As a follow-up of sorts, he would also be awful at hiding his plans to propose to his partner. They'd almost certainly find the ring or some kind of evidence that it exists.

Jin would continue to call his partner by their last name/family name/title until they tell him to cut it out tbh.

"Major?

The man questions, raising his brow. Eira's response was unexpected to say the least. Surely, his own family drama was of little importance to her. So why did she look so upset with his response? Where were her usual biting comments and combative attitude? Regardless, he knew the Kisaragi family far better than she did. A simple explanation of just how terrible this family could truly be should have been more than enough to put this conversation to rest, no?

"I don't see a point in wasting my time on something like that. You have to understand that my siblings are-"

Jin trails off, averting his gaze. Damn it! Why did she have to look at him like that? It was much easier whenever she was angry or annoyed with him, but the Hero of Ikaruga was woefully unprepared for her pity. Of all the times to feel guilty, why now..?

He sighs, shaking his head and slumping his shoulders in defeat. This certainly wasn't where he was expecting this conversation to lead. Jin could only hope that the Silver Phoenix knew what she was talking about...

"...Fine. I suppose that I could try to at least contact some of them. Just...stop looking at me like that. It's unnerving..."

He pulls out his phone tapping through it with a hum, before turning his attention back on the woman. He'd better not regret this...

"I can start with one of my sisters. She tries to call me every now and then, but...I've left her largely ignored, I admit..."

Jin is ready to pass on the topic, but he’ll find that difficult to do when Eira’s expression looks like that. Slack jawed would be taking it a tad dramatic, but the parted lips and wide eyes do speak of a familiar picture in that sore vein. She’s never sure what to expect, though usually it’s an attempt to have things entirely unaddressed. A victory turns into something far more… unfortunate. It explains why the topic is a difficult one for the man. Eira watches for another moment.

“We’ll get to that. This is… Jin, you realize I can’t just ignore this, right? Years. I don’t see my brothers and family too often but, Gods, I see them at least at the major holidays during the year if I can. I send them messages. They’ll send some in return. Years…” A finger pinches at her brow, though expression remains a large contrast to the usual frustration. Apologetic isn’t a familiar look for her. “And you haven’t tried anything since then?”

It's not likely. And really, with Major Kisaragi, hardly a surprise. He’s a passive sort who sequesters himself to solitude outside of work hours.

“That... sounds lonely. I can't even imagine.” This is where the movie moment would be to invite him along to her own family’s festivities. But that was in no way happening. Instead, she bolsters the moment with a request- the least she could do was try to guide him in the proper direction. “We should change that this year. For the season. You should send out a simple card to them, the ones that… haven’t actively tried to kill you at least. Don’t even write a long note, just send something their way.” Eira nods.

“Anything to show them that you’re thinking about them. You should know even gestures as minor as that can have a profound effect. This isn’t a way to just keep going about- even if it isn’t blood they are family. You never know if you might need them someday…”
