000 yen plus. And there it was for 25$? Excuse me? Was tempting to buy 2. Probably the happiest surprise of the con for me. As much as I didn't care for the first Gunvolt game the designs are so heckin' cute and Pahicore. I'll probably give the Luminous Avenger games a try at some point...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have no clue what Fatal Twelve is, I literally pointed at it and said "sell me on this" to the people at Sekai Project and they did a good enough job. I may never make the time to play a lot of visual novels I own but I just love to own them physically and have a soft spot for collecting them up. I'm sure it's just boomer brain where even only 10 years ago visual novels were extremely niche in the west and what was available licensed was incredibly sparse. I'm very happy I can finally buy stuff like Beat Angel Escalayer, something that feels a bit surreal to be a new release given my first encounter with the series was on some backwoods anime hentai site probably 15+ years ago.
Tumblr media
Probably my happiest accomplishment was getting alternate color variants of Reimu and Marisa fumos from the AmiAmi booth! It was first come, first serve with a small allotment for them each day so I made the decision to make getting them my mission day 2. At first I just wanted Reimu as she's my favorite 2hu but... she needs a friend right? So I caved lol. Thanks @myrral for joining me to double our chances getting through the crowd for them! I actually had a scare where I thought Marisa was stolen or fell out of a bag but luckily I set it down at a artist friends booth and they kept it safe for me. Glad to have them reunited!
Tumblr media
While the entirety of day 1 involved going through all the shops, day 2 I spent a little bit of time in panels! ...getting to them was absolutely awful! I wanted to get to the Lazulight panel but it was absolutely packed and there was no way I was making it with how little time I got there before it started. There was literally a line to get up an escalator so you can get in line for a security checkpoint so you can get in the actual line for the panel, which was capped. I stuck around to get to the next event, a Q&A panel with CDawg and Ironmouse... though that had it's own mishaps. I somehow got ushered into another panel room which was some sort of Studio Bones press announcement panel? I almost gave up and stayed there but I wondered my way out and by some fluke I found where I was supposed to enter the same time security said they can let a few more people inside. They didn't allow anyone to line up once they thought it was full so I got to sneak right in, super lucky!
Day 1 and 2 were so hectic that it ended feeling like I really did everything I wanted to do. I went hard on trying to line up for the things I cared most about and min-max'd my browsing time amongst the artists and exhibitors booths. I'm ready for a much more chill day 3 and 4... so chill that this is my first time I've decided to take a breather and sit in my hotel room the whole con! I'll have a follow up blog for the last days and lots of photos of the general sights and not just what I bought lol. But until then it's time for me to weather the crowds once again though, wish me luck! ( ̄^ ̄ )ゞ
