Hey y’all, it’s thinking about the Salem/Cinder/Ruby dynamic hours again...
So, we know Cinder wants Ruby dead because she is afraid. It’s implied she has always been afraid- always been terrified of being powerless. And she joined Salem to gain enough power to never feel that way again- but in her moment of triumph, after finally becoming a maiden, she’s rendered powerless yet again.
She blames Ruby for this- Ruby made her feel helpless, she’s powerless against Ruby’s silver eyes, Ruby made her weak. And so it’s become her desperate quest to kill the thing that makes her feel powerless, the thing that makes her feel afraid. But we, the audience, can see that it wasn’t Ruby who gave her this weakness- it isn’t Ruby that is her biggest threat. It’s Salem.
Salem gave her power, yes, but it came with a massive catch. By fusing Cinder with Grimm to let her take the maiden powers, Salem installed a massive vulnerability, one which lets her keep control. Salem grants power, but includes a failsafe to take it all away, because she needs to keep Cinder feeling powerless, needs her desperate to gain more power. It ensures Cinder stays under her sway. And as long as Cinder believes that Ruby is the one making her feel powerless, Salem stays free of that blame, and is able to manipulate her pawn freely. She can keep Cinder’s power in check without Cinder resenting her for it.
Of course Salem doesn’t want Ruby dead- she’s the perfect tool to maintain control over Cinder, offered up by date on a shining silver platter.

So a few months ago I learned that when you have ADD/ADHD, in order to efficiently manage it (and thus reduce the stress that comes with it), you need to concentrate on four things:
Sleep Nutrition Activity Personal time/space
OH HEY GUYS LOOK AN ACRONYM THAT’S ACTUALLY EASY TO REMEMBER!
SNAP
Do you feel yucky and aren’t sure why? Look at your SNAP. Figure out what you’re missing.
Are you getting enough sleep?
Are you eating enough, and is what you’re eating mostly made of nutritious foods?
Are you getting enough physical activity?
Are you getting enough alone time to decompress, to reset your sensory overload, to spend time in your head, and relax?
I have found that 1) I feel so, so much better when I’m actively putting effort into my SNAP, and 2) if I feel weird, it’s way easier to narrow down what might be the problem by asking myself those questions.
10/10 would recommend.

Doing something becomes more difficult if you also have to focus on doing something else at the same time.
When neurotypical people are involved, this is treated like an obvious statement. For example, it's why we have laws against texting while driving. By focusing on texting, you'll focus less on driving and be more likely to crash.
But when disabled people are involved, people think forcing them to focus on many things at once will somehow help.
If an autistic person is forced to make eye contact, they'll be less able to listen to what you're saying. For autistic people, eye contact requires constantly reminding themselves to make eye contact, blocking out how painful it is, and controlling their facial expressions so the eye contact is not misinterpreted as flirting or aggression. Can you really expect someone to listen to what you're saying while doing all that?
If someone has to focus on masking their autistic traits and appearing neurotypical, they'll be less likely to be able to focus on learning actual necessary skills.
Imagine if learning how to safely text while driving was needed in order to pass your driving test, and someone who simply refused to text while driving was accused of not taking it seriously. That's often how disabled people are treated.

‪I have so many interests but can never start on any of them. Or, I keep starting projects just to abandon them half way through. More contradicting ADHD things (that drive me nuts)‬
‪Almost through with the year! I’m planning a fun themed January, I hope you’ll enjoy it! (RSD is fun, right?). Please consider supporting me on patreon if you like my comics :)

I’ve wanted to have an empty template for the Huntsman and Huntress licenses for quite a while now lol, so when I saw the twitter post containing RWBY’s licenses I decided to recreate them and make a Huntsman version myself.  If you compare it to the originals, it’s far from perfect, but close enough I feel like to not matter too much.  I figured I wasn’t the first/only oc hoarder person with RWBY ocs that would love to use these (or maybe who wanted to recreate some canon characters’ licenses), so I made versions for all the kingdoms in Remnant for others to use!
I posted these blanks, but I also have an .XCF (GIMP) and .PSD (Photoshop) file that includes placeholder text for the names, license number, ect, the outlines separated from the background, as well as few other things. You can find those
by clicking here.
(just click into the file type you want and there should be a download button towards the top right.
Feel free to use these for anything you want as long as you credit me! ( @rwby-party)
One thing I do want to mention is that the barcode included reads “Brawnwen Qrow.” It’s copied across all of RWBY’s licenses and seems to be leftover from Qrow’s, as his name is also misspelled as Brawnwen on his license. I’d suggest making your own Barcode with a link provided below! (I figured it’d be easy enough to edit out if someone didn’t want it, but left it for those who didn’t feel like editing one in.)
Below the cut are some tips/pointers for making these look right!

people seem to have trouble understanding why i’m an anti-capitalist, so i’m going to try and put it into simple, real-life terms.
i work at a restaurant. i make $12 an hour, plus tips. minimum wage where i live is relatively high for my country - the national minimum wage is $7.25/hr, and has not been raised since 2009. before taxes, working full time, my yearly income is about $22,000 a year. ($25,000 if you count tips)
at my job, we sell various dishes, with an average price of about $10-$15. we get printouts every week detailing how much money we made that week; in one week, our restaurant makes about $30,000. (one of our other locations actually makes this much on a daily basis!)
i’m not going to go into details, but after the costs of production (payroll for employees, rent for the building, maintenance, and wholesale food purchasing) are accounted for, the restaurant makes an estimated profit of $20,000 per week.
this profit goes directly to the owner, who does not work at this location. the owner of my restaurant has actually been on vacation for a few months, but still profits from the restaurant, because they own it. i have met the owner exactly twice in my year of working here.
to put this into perspective, the owner of this restaurant earns in 2 days what they pay me in one year. and that’s just from this single location - the owner has several other restaurants, all of which make more money than the one i work at. this ends up resulting in the owner having an estimated net worth of tens of millions of dollars, even after accounting for the payroll for every single worker in their employ.
now, i have to ask you: does the owner of my restaurant deserve this income? did they earn it? did their labor result in this value being created?
the naive answer would be “yes”; the owner purchased the location and arranged for the raw ingredients to be delivered, did they not?
the actual answer is “no”. the owner may have used their initial capital to start the location, but the profit is a result of my labor, and the labor of my co-workers.
the owner purchases rice at a very low bulk price of about 25 cents a pound. i cook the rice, and within a few minutes, that pound of rice is suddenly worth about $30. the owner did not create this value, i did. the owner simply provided the initial capital investment required to start the process.
what needs to be understood here is that capitalists do not create value. they use the labor of their employees to create value, and then take the excess profit and keep it.
what needs to be understood is that capitalists accrue income by already HAVING money. the owner of my restaurant was only able to get this far because they started off, from the very beginning, with enough money to purchase a building, purchase food in bulk, and hire hundreds of employees.
that is to say: the rich get richer, and they do so by exploiting the labor of the poor.
the owner of my restaurant could afford to triple the income of every single person in their employee if they felt like it, but this would mean that they were generating less profit for themselves, so they do not.
the owner of my restaurant pays me the current minimum wage of my area, because to them, i am not a person. i am an investment. i am an asset. i am a means to create more money.
when you are paid minimum wage, the message your boss is sending you is this: “legally, if i could pay you less, i would.”
every capitalist on the planet exploits their workers for their own gain. every capitalist, even the small business owners, forces people to stay in poverty so that the capitalist can profit.

remember being labeled an “advanced reader” in elementary school which just meant that you ended up staring blankly at the wall for 20 minutes because you finished reading the passage before everyone else and the teacher would yell at you if you tried to read ahead

can you explain the similarities and differences between autism and Aspergers? I know that there are a few things that are similar but I'm not 100% sure and Google just confuse me.
Tumblr media
Aspergers is no longer appart of the DSM.
What originally was going on on when people were getting the diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome (I was one of them) is that it was supposed to be a less “severe form of autism”. Basically, you understand things a little better socially and overall that type of autism wasn’t supposed to affect you the same way that people were saying just “autism” was supposed to.
Doctors and specialist in the field finally came together said, “You know what this is so dysfunctional.”
Why?
Notice how when I talked about Asperger’s is a form of autism. It’s just that, they realized it’s no “form” it just is autism. Just because a person has certain traits or acts a certain way of them doesn’t discount them from being autistic. Due to the tags they tried to put autism in it made things all the more impossible to decipher. No one autistic person is the same with who we are.
People weren’t getting appropriate services and treated poorly.
Many people were getting excluded from services and accommodations they needed because of it. If you were someone who has a high level of needs then you might be excluded from regular ed classes or events. If you were a person with mid to low tier needs you might not get the appropriate accommodations because you were thought to “cope” with things better. It became very exclusionist amongst the nonmedical community too and the autism community (morse so with the warrior parents and abelists) and still is like that unfortunately now in a lot of places.
There are some doctors and specialists that still diagnosis with “Aspergers” to explain how you are. But really you would get filled under something called ASD1 now.
To this day there are still people who do like to be under the term “Aspegers” or Aspie for their own personal reasons.

This is extremely relatable. I tick every box except for one, and that one is true situationally. We aren’t bad at being people, and it isn’t our fault. It’s too bad the world simply doesn’t see it that way. Like any other disability, we need accommodations in order to succeed, but it’s been hammered into us that we simply need to try harder despite doing our absolute best.

Facebook is really kicking my arse with memes today.
I KNOW I'm taking these things too personally, and I'm not mad at the (two different) people who shared them, or the people that made them, but it's just super upsetting to see them today, while everything is so hard.
Because do you know what? I can receive top grades, can't speak 3 languages but can excel in creative and academic writing, music, geometry, science, practical creative crafts and engineering, problem solving skills...
And yeah. You're right. NONE of that matters, because I can't fully manage my emotions. My conflict resolution skills are exceedingly situational. And no, I can't handle stress. So no matter what other skills I have, or how hard I work, I cannot succeed.
And yes. I tick every box on that grid. I AM bad at being a person. But it's not just out of the blue. I have a condition, and the symptoms are all of those things.
I'm not sure why I've written this rant, except that I'm hurting and I just want someone to be with me in it. Maybe someone will see this and realise that they're not just randomly bad at being a person and failing at life. Maybe they have ADHD too, or another condition. But I'm not sure I have comfort to offer right now other than "It's probably better to know it's not your fault".

I ended up investing in a spyder to calibrate my displays due to this exact problem. It has various widely used color profiles you can use so that you can make sure it will look decent in print etc..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s the difference?
The left was colored on a tablet and when viewed on my actual monitor. I didn’t like the colors.
The right was edited via Photoshop with the colors I wanted but in exchange, it didn’t have the colors I wanted exactly.
