Vincent gave a knowing ‘ah’ noise and nodded.
“Yaotl has told me about something like that happening to him once. It wasn’t…pleasant.”
He turned to his cabinet, humming for a bit before pulling out a small book. Pages were flipped a few times before Vincent stopped. “Here we are! The ingredients are surprisingly simple…well, ‘simple’ if you collect a lot of weird herbs and powders like me.”
Vincent handed the book to Tortus. The list consisted of several ingredients; ‘Heart flower petals, Healing fairy dust, Rose Quartz powder, 1 Hearty radish, 1 teaspoon of honey and sugar, 1 Endura shroom, 1 vanilla bean, 1 Endura Carrot, 1 Warm Safflina.’.
Vincent was rummaging through the drawers of his cabinet, humming as he pulled out a few small jars, one Rose Quartz, and a hammer.
“The Rose Quarts powder is the first thing I like to work on. I’ve got most of the plants here,” Vincent gestured towards a few plants hanging from strange baskets. “There’s one I keep in my garden.”
He glanced up after setting up his work table.
“Would you mind fetching me a small jar in the kitchen? It’s got a few vanilla beans in it.”
Tortus nodded with an ’of course’. It took him a moment to find what was needed, but eventually came back with what Vincent asked for.
Tortus was glad he had asked Vincent. The man knew what he was doing and didn’t judge. Well, didn’t judge unreasonably. This was a large favor, and most potion makers didn’t dare touch potions like this. There was good reason, of course, but it left Tortus with little option but to scratch his neck and try someone else. Luckly, Vincent agreed. Of course, it probably helped that Vincent knew Tortus well enough.
Vincent thanked Tortus and took the vanilla beans from him.
The rose quarts had been smashed into fine powder. Vincent took great care searching his belt for a thin enough knife to slice open the vanilla beans. He hummed happily while scraping the insides into a bowl, before heading to his cabinet.
He searched for a moment. “Hmm, where is it? That jar should be in here.”
Unable to find that jar, Vincent glanced towards Tortus.
“Would you mind watching over my workspace while I get a certain ingredient? I might have left it at Yaotl’s smithing station.”
He rushed out the door, calling over his shoulder, “Don’t let the kids in, they don’t need to get into anything dangerous!”

His ears perked up at the mention of dislike and comfort. His brows furrowed.

He felt his pride waver slightly as he spoke again.
“I’m...trying to fix it...I get that most of what I say or do seems weird to you, or just pisses you off...Nevermind.”
Yaotl is going to slip his smithing mask back down and return to his work.
“I’m not good with being around folks sometimes, alright? I don’t know how to...”
He’s going to stop talking now, for real this time.

Nope. They both think that threes enough.
In different verses, where Yaotl and Vincent aren't together, Vincent would be hesitant to have a kid due to how his father treated him. Yaotl definitely would be hesitant as he never got to meet his first born child back when he was alive.
