she stops breathing. she doesn't need to.
it's a human response, reserved for human
interaction. but goddamn. it's like the wind's
been knocked out of her.
❝ micah. they took -- they cleaned. micah. ❞
she can't wrap her head around it. she was
just talking to them the other day. she was
just -- fuck.
❝ we should get inside. ❞
”they took them away…. they took micah away.
and then they gave them back only this time they
can’t remember me.” selfish k. if micah remembered
only them than maybe they wouldn’t be this destroyed.
but this reality shows no favor for lovers who should
not love.
k crumbles in dixon’s arms. “no matter how
many times i got hit; the pain can’t compare. i— i
never understood, dixon. i never understood. your
pain. but now… we’re the same.” k looks up into their
friend’s eyes and fresh tears spill out of their own. a
sad smile plays on their features and a chuckle that
sounds like a muffled sob escapes and disappears into
the night. “i’m such a mess now. how i ever will i
recuperate from this, my friend?”

it takes her a moment to reach the door,
seeing as she's got herself wrapped in
another one of her assignments. she has
to test the probability. work the numbers.
fix it somewhere.
there's jazz playing on her speaker. loud
enough to drown out the first signs of noise.
but you can't drown out k for long. she moves
to open the door, robe tied loosely around her
thin frame.
❝ what happened to you. ❞
she drops to her knees, arms quickly wrapping
around them.
❝ what's going on, kiyoshi. ❞
HYSTERICAL & BROKEN.
they’ve just finished visiting blue—
dixon will see the bruises and scratches
that k refuses to let heal and the blood
that they won’t clean. they’ll smell the stench
of agony and the air and taste the bitterness
of every word k speaks.
FRANTIC & ANXIOUS.
they’re all but screaming for dixon to
open the god forsaken door and time is
either going too fast or too slow but whatever
it’s fucking doing it is w r o n g.
they’re on the ground and they’re begging
things that dont make sense and they’re
scratching and they’re crying and they’re
remembering. they’re remembering.
"i never… knew you could feel a memory die.
not until today.” k had never sounded so fragile.
