$50,000 immediately dropped into my bank account wouldn't improve EVERYTHING but boy it sure would be a grand, sexy little start to a good, happy life path, don't you think

He gave another pause, “You… Live with others correct? They would be okay with hosting a stanger such as myself..?”
He looked a little wary. He was always suspicious whenever someone he didn’t know offered him shelter so easily.
“No, she’s got a point.”
Gabriel sighed, “It started officially when I was around thirteen or fouteen. It’s a hassle— I’ve woken up in a morgue more than once. And. Buried alive a couple times.”
He cringed a bit at that. He did not like being buried alive.
“Anyway, they’re going to deliver the message… Now I have to figure out how to get home…”

He decided not to say anything about her brother apparently sharing in his experiences. He wasn’t one to pry into other people’s demons.
He paused, glancing at his hand as he thought about it. He’d just gotten out of a nasty situation with some very pissed off Githyanki…
“… I’ll need to rest first. I do not have the strength to safely cast anything more than a cantrip for the day, and I was wounded greatly during a series of battles earlier. Will you be able to wait until morning?”
“No, she’s got a point.”

He blinked, glancing around at the small balls of fire. He relaxed a little, letting himself warm up.
"Yes, well, it... It won't. Not while I'm with my patron."
He took a breath, shifting to get a bit more comfortable sitting up, "See, my patron is a deity of Death and Slumber. I er... The tale is complicated, and the pact wasn't even made by me, but... Well, my patron gives me power, and in exchange I must spend four hours a day with them. And... For those four hours, my body is dead. We... Have been referring it as Death Sleeping."

Ah! He was cold! With a small noise of concentration, the room warmed up with a few floating flames. Mostly small and kept away from all the trees making the structure. The dog shivered, but stood up to yawn.
"My Lady tried to revive you but... Well. It didn't work."

"Ugh... Yes, that I am... Mostly..."
He groaned a bit, taking a few more deep breaths before finally sitting up slowly. He was shivering--his skin still a bit cold to the touch.
"I apologize... I should've explained a bit better, but my patron can be impatient at times..."
Star was patiently, if not creepily, standing over the corpse without any breath of their own. There was a new addition to the room, a horned lanky limbed dog who just seemed to snooze without much thought. There was half a front leg missing.
"You're alive!"
So much for not feeling out.

Negotiating with his patron was always tricky. They couldn’t exactly add time to his death sleep— that would risk his body being unable to wake up afterwards, thus resulting in true death. But, since it was a simple message, they agreed that the offering would suffice enough.
Thus Gabriel left his patron to deliver the message, and wandered the realm of the dead. He’d seen almost every inch of this place by now… Though never far from the Styx. He wasn’t sure he was allowed.
Several hours later, a sudden breath was taken by the seemingly cold body. He coughed a bit, grimacing and just laying there a second while his body remembered how to be alive, “Fuck, that never gets easier…”
Oh. Oh dear that's. That's actually bad.
Uh.
"I need to get Opal."
Was she low on power? Yes, but this person isn't breathing and that sounded a lot like a final breath! With concern they run back to the house to grab a bleary birdie before shoving her at the corpse.
"I um. Found him and then he did a ritual and now he's dead. Fix him?"
While eloquent normally, they do reserve the right to a little freak out.
After a moment, the bird grew in size into a yawning Opal. Her feathers a bit ruffled but more willing to see what she could do.
"I can't bring back the dead but if this just happened then..."
Her hand glowed a vivid green, awashing a healing glow over the bed.

Silent as the grave he was, and completely unaware of their attempt at reviving him. The magic, while at first seeming to begin taking hold, merely fizzled out before any healing could take place. Still ever deathly still.
And while his body lay vulnerable upon the bed, his soul 'awoke' within the familiar coldness of his patron's home. The underworld of his timeline. He glanced at his hands, seeing that ethereal green around his body, and silently hoped that his trust in that stranger had been well placed.
He made his way through the familiar terrain, finding his patron to sit him down and talk to him. Hopefully get them to agree to doing him a favor while he spent the remaining four hours of his time here doing... Well. Whatever he could to pass the time.
Oh. Oh dear that's. That's actually bad.

He gave a small nod, “That’s reasonable. I’ve never gotten violent before but… I will be vulnerable.” His frown deepened a bit, “I will need four hours. That is all. Then we may speak again.”
He took in a breath, moving so he was sitting a bit further up on the bed. He’d rather not fall off and onto the floor. Taking in a breath, he closed his eyes.
When next he opened them, the color had changed. Both eyes were now a piercing, glowing bright necrotic green color. Words spilled from his mouth, though the language was… Divine. Or perhaps more Eldritch. The feather was enveloped in a glowing green mist, withering away into nothing after a moment. Once done, the glow slowly left his eyes, and he tipped over.
Falling right onto his side on the bed, the light leaving his eyes and color draining slightly from his face. He let out a small sigh, and did not draw breath again— and his pulse slowed to a stop. By all accounts… Gabriel was dead.
" You may make yourself comfortable. I can get you some food if you'd like, but as for your companions I'm afraid I'm unsure what to do."
They turned on the heater, just to make sure the room warmed up more. It wasn't the most comfortable but it was sufficient. Star was only glad Opal was good at growing a structure like this, even if she had to dig in the dirt a little to keep it temperature regulating.
" How would you normally contact them if you were separated?"

He paused, hesitating yet again. Providing an offering to his patron wasn’t a very in depth thing— not unless he wanted to make it a big deal. The problem lay with trusting this person not to take advantage of what came after giving the offering.
What he could feel nagging at the back of his mind already.
He reached to take the feather, gently holding it in his fingers, “The act of giving it isn’t too big a deal… A few words and it’ll be on it’s way…” He looked up at them, “What I need you to promise me is that you won’t freak out over what happens after. Nor will you take advantage of it.”
" You may make yourself comfortable. I can get you some food if you'd like, but as for your companions I'm afraid I'm unsure what to do."

“Ah… It’s uhm… Basically Warlocks make a pact with a higher being in exchange for power and favors…”
Though in Gabriel’s case his pact was made for him. He was going to try not to scowl at the thought, however.
He blinked, glancing at the feather in a familiar curiosity. His younger self often showed interest in anything new… It seemed this older Gabriel hadn’t completely lost that spark. Still, he eyed the feather in thought. He supposed it would work— unlike most Warlocks, his patron was a deity. One of a completely opposite domain to his mother’s.
“… It might work, yes…”
" You may make yourself comfortable. I can get you some food if you'd like, but as for your companions I'm afraid I'm unsure what to do."

Gabriel was a bit hesitant for a moment, then moved to sit on the edge of the bed. His civilian clothes were back at camp... He'd have to sleep in his armor tonight, but he'd slept in more uncomfortable situations.
"To be honest, I... Don't know. We've never gotten separated to this degree before. We... Have a sort of telepathic way to communicate, but I'm too far from them to use it..." He frowned, "I suppose I should invest in sending stones, or something of the like when I get back..."
He paused. Maybe he could ask his patron to speak to them...?
"... I, erm... I am a Warlock... I may be able to ask my patron to give them a message." He glanced to the side, "They are... Fickle, but if it is the only way..."
" You may make yourself comfortable. I can get you some food if you'd like, but as for your companions I'm afraid I'm unsure what to do."

The man followed them into the little makeshift home. It was comfortable, he'd admit. His eyes did linger on the bed, however. He hadn't slept in an actual bed in... Years... He quickly glanced away, trying not to stare.
"... Understandable. We are strangers to one another, after all."
He stepped further into the little room, glancing around a bit more. He still looked worried-- This late at night there was no way his party would be getting any sleep while he was missing. He'd made them aware of his... Condition already-- They'd likely be searching for him before it got too late. But there was nothing Gabriel could do about that now.
Oh. Another from a... Less technological land. A bit of a pain but something could be done. While the house was mostly quiet, lights off except for the occasional flicker of a late night owl, she wasn't heading to it.
There was a small growth out of the ground behind the house, trees all bound and twisted together into an arch that kept the inside rather toasty. A bed, a small space heater, and a desk was available.
"It's not the best, but I cannot let you inside the house until I can assure the house's safety.

Reunion after (physical) trauma prompts
tws apply: grief/fear for someone’s life, mention of injuries, unconsciousness, hospitals, comas, mention of involuntary drugging. that’s the general vibe.
WORDS
“Theeeere you are. Hi. Welcome back.”
“Breathe. Hi, we found you, just breathe for me, okay?”
“This is going to hurt, but it will help you.”
“You’re safe. [Name], can you hear me? They’re here to help you, you need to let them help you.”
“I found them, they’re over here!”
“Does anyone have medical training?”
“N.. no, no, no, no, hey. [Name]? Hi, I’ve got you.”
“You can sleep, [name]. It’s over.”
“I’ll still be here when you wake up.”
“You were in an induced coma. Your body went through a lot.”
“I wasn’t –… Your doctors weren’t sure you’d wake up.”
“[Name]? Was that - did you squeeze my hand?”
“It’s okay. It’s meant to be there, it’s helping you breathe.”
“Can you hear me?”
“You.. you were so close to dying. I was scared.”
ACTIONS
[ GATHER ] for sender to gather receiver’s (unconscious) body into their arms, in the style of no no no not them.
[ STARING ] for sender to find receiver sitting alone staring at a wall, covered in blood, and to touch their arm.
[ WAITING ] for sender to be waiting at receiver’s hospital bedside when receiver finally comes out of a coma, or wakes from surgery.
[ STEADY ] for sender to catch or steady receiver when receiver tries to stand up too early or to push their body past what it’s ready for
[ TEARS ]  for receiver to find tears on sender’s face, when they’re finally reunited (either immediately after the trauma, or waking up in a hospital), because sender thought receiver was dead or dying
[ GRIEF ]  for receiver to wake up just as sender is saying goodbye, because the doctors told them to. feel free to specify what they might be saying. do not judge me, this is going in the meme
[ LETTER ] for sender to find a last letter, video, text, etc that receiver made for them, thinking they wouldn’t make it out of the situation alive. Obviously receiver does make it out alive, but the letter/video still exists (and receiver will detail what’s in it).
[ FIGHT ] for receiving muse to not recognize sender or medical staff trying to help them, due to being drugged or otherwise disoriented – so they fight.
