Viber has now made it clear that it eavesdrops on all calls and "private" messages that goes through on their app. Just a heads up.
Excerpt: "We have renamed the ‘Viber Public Content Policy’ the *‘Viber Acceptable Use Policy’* to make it applicable to all content made available through Viber, including through the Viber App, Viber API, Chatbot, Communities, Channels, etc.
Zero-tolerance policy for violent extremism or terrorism content and prohibit terrorist organizations or hate groups to use our Services, post content, sell or buy any goods, or communicate through our Viber App. *HATE SPEECH content is strictly prohibited"* (we now know what this means, don't we?)

# **SHTF at the Equator**
**We just got hit by the strongest typhoon (local name: Odette) to hit our island in 30 years last Dec 16. The devastation in its wake was substantial: roofs, walls and entire houses blown away, uprooted trees and utility poles blocking streets, water and electricity down, plenty of closed shops, very long queues to ATMs, gas stations, supermarkets, etc.**
**When talking to a neighbour who has friends in the Pacific-facing islands of Samar and Leyte (the two most typhoon-ravaged islands in the PH), I learned that most people there are preppers without even calling themselves preppers. They have at least 2 weeks worth of drinking water and food at all times, and a jerry can or two of fuel squirreled away as well. Fuel is one of my overlooked preps. I now have a measly gallon of premium gas in the garage after lining up for 4 hours last Sunday on my motorcycle. This would probably last me for only a week. Hopefully, power will be back so some more gas stations can be operational by then. Now we have long queues for everything. And a liter of drinking water has shot up to over a dollar. The prices of everything have increased by a lot.**
**Another thing that would really come in handy would be at least 3 or 4 100W solar panels to run the ref or freezer during the daytime. People throwing away food gone bad has become a common sight these past few days.**
Additional note: only about 10% of electric power is back. Internet access, sketchy at best. Might take until mid-Jan 22 to be back on track.

China has no solution yet when its leading e-commerce businesses keep getting shut down by Amazon (Vid 15:13)
China's "2020 Cross-Border Export E-Commerce Industry White Paper" shows that China's cross-border e-commerce in 2020 amounted to 265.4 billion US dollars, of which 188.5 billion was for exports, accounting for 70 % of total imports and exports. Data from China's National Post Bureau shows that by the end of 2020, parcels sent from China accounted for more than 60% of all cross-border e-commerce parcels worldwide. Is this Amazon's patriotism kicking in? No. It's just Amazon protecting its reputation and, ultimately, it's bottom line.
