It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.
decolonizepalestine has tons of information on Palestine’s history/propaganda that has been spread throughout the years
UK citizens can email their MP asking for a ceasefire
US citizens can call/email their local government officials asking for a ceasefire
Jewish Voice for Peace also has many resources for ways for US citizens to get involved, including protests
Donate to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
Donate to Medical Aid for Palestine
Donate to help get food and hygiene kits to Gaza

coming back to this to add my own advice: ⤵️
i had this really bad during and post lockdown, although it was probably linked with brain fog and/or anxiety on my end. for me it’s kind of like being a brain in a jar with eyes and ears…? i ended up talking to two therapists about this, but they kind of just said “huh that’s weird” and didn’t bring it up much after that (it wasn’t their expertise, i guess?).
random things that maybe helped:
- i wear glasses (literally watching my life through a window lmao), and for me it helps to take them off when the disassociation gets really bad. i can’t explain it, but it makes the world feel closer…? and the background details are less distracting.
-not using headphones/earbuds in public. maybe this isn’t an option for those with auditory sensory issues, but listening to music or podcasts makes me do brain spirals, which makes it hard to feel like i’m existing as a body in an environment.
-changing your environment/avoiding triggers. this is a super hard one, but generally disassociation happens because of trauma. (for me, i had some discord-based trauma bc i’m a cowardly loser, so i moved my friendships off discord… the interface alone was sort of triggering, and made me go all brain-jar.) again, this is really hard, but it’s easier to not disassociate if you don’t need to (or feel like you need to) disassociate.
anyway these are my suggestions, sorry for jumping the gun and assuming disassociation… hopefully this helps someone…? generally i think logging off the internet helps. some other ppl r saying HRT, but i haven’t gone on hormones before, so idk. sorry for my mind boggling word slag it’s kinda late here, goodnight.
