I've been thinking about this for a while, but something I've really come to appreciate about the World of Darkness as a setting is something that might be a little counterintuitive?
WoD is a dark and gloomy place. It's our world, but darker, more sinister and in a lot of ways, outright worse, in some more convenient. But despite this, despite the doom and gloom hanging over the world, whether it's vampires believing that Gehenna is nigh and the Antideluvians will soon wake from their slumber and devour the world whole, or werewolves locked in a war against devastation of the world (and the entire universe really), or mages... life just goes on.
Sure, for most people, life goes on, because they're blissfully unaware of what is happening backstage. Even if they did, what could a mortal do, faced with vampires as old as the calendar they use, or an agent of balance driven mad and bent on destroying everything? (Admittedly, Hunter shows that yes, mortals can make a difference). But more importantly, despite it all, there's hope.
There's these little specks of light in the dark, those people, whether Kindred, Garou, Changeling, Mage or mortal that try to build their own little slice of paradise amidst the storm. And that's why I love it so much.
The world may be a dark place, full of horror and uncertainty, but even amidst those, light and hope will find a way. However brief or enduring that proves to be.
Y’know what? Fuck you. *Plays an acoustic guitar version of your leitmotif to show you still have tenderness and care in your heart, and compassion for others*
Tonight’s DnD session went off the rails. The party was called in to deal with a black dragon masquerading as an orc. She’s warmongering and causing havoc, but we cannot out her as a dragon for political reasons. So we need to neutralize her. Our goal is to humiliate her and lose her following.
We challenge her to single combat. We waffle on whether the party half-elf fighter/cleric should face her or our bunnyfolk barbarian, but we know she’s an adult dragon so it’s dicey to face her one on one.
Then I say, “What if… I use Greater Invisibilty on the barbarian?”
This causes much hilarity. The dragon would have blindsight and know that he was there but would look insane shouting about invisible rabbits. We decide he should sit atop the half-elf’s shoulders.
“But what if she knocks him off?”
We consider this. Then the DM goes, “You guys have that saddle…”
And we do. We have a magic saddle that you cannot be unseated from. But then we’d need the half elf to wear the saddle on her shoulders which would give the game away unless we could disguise it. A conundrum. Except!
The DM gave our characters a magic bond. We can cast any spell on each other regardless of distance. So my bard used Disguise Self to make the saddle disappear, we put the barbarian on the cleric with Greater Invisibility and send them into battle.
Midway through the dragon just calls in an owlbear. Not to maul our cleric but to just indiscriminately attack all parties. So there’s a bunnyfolk riding around on a half elf fighting a dragon disguised as an orc while an owlbear ran around mauling people until our Druid made friends with it from the sidelines.
The barbarian took a feat to get some on brand spells and at about 1/3 of her health he used Command to get her to submit. It was really low odds she’d fail her save but she rolled a nat one.
She dropped her weapon and kneeled. The party started screeching victory and her horde promptly forsook her and we were all utterly delighted.

ARE YOU THE REASON WHY MY WING DRAWING IS GETTING ATTENTION
WHAT THE FUCK
(if you are a famous person, can you tell people to go look at my other art, like the vampire and schism arc stuff)
-@its-target-official (on main)
…I wouldn’t know about “famous.” Some folks know my writing work from Star Trek, or from the Young Wizards or LGBTQ-centered Middle Kingdoms universes.
I reblogged this, though. (And one of your posts was in the thread.)
Because for artists (and writers, too!), reblogging is the lifeblood of this place. That’s part of the reason I do so much of it.
So if people would kindly go look at your other art too, that’d be fantastic!
And meanwhile, folks: please reblog artists. Likes just lie there, and do nothing for the artist’s visibility (or their work’s). Reblogs travel.
You know how companies used to make flour sacks with pretty flower patterns on them because mothers would make dresses out of them for their daughters? We should bring that back. Paper bags designed to be reused as wrapping paper. Jars of jam designed to look nice filled with pencils or homemade sauces. Fabric that's high quality enough to use as a patch.
So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Let us suppose that the "average" horse would have equal proportions of all these parts. The degree to which each part in this poll deviates from the "average" size (20% of total) will determine how large or small that part of our horse will be (i.e a horse with only 10% in Legs will have legs half the size of the average horse).
I will draw a picture of the horse we make!
