TOLKIEN LADIES: Berúthiel
Berúthiel lived in the King's House in Osgiliath, hating the sounds and smells of the sea and the house that Tarannon built below Pelargir "upon arches whose feet stood deep in the wide waters of Ethir Anduin;" she hated all making, all colours and elaborate adornment, wearing only black and silver and living in bare chambers, and the gardens of the house in Osgiliath were filled with tormented sculptures beneath cypresses and yews. She had nine black cats and one white, her slaves, with whom she conversed, or read their memories, setting them to discover all the dark secrets of Gondor, so that she knew those things "that men wish most to keep hidden," setting the white cat to spy upon the black, and tormenting them. No man in Gondor dared touch them; all were afraid of them, and cursed when they saw them pass.

TOLKIEN LADIES: Silmariën
From Silmariën’s lineage came the Kings of Gondor and Arnor living in exile in Middle-earth. She was one of the most significant of Númenor’s royal family, as she inherited both the sword Narsil and the Ring of Barahir from Tar-Elendil, her father. These heirlooms were then handed down to her descendants, the Lords of Andúnië and later the Kings of Gondor and Arnor. The royal jewel, Elendilmir, included a fillet of Mithril that had once belonged to Silmariën survived the Fall of Númenor to become part of the crown of Arnor, and eventually survived up until the time of King Elessar.

Isildur and Anárion were borne away southwards, and at the last they brought their ships up the Great River Anduin, that flows out of Rhovanion into the western sea in the Bay of Belfalas; and they established a realm in those lands that were after called Gondor….
In Minas Ithil was the house of Isildur, and in Minas Anor the house of Anárion, but they shared the realm between them and their thrones were set side by side in the Great Hall of Osgiliath.

Finduilas of Dol Amroth
[…], taking as a wife Finduilas, daughter of Adrahil of Dol Amroth. She was a lady of great beauty and gentle heart, but before twelve years she passed and died. Denethor loved her, in his own fashion, more dearly than any other […]. But it seemed to men that she withered in the guarded city, as a flower of the seaward vales set upon a barren rock. The shadow of in the east filled her with horror, and she turned her eyes ever south to the sea that she missed.

Decided to fight art block by finishing this drawing of young Elendil looking a bit bored in Andúnië. This has been sitting in the wip pile for the last three months! I'm obsessed with Elendil's early life in Númenor so I have a lot of these random moments waiting to be finished :D

“Tar-Elendil, the fourth king, was succeeded by his son Tar-Meneldur, though his daughter Silmariën was the elder." - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King, footnote to "Appendix A: Annals of the Kings and Rulers" "Meneldur was the son of Tar-Elendil, the fourth King of Númenor. He was the King's third child, for he had two sisters, named Silmariën and Isilmë. The elder of these was wedded to Elatan of Andúnië and their son was Valandil, Lord of Andúnië, from whom came long after the lines of the Kings of Gondor and Arnor in Middle-earth. Meneldur was a man of gentle mood, without pride, whose exercise was rather in thought than in deeds of the body. . .All that he could gather of the lore of the Eldar and Edain concerning Eä and the deeps that lay about the Kingdom of Arda he studied, and his chief delight was in the watching of the stars." - J.R.R. Tolkien, Unfinished Tales, "Aldarion and Erendis: The Mariner's Wife"
[ID: an edit composed of four posters in muted shades of brown, red, and greenish hues. Each poster is framed on two sides by two brown stripes, the thinner of which is patterned--together they create a frame around all four images.
1: Anugraha Natarajan, a tamil indian model with brown skin and dark hair. She is draped in a dark veil embroidered in gold and wears a jeweled headpiece. Her gaze is on the viewer though her head is turned slightly to the side. Green and brown text reads "silmariën," "princess," and "maiden garlanded with shining light" / 2: Several richly decorated arches in a classical indian style, held up by dark columns between which other arches can be seen. Text reads "the could've-been queen" / 3: A classical indian palace seen through a window, the towers vivid against the sky. Text reads "and the king who was" / 4: Anthony O. Gomes, an indian model with brown skin, dark hair, and a beard. He is seated on the ground, wearing a black shirt resembling a starry sky, white silk trousers, and silver jewelry. He looks earnest and serious and lifts a handful of pearls. Text in the same arrangement as Image 1, though on the opposite sides, reads "meneldur," "polymath," and "servant of the heavens" //End ID]

ATLAS OF ARDA ⇢ THE REGIONS OF NÚMENOR
The land of Númenor resembled in outline a five-pointed star, or pentangle, with a central portion some two hundred and fifty miles across, north and south, and east and west, from which extended five large peninsular promontories. These promontories were regarded as separate regions, and they were named Forostar (Northlands), Andustar (Westlands), Hyarnustar (Southwestlands), Hyarrostar (Southeastlands), and Orrostar (Eastlands). The central portion was called Mittalmar (Inlands), and it had no coast, except the land about Rómenna and the head of its firth.
