Emma’s life was a neverending stream of chores and she spent her life fighting upstream just to breathe. It was why she was going a little faster today, cutting corners here and there in order to make ends meet, and it was why she was struggling to carry this firewood back to the house. Being offered help would normally elicit a curt rebuff, but even she couldn’t deny that she needed the extra hand today.
Still, she hesitated in front of him. Not many were kind enough to offer a stranger help in the first place. What if he had ulterior motives?
A chunk of wood slipped her grasp and she bent, trying to prevent it from hitting the ground, and ended up losing the whole pile. Wood clattered around her feet and she hissed as a few logs hit her legs and feet.
“Ow!” Emma stepped back, just about at her wit’s end now. She pressed her hands against the side of her hair and ran her fingers through her hair. “I’m so sorry, are you alright?”
Baelfire was more concerned about her than he was about himself. Especially when she cried out in pain. “Me? I’m perfectly fine. Are you alright?” He asked, looking her over to make sure she wasn’t injured. “Here.” He gathered up as much wood as he could carry. It helped that he was wearing thick leather gloves. “Where are we headed?” He asked, softly.
He then realized he had entirely forgotten his manners. “Oh! I apologize for my rudeness. I’m Ba-Bae.” He said, catching himself before offering his full name, just in case.

Being the son of a ruler was not as much fun as most people seemed to think. Some people would think living in a castle and having anything money could buy would be everything but all Baelfire had ever longed for was to be normal. His whole life had been mapped out from the day he was born and just once he wanted to know what it felt like to just be Bae, not Prince Baelfire, not Your Highness, just Bae.
It hadn't been easy to slip the Royal Guard. But, he was crafty and he'd managed. Now, he just had to manage to stay off their radar until he was ready to go home. Of course, one of the benefits of having your whole life planned out for you was that there was never a dull moment. Now, for the first time in his life, having the ability to make his own choices, Bae realized he had no idea what to actually do.
He was at a loss as he wandered through the woods. It was then that he saw her. She was a vision and for a moment, Bae questioned whether she was a figment of his imagination. He couldn't imagine how anyone so beautiful could really exist. On the surface, there was nothing glamorous about her. She wasn't someone that would be noticed in a room full of royals in ball gowns, but that was part of the appeal. She had this natural beauty about her.
She was carrying firewood and seemed to be struggling a bit. Bae instantly moved forward. "Here, let me help." He offered.

🌠 - Would your muse make a wish on a star? If so, what would they wish for?
I think Neal is a bit cautious about wishes, almost as much as he is about making deals. But, if it was consequence free, he’d wish for his parents.
🌺 - Does your muse have a favorite flower? Why do they like it?
Yes. Castilleja. His parents would take him with them on hikes regularly and they’d often see various plants and wildlife. Cassidy loved the castilleja flowers that would bloom on the mountainside and as a result, Neal now has a fondness for them because they remind him of his mother.
