I think that definitely makes you... or your ‘friend’... a groupie. What band, anyway? Please tell me they’re famous. I do love a gay scandal.

“Okay, you are right. I may look thirteen,” Timothy joked as he looked at his hands, seeing them twitch on their own. “I think my hands aren’t steady enough for that. I get nervous when I am doing a task. My handwriting during exams was atrocious because my hands would keep twitching.”

“Oh, that must be annoying as fuck. Hey, maybe I could do it for you, should you ever desire to be made-up. It’s really quite fun, you know. I could pick out some nice colours for you, I’m sure I could work out some good tones.” He took a moment to peer at Timothy’s face. “I think some warm colours for you, burnt orange, cranberry reds... hmm, definitely a smokey brown, too. Maybe set off with a plum purple, perhaps as an eye shadow. Hmmm...”

“My ability to grow beautiful eyelashes is just one of my many, many talents,” he smirked.

“How did you manage to do that? I once tried makeup and ended up looking like a preteen in drag for the first time. It could be argued I look like a preteen anyways all the time.”

“Skill, and the teachings of an experienced drag queen, dear. Plus a steady hand, Youtube tutorials, and spending far too many hours watching makeover shows. And honestly, you don’t look like a preteen at all. If anyone does, it’s me.”

“I just used one of those mascara brushes that really emphasizes them. But, yes, they really are gorgeous. Not to sound arrogant or anything. A guy can be proud of his eyelashes.” To make his point, he fluttered them at her. “And thank you. I’m glad to know I have your approval.”

“Are those falsies or are your eyelashes just that gorgeous?” She leaned in close, examining his lashes.

“For a first timer, your makeup is well done and that’s coming from a near-expert.” She smiled, “Yes, you’re very pretty.”

“Aw, you adorable book nerd,” he grinned, watching as Jesse’s attention became consumed by the sheer amount of books. Oliver sneaked through to a different room, slipping between bookcases and waiting silently for Jesse to walk past him. When he spotted him, he jumped out, and grabbed him around the shoulders, laughing mischievously. “Gotcha! God, this place would be perfect for hide and seek, wouldn’t it?”

“That’s why they call it a secret bookshop.” He smirked over at Oliver as he walked inside of the bookshop, his eyes automatically scanning the place looking for any people or anything new to read. “You should’ve seen my face when I first found this place–just like a kid in a candy shop for the first time.” He grinned, running his finger against the spine of a couple books as he walked down a hallway, turning his head to look over his shoulder at Oliver.

“Your parents were drag queens? That is so awesome. God, I shudder to even think about my parents in drag. In fact, my father would probably be horrified with me right now. But, whatever. I look great.” He struck a glamorous pose, somewhat ironically. “And, God yes, I am so up for that! Oh, it’s been such a long time since I got to do stuff like that. The last time would probably have been when I stayed with this queen when I was on the road. She was incredible.”

“Aw,” they let out, putting a hand on their chest, genuinely appreciating the compliment. “Thank you so much, and yeah! I forget people literally teach this shit and I’m here just putting whatever color looks cool,” they laugh. “Can you believe my parents were drag queens and I never learned how to properly contour and highlight? I almost feel like I’m letting them down. We should just have a night where we dress up and literally bake our faces with makeup and lip sync to dance songs.”

“Thank you, cupcake. And you always look fabulous, no lie. If you want a few tips though, I’ll give you the YouTube channel I watched to do all of this. They’ve got great tutorials on softening harder features, as well as defining things like cheek bones. Oh, we need to do this more often. I like girly talk.” 

“Oh my god, you look gorgeous! Teach me your blending skills because I just look beat whenever I have makeup on. Also, the colors you used compliments your eyes like so perfectly.”

“Tried a bit of makeup for the parade, what do you think? It’s harder than it looks, I have to admit. But at least I look real pretty now... right?”

“Well, it’s probably pretty amazing to me, because I fucking suck at sport. I’m skinny and fast, but I’ve got not muscle or stamina. It’s a bit embarrassing, really.”

I’ve been very sporty, nothing that amazing

“Nah, you didn’t. Only been here a few minutes,” he replied, stepping inside and turning his head to watch Jesse come in behind. “I’m still not over how cool this place is. I swear there’s more and more stacks of books each time I show up.” He looked at Jesse and smiled at him. “There’s never anyone else here. I like it. Feels like only we know about it.”

Jesse turned the corner, seeing Oliver waiting for him already. He hurried over,  tossing off the rest of his cigarette onto the sidewalk. “I didn’t keep you waiting too long, did I?” He asked with a playful smile. He leaned closer to him, “Let’s go.” He said with a smirk as he opened the door to the building for Oliver and following behind after.

Oliver stood with his back against the wall outside the bookshop, the secret one Jesse had shown him. He was waiting for the other to arrive, so they could browse together. He looked left and right, searching for his figure to appear in the distance.
