it sucks that the english sub translated nanika to “something” like yes that’s what technically killua is saying but that’s not what he’s saying. he named her that because it was meant to be a play on alluka’s name. allu-ka. nani-ka. but there was another reason why that was the name he chose. the family always referred to her as something. it was meant to separate her from them. it was meant to be dehumanizing. so what does killua do? he takes that “name” and actually turns it a name. he closes the separation between her and her family - and by family, i mean killua, because that’s truly the only family she has. he uses the way they dehumanized her to humanize her. to translate it as “something” completely erases all of that.
