hey uh. i dont usually do things like this but, here we go.
heya, my name is mel ! before you scroll just know that im not asking for money or anything like that, please take a minute to read this.
as some of you know, i was in the hospital for a few days in january. i havent talked about it too much since, heres what happened.
so, i have this super, super rare blood disorder called paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and it effects my life constantly. i cant walk more than a few blocks without feeling weak, winded, sick. i get headaches, im prone to things like blood clotting and leukemia, i have severe anemia, etc. im at the hospital every week receiving the most expensive drug in the world, the only way to put it off and treat it. on top of that, ive gotten ~10 blood transfusions this year and i see more in the future.
my family has put their lives basically entirely on hold to be around for me. as you can imagine, this isnt the ideal situation for us.
now, as i said, im not going to ask for your money or anything. i would feel bad, that’s not what i need at all. there will be an option for that, though, if you cant help/would rather help that way.
here is the important part: the only known cure for PNH is a 10/10 bone marrow match
im white and usually this wouldnt be such a big issue, but i have ashkenazi jew ancestry, and its been a big obstacle in finding a bone marrow match for me. so here is what i ask of you

So I’m on AO3 and I see a lot of people who put “I do not own [insert fandom here]” before their story.
Like, I came on this site to read FAN fiction. This is a FAN fiction site. I’m fully aware that you don’t own the fandom or the characters. That’s why it’s called FAN FICTION.
#I remember when archives wouldn't let authors post unless they had a disclaimer#some authors complained#some refused to do it#but I was like#IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD#THEY'RE ONLY TRYING TO LOOK OUT FOR YOU#(How am I supposed to read your fic if you get sued?)#...#so yeah#I had a more selfish reason for wanting authors to use disclaimers#but still#it was for their own good

This is my cry for help. And I’m ashamed of it with every ounce of my being.
As many of you from Twitter know I crashed my car last night, fairly violently. I was trying to avoid hitting a rabbit on my way home around 3am and I lost control of the car. It hit a concrete drainage outlet and ripped my car apart, rolling it several times down the embankment. Luckily the roof didn’t cave in and I was wearing my seatbelt or I would most likely not be writing this today. All though incredibly shook up, I survived with only a few bruises and sore limbs. I’m going to be fine physically.
It’s this next part that has me utterly terrified. They’re asking for money I don’t have to tow the car. I’ve exhausted pretty much all my other options and this is completely horrible and mortifying for me and I wouldn’t ask in the first place if it wasn’t a dire situation- but I need help. I know that it’s a lot to ask, some of you don’t even know me besides a username but I’m a person. I’m a prideful person. I’ll admit that. I rely on only myself a lot and if I can’t make something work- it doesn’t. I’m not the type to ask for help when I need it because the guilt that I feel just never goes away… And this is something I’m going to have to live with for the rest of my life.
I’m not asking for help to get a new car so I can go to work. I’m not even asking for help to pay for the citation I was written for damaging county property. I just need help getting my car out of the ditch and to the tow yard.
If anyone can please help me- by either donating to my paypal or even just buying something from my Redbubble shop- anything helps. I’m just scared I’m not gonna make it out of this one.
