Han Jisung. A friend of a friend; nothing more, really. He was good in some classes but you were better and, well, it probably didn’t sit right with him. At least, that was how you justified the way you were talking to each other every chance you got.
“Hey Y/N, what grade did you get in the charms exam on nonverbal spells?” asked Jisung as he was jogging to get to your level (pun intended) as you were with Seungmin.
Instead of answering, you pulled your wand out of your robes’ pocket and pointed it to him. He first thought nothing happened so he smirked before throwing what you were sure was a witty remark, but no sound could come out of his mouth, no matter how hard he tried.
“I did pretty well, thanks for asking, Han. How about you?” It was your turn to smirk.

It was a very vivid memory for Juyeon, taking place in kindergarten when you had yanked off his shoe when he was still on the monkey bars. You were quick and fast, running around with it in your hand around the playground, even going as far as to hide from him. He didn’t know you at all, not understanding the logic behind your actions, but one thing was for sure, you had guts.
His first recollection with you left quite an impression on him. Despite having multiple classes throughout elementary school, you guys never really talked until the seventh grade though, and soon enough with the concept of time and common interests, it didn’t take long for you and him to become best friends.

"and you have," jaehyun interjects, as the smile from his lips fades. "you've changed. a lot."
a sigh escapes from your lips, as your eyes looked up to meet his.
"people go through changes, and so do i." you reply, calmly. "i can never be the same person who i was seven years ago."
you averted your gaze elsewhere, as silence took upon you both. it was the truth, you have changed. you weren't the sweet, innocent and naive girl who once fell in love.
jaehyun was your first love, and your first heartbreak. he loved and cared for you so much, at the same time, he never failed to make you feel special.
you had to admit that he was your ideal type, the guy you'd love to spend eternity with. as if you were in a fairytale where you are the princess, and he's your prince charming. it was all lovely and wonderful while it lasted.
but just like any other love stories, it eventually came to an end.
when jaehyun told you he had to pursue his dream of being an idol, you had no choice but to let go and let him chase his dreams. you've seen how much passionate he was when it comes to doing what he loved the most, and the last thing you could do is to get on his way.
now, you just consider it as a bittersweet memory of you both.
"what happened to our happily ever after?" jaehyun's question snapped you back into reality, and you could just shrug in return.
"it ended long ago, jae. there was never a happy ever after for us." you can't help but to stifle a laugh, for that you thought it sounded so cliché.
without you knowing, jaehyun looked to your side with those pained eyes. his heart shattered just by hearing those words coming out of your mouth.
jaehyun longed for you, yet it seems that you had already moved on. the thing on his chest ached as the realization hit him.
you weren't the only one who changed, your heart did too.
he was too late. you can never be his and he can never be yours, just like before.

the lights do not resume their flickering, the rickety old shed's last bit of strength fizzling out to shroud the room in complete and utter darkness, much like the once glimmering spark of his eyes mirroring the emptiness he feels inside.
lee jeno was a strong man, at least that is what people like to believe in. he doesn't lower his gaze in the presence of vicious creatures, he doesn't cower in fear of anything or anyone.
he just doesn't. no, he didn't.
he had never faltered in front of danger before, that was when you had hugged him tight to keep him going. he never trembled before anything, only when you had kissed his forehead before he went out every night. he just was not afraid when you had been the strength that built him up.
that was before. now here he is, wishing for the single candle on the table for two to light back up again. he stands, shaking like the most brittle of leaves in a storm, begging for his hand to be held again.

Reconciliation seems impossible– then a person from one group falls in love with a person from the other.

I actually used a lot of passages from this essay of Romeo and Juliet since I didn’t actually read it, all passages of the characters that talk about the play and are in italics belong to the rightful owner of this essay.

For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.” your voice resonates in the quiet classroom, your words followed by more silence as you drop to your seat and close the book, placing it onto your table. The reality sinks in as the entirety of your English literature class doesn’t dare to say a word, the moment you finish reading the oh so famous Shakespearen drama making everyone lose themselves in their thoughts.
