Like, I’m proud of you for eventually getting there but Merlin did it take a while,” Lila teased, nudging the other. “My younger self would be so proud that I’m an out and proud lesbian who finally cut and bleached her hair.” It was nice to think about, how far she’d come since she’d been kicked out of her family home all those years ago. “You’re still a badass even if your secret comes out. You know that, right? That doesn’t take away from you being this awesome person, Nova.”

“I don’t think my secret would make me any less badass, maybe would make a bit more of a badass. I am thinking about the legal consequences of burning down a building.” Nova reminded the other. “I work at the ministry and if they found out, I would be jobless and most likely homeless.”

“Or when you just… don’t want to.” Erin replied. The words ‘couldn’t’, or ‘can’t’ also sprung to mind, but she figured saying that would have just brought down the mood. “See? This is why we make such good mates.” She grinned, before waving off Nova’s last suggestion. “I’ll just cast a muffling charm. Or apparate, but last time I did that drunk, I landed on my dresser, so maybe not.”

“Yeah, sometimes you don’t need any real reason to drink.” Nova agreed. “Oh geez, just make sure you don’t tell anyone you were with me if you come bumbling into your place. I don’t want to go down under with you.”

Don't we all? I regret burning down that building. Terrible mistake.

I don't think so. I don't think anyone has caught those feels for me for their heart to break.

I am insecure about how I acted when I found out my dad died during my first few years at Hogwarts. But that time has passed, so maybe I should stop worrying about it.

Pretty decent. If someone wants to say something nice, I am all for it. Just don't expect one back.

The fact that I don't really care. I think a lot of people care too much. I don't.

Nova looked at herself in the mirror before leaving out the front door. “I am now. but i don’t know, golf always seemed so stuck up. But I am sure we can make it fun. We make everything fun.” 

“Hey, you ready to go?” Pippa asked, smiling as her girlfriend opened the door. She hadn’t been on lots of dates recently but she liked the idea of going with Nova a lot. It made her feel all fluttery, or maybe that was the hunger, “I can’t believe this is you first time mini-golfing. I mean I know it’s more of a muggle thing but still.”

“Civil sounds like a nice medium ground.” Nova nodded. “I’m glad you notice that I make her happy. It’s nice to hear that. She is such a lovely person, she does deserve it.”

“We both quit actually, but it only stuck for one of us. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t tell Octavia that, though.” Erin replied. Sometimes she really appreciated Nova. Friendly enough that they could chat for a while, but not so close that she tried to get involved in Erin’s business. I mean, come on, she practically offered. “Fuck it. Make it two and you’ve got yourself a deal.”

“It’s hard to be committed to stop drinking, especially when there’s external bullshit all over the place.” Nova commented. “A bottle each? I am down. Just make sure you can easily sneak back home.”

“Well then that’s settled. I’ll go back to acting like my typical prick.” Nova teased. “But I am glad to hear that you can see your sister happy.”

I’d be disappointed if you hadn’t shown that side of yourself to her,” she said, nodding at the implied remark. Lila motioned zipping her lips closed, “Your secret is safe with me.”

“It’s not. You know, I saw a thing on the internet that mentioned how impressed our younger selves would be with us now. I mean, I am finally in a relationship with a girl. Took long enough.” Nova commented. “Yeah, it is good. Don’t want to lose the bad ass version of me.”

“She didn’t, and then she did, and now she doesn’t again.” Erin explained with a small shrug. “Oh come on, it is fun. And it’s not like they’re going to hear you.” She pointed out. “I’ll share a shitty co-worker story if you share yours.”

“So it’s like a promise you won’t do it again but you do it again type deal?” Nova commented. “I am down, but only over another bottle of wine. You don’t have to join with me drinking it though.”

“Yes I have, but in this case, I have been so busy I forgot.” Nova replied. “But as my girlfriend’s sister, I know I must apologize.”

“Alright– hey!” Pepper complained, trying to keep from getting hit in the face as the other passed her by. “Watch where you’re going! With all this stuff you’ve got, you’re a walking safety hazard. Ever heard of putting an extension charm on your bag?”

“Oh, right.” She replied. Nova worked in some Ministry department, didn’t she? Erin didn’t remember. “I’m fine, I’m just… I’m trying sober up before I go home, actually, so if you want to complain about your new co-worker, I promise I’ll try and listen.”

“Do your housemates know you’re drinking again?” Nova asked. “It’s okay, they’re just such a know-it-all. But the new and improved Nova shouldn’t really be bashing people. No matter how fun it is.”

“I was just talking about the new co worker at my job.” Nova reminded the other. “But I guess that’s not as important as you spacing out, you ok?”

The lull in conversation had lasted for just that little bit too long that, even in her somewhat inebriated state, Erin realised that something was wrong. She looked up, to see the other person looking at her expectantly. “Sorry, I- uh, I completely spaced out there. What was it you were saying?”

Nick groaned, putting his hand back on the table. He should had figured out that his attempt at covering his face would not be inconspicuous. “I guess I was just hoping people are still half asleep and would not think twice about looking at me,” he explained.

“That’s rather hopeful.” Nova pointed out. “So what happened? Got into a fight with a cat and they won?”

“Yeah,” Nova nodded as she glanced at the other, noticing the huge bruise on his face that he was trying to cover. “I am guessing you don’t want to talk to anyone with that big bruise. Maybe you shouldn’t make it so obvious though.”

Being headbutted by a rowdy Mooncalf would not be as bad if Nick hadn’t have to be at the Ministry first thing in the morning. When he woke up and saw a huge bruise on his face, he didn’t have the time to take care of it. He decided to grab a coffee on his way to work, hoping he would not meet anyone he knew, but of course he was not lucky enough. He was munching on his blueberry muffin when he heard his name. He quickly raised hand to cover his face and smiled awkwardly. “What’s up? I’m all good, very busy, totally in a hurry, so maybe we could catch up later?” He rambled.
