The plot thickens with whispers in the darkness...
Of Chalices and Chickens, the sixth chapter of Dumbledore's Army and the Ambrosius Chalice, has now been added on Wattpad. Find it HERE!
¤▪︎¤▪︎¤▪︎¤▪︎¤
The Ambrosius Chalice is the first installment of a seven-part series known as Dumbledore's Army Reborn. Unlike most "fanfiction"-type works, this story follows an entirely new set of characters, with the canon characters playing supporting roles in that journey. It fills in the space between the Deathly Hallows and the Cursed Child, answering many questions fans have had such as, "Where did the new time turner come from?" and, "Who gave the prophecy about the Augurey?"
Utmost attention has been paid to every detail so that this series can fit alongside anything that can be considered canon, including the original Harry Potter series, the Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and writings posted by Rowling on the Pottermore and Wizarding World websites. In other words, it is a continuation of the wonderful world-building started by Rowling herself that can go hand-in-hand with previously-made additions.

If you like what shows up on this blog, you'll love Selwyn's newest story entitled Dumbledore's Army and the Ambrosius Chalice.
"Learning magic is difficult enough without having to worry about preventing another Wizarding War. All Seth has ever wanted is to go to Hogwarts, make friends, and rise to the top of his class. But when he and his best friend Jordyn overhear a whispered conversation about the return of Lord Voldemort, all ability to focus on his studies goes out the window faster than a Peruvian Vipertooth.
"The Dark Forces have barely survived since You-Know-Who was defeated, but now they are stirring once again. Someone at Hogwarts is on the hunt for an artefact hidden within the castle that is rumoured to have the power to resurrect the Dark Lord. Not knowing who they can trust, it's up to a small band of students to prevent the Ambrosius Chalice from falling into the wrong hands. But with mysterious clues, dodgy teachers, and bothersome classmates, will they be able to find it in time?"

With all the things happening in No-Maj America currently, this blog will be taking part in the #blackouttuesday event! That means that the Sorting Game will be put on hold for the time being, and I hope that good people will join us in creating a space so we are able to have a discussion on how to better this world for all of our fellow human beings.
We love you!

PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT
Friends, listen, we need to talk about plagiarizing. Y'all need to understand that taking things and using them as your own as if you created them is not okay.
Each and every one of you is free to use anything you would like from this blog for stories, fanfiction, videos, whatever. BUT you must give us credit for their creation!
It's as simple as that: step 1) mention that these things come from the Tumblr blog found at the URL official-ilvermorny.tumblr.com, and step 2) use what you want! We don't prohibit the use of our creations, we just want the credit for creating them!
Now, using our posts is not the same as stealing our posts and posting them as your own on a different website. No one should use a direct "copy paste" at all, but the very least you could do is mention that these things are not your own and they belong to someone else.
This is an official written request for all posts copied directly from this blog or any of its sister blogs to be removed immediately from any other websites, such as Wattpad, Fanfiction.net, Archive Of Our Own, etc. It is also a request that when this blog's ideas, locations, items, and characters or those of any of its sister blogs are used in any form, credit be given to the blog and its admins as is rightfully due.
(Another side note that isn't necessarily required but is simply a request from me as a lover of all things Wizarding World: when you make something using our ideas, let us know! We'd love to give you a shout-out on the blog! And, it helps things like this to not happen!)
Thank you all for reading, and for your love and patience. We love doing what we do, but in order to do it, rules have to be followed.
I love you all so much! You're the best!

First: this blog is incredibly thourough snd I love it. And second: This doesn't really have anything to do with Ilvermorny, but what are some of the awards and acheivments in the North American wizarding society? (Like Europe has the Order of Merlin and all that stuff)
1. MACUSA Medal of Honor - A golden triangle bearing the seal of MACUSA, held by a violet ribbon. It is, simply put, a magical version of the No-Maj original (yes, in this case the No-Maj one came first). It is given for great courage shown in action against the Dark forces, both domestic and foreign. It is granted very rarely and is thus the highest award possible for MACUSA to bestow upon a witch or wizard.
2. Atskin White Cross - A small cross fashioned from bone bearing the mark of Healers (a pair of snakes wrapped around an upright wand) in the circular center. This award is given to any American resident who makes a great achievement in the field of Healing in whatever form. Many have received it by finding treatments for new curses developed by Dark wizards, and others for saving the life of an influential member of society such as the President of MACUSA.
3. Scarlet Griffin Recognition Award - A simple parchment certificate signed by each of the eight Chairmen of the Syndicate of the Scarlet Griffin. The pledge of the Syndicate is to improve life and society for all beings, magical and otherwise. Thus, this award is given to recognize any exceptional achievement made by a witch or wizard that improves society and civilization in some great way. The recipient need not be an official member of the Syndicate to qualify for consideration.
Thanks for asking!

My life is highly unusual, even for a wizard. I used to think that I knew everything about myself and my family, but now I’m not so sure. Too many things have happened. I don’t know what to believe anymore.
Here are some of the things I do know for certain:
     - My name is Seth Edward Selwyn.
     - I was born on July 24th of the year 2000 in London, England.
     - I have lived in different parts of America for most of my life, never staying in one place for too long. I and my brother, Asher, attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, instead of Hogwarts like our parents.
     - My father was taken to prison, charged with the use of a Dark, Irreversible Curse. I was the victim.
     - My mother has been missing for three years.
     - I have strange dreams. I can’t explain what they mean, but I know they’re important. Somehow.
     - I studied in el Conservatorio Mágico del Ecuador to get some answers. I only came out with more questions.
As you can see, the things I do know are far outweighed by the things I don’t. It’s my own life, and I don’t know half of what’s going on. There are so many confusing things that it’s hard to sort through it all. I’ve tried to figure it out on my own, but I just can’t.
That’s the purpose of this blog. As I go about discovering what’s going on, I will upload everything – documents, photos, my own journal entries, etc. It will serve as a way to not only record what I’ve found, but also to get help from you.
Please, if you’re reading this, I need your help. Follow this blog so you can stay updated, and if you know something, tell me immediately. I have to know what’s true. Any ideas you might have will help.
Welcome to The Discoveries of Seth Selwyn

It is decided! I am taking a Portkey to El Conservatorio Mágico de Ecuador in the mountains of Ecuador today! I will be learning South American Herbology, Magizoology, Potioneering, charms, and magical history (and hopefully Spanish…) at the Conservatorio and some surrounding areas, so that I may better teach the classes when I return to Ilvermorny!
Thank you all so much for all of your support in everything! See you in about two years!
~Selwyn
(OOC: I have been called to the Quito Ecuador mission, Spanish-speaking, and I report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo on October 10th! I am so excited to be an instrument in the Lord’s hands to help build His Kingdom on the Earth!)

Same over here!
Get questions in now!
Okay guys, here’s the deal:
When I get the owl from MACUSA telling me where I’ll be going for studying abroad, I will be leaving the next day! That means I’ll have time to let you all know where it is, but the very next day this blog will go on hiatus!
So if you have any questions about Ilvermorny or wizarding America, get them in now and within the next couple of weeks or you may not get an answer for a couple of years!
Thanks!
~Selwyn
(OOC: Once I get my call on my mission, I’m going to be deleting Tumblr help prepare for my mission, so that’s the real reason I’ll be on hiatus. Thanks!)

Winged Horses
The aristocracy of the American wizarding world, still as prominent today as ever, is much of what keeps winged horse riding a relevant pastime. It is considered a mark of the sophisticated and high-class to be able to ride a winged horse. The manor houses on southern wizarding plantations are not complete without the stables on the nearby grounds, and areas are placed with wards to prevent No-Maji from noticing the riders as they prove their dexterity on a Pegasid.
Most wizarding schools provide an avioequestrian class as an elective. However, at the Randolph-Poythress Institute, it is a requirement to learn how to rein and ride a winged horse. The Institute’s motto, “Excellence Will Flourish,” echoes their promise to train their student to become the country’s high and mighty. Thus, they are taught everything a young lady or gentleman of high society may need to know, including riding.
It is not only the aristocratic upper class, though, that rides; winged horses are as integral to the culture of America as a broomstick. Most commonly, of course, American witches and wizards ride Pegasids for sport and leisure. In fact, although gambling is outlawed in most cases by MACUSA and the No-Maj government alike, winged horse racing is as popular in the wizarding world as the mundane version is to No-Maji, including the bets associated with it.
In the Mid- and Southwest, winged horses have been used by magical ranchers, herders, and cowboys since the introduction of Re'em and Pheasant Griffins to America. However, because of the high price that winged horse breeders set for the purebred Aethonan, Granian, Haizum, Shabdiz, and Volucens horses, westerners were usually only able to buy the less-than-perfect horses from winged horse breeders – those with undesired effects of crossbreeding magical horses. These “defects” included wings too small to lift off or too large to close, too many or not enough legs, or unusual and unexpected coat colors. Many times, these horses were released into the wild when they became too much of a burden to their caretakers. Thus, there are many strange and unusual winged horses in the wild, particularly in the Flaming Gorge Magical Wildlife Preserve in Wyoming.
The possession of an automobile is highly controlled and limited by MACUSA because of the likelihood of No-Maj technology to malfunction around magic. Instead, carriages are used quite often by witches and wizards in America, particularly where broomsticks are too noticable. These carriages are almost always drawn by winged horses rather than mundane, though one must obtain a permit in order to take flight. On the first day of school, students of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry board Haizum-drawn carriages on Mount Greylock, which then transport them to the gates of the castle, and on the last day of school, the same carriages carry them down the mountain so that they may return to their homes.
~Selwyn
Special thanks to @themonsterblogofmonsters for allowing the use of their creatures! Also, to @americanwizarding for creating RPI and spurring the idea of winged horse riding in magical America.
