Hiatus Notice

I know, I know.

Muse has been sluggish and slow on this blog for a while, now. Since last February, actually, when I posted this.

But I’m finally throwing in the towel and putting these guys on official hiatus. Maybe they’re just tired from two VERY active years on here. Maybe because I’ve explored the story I wanted to tell with them there’s not much left to do. Maybe I just have stronger muse on my other blogs and much more constrained time due to college.

Any which way, I hope this won’t be the last of these two on Tumblr. They’ll still be around, in my comic and writing -- I have way too much to tell about them there, in their own world with their versions of Eclipse and the Freedom Fighters and the kids. But for the multiverse... not right now.

I guess for now, I’m going to say they feel they’ve gathered enough knowledge and resources to go back to their world and focus all of their efforts there. Doing the best hero’s walk they know how, and learned from the help of their new friends.

You can still find me on my active blogs, most of which still follow the story of their world, just not from their angle. So, if you want to go looking:

FreedomFighterFCs is the comic detailing how the resistance came back from the brink of extinction

StolenSpeed is an RP blog exploring why Sonic has not returned to his role as the Hero of Mobius (and currently my strongest muse)

EssenceOfTerror (no link due to sensitive content) is the villain and while not. SUPER active atm will have an interesting story thread some time in the future that some of you may want to see.

And StreetPsychologist has no relation to the story but is my OC and my RP blog so some of you may still have some interest

Yellow eyes widened as she jumped down from her perch with surprising quietness, but slowed a bit when the hedgehog was saved from certain death. Well…almost.

"Oh geez, hang on there…” Rei said, reaching down and offering a hand to the mobian as she looked to the bat.

“Station Square? I mean…we have Times Square. Does that count, ese?” the mecha turtle tried, head tilting tilting to the side a little as she spoke. These two…clearly weren’t from here. At all. That was becoming evident the more moments of exposure passed between them.

The inverted soldier graciously took the hand of the robot(?), managing to climb back onto the building as he continued to massage his bruised temple. The metal arsenal felt... wistfully familiar, despite the feminine vocal track and improper Spanish -- unless they assumed Rouge was a man.

“ It’s a translation error. Like how English speakers call China ‘China,’ but in Chinese it’s ‘Zhong-something.’”

The spy shrugged and nodded affirmatively, fairly satisfied with her partner’s explanation even if their robotic savior wasn’t. She smirked, stretching to crack her knuckles outwards as she leaned against the building.

What was more unexpected than the comment that had come from his lips was that Rouge had been more than willing to jump on it. Had it really been that long since they had last seen each other that he forgot the way the spy could somewhat be quick to pounce on something and work it in her favor.

Not that she was having to do much as Light had been considering it the more things he found, but still. He was a little taken aback at just how quickly she was willing to give him advice, watching her land and the holo screen coming to life. It wasn’t long until the topaz eyes were scanning the entire map, committing it to memory and filing the other’s words right along with it.

An extreme gear board would make travel so much easier, but they were built with trackers and registered, and that wouldn’t do if he was planning to go off grid unless he could rewrite their software. Maybe if time warranted it the soldier would give it a shot, but for now. Most focus would be on getting the laptop he wanted built to be able to access files and different servers without alerting anyone and maybe starting a little stock pile of provisions. For a brief second, a grimace and wince flashed across Light’s face.

“I-I’d have a better chance with sticking with the forest and heading towards Soumerica. This way there would be chances for me to gather natural supplies when whatever I had with me ran out and if I really get desperate, I can raid a supply facility.” Using his organic hand, a path from where the city would be located was traced in a southeast direction. “I stand a better chance than most out there. I just need to do a bit more planning….”

He paused and looked between the two, a moment hesitation before he asked. “C-can we stay in contact? After I mean… I know it would be too dangerous with me still here, but…”

Was that too much to hope for?

The hybrid’s wince was met with a cocked eyebrow from the bat, but she elected not to say anything. Even if she was privately speculating as to the cause.

“ You could also go due south, cross the Blue Marine Strait to get to Soumerca. That’s probably a port town, though... I dunno, you’ll have to grab a population map and decide if you want to take the time and energy to weave around cities and villages. ”

She did have a slight ulterior motive for suggesting the change of route... And it had everything to do with a certain off-the-grid settlement that was directly in the way of Light’s projected path. The group living there wanted to keep it as secret as they could, and the traveling pair was going to do their damnedest to oblige. So much so that even though there was one way to contact them... the spy wasn’t going to give out that information freely.

“ We’ve tried having a communicator; had some trouble keeping it in one piece. We’ve trashed, what, three of them in the last four months? ”

Rouge turned to her striped partner still peeking out the cracked door, Shadow offering only a noncommital hum in response. Clearly he wasn’t paying attention, or wanted to give off that impression. The bat rolled her eyes with a smirk, turning back to Light.

“ We don’t exactly have allies to keep in contact with anyway, so we’ve been operating without one. ”

While the small little attack did wonders to get the raptor looking spawn off his tail, the large appendage still snapped out of instinct as Volt had noticed the small bolt that was sent towards it, it wasn’t until his glowing amethyst eyes spotted the puff of smoke that his tail made quick work of that he realized the little attachment. And flushed softly in embarrassment while listening to Blush speak.

“Yeah. I caught that much. You got planet side first and Nebula followed.” Volt looked back and forth between the two. They had a small reprieve before he could lead them to the next section of town and reached out to carefully hold onto the spy’s arm. Knowing all too well that the large form gave him an increase in strength, the last thing they needed was him squeezing too tight to hold her in place.

“Blush… What’s up? You’re never this quiet.” A brief pause as the werehybrid’s eyes shifted from the pair towards the hospital, taking in Nebula’s agreement with a subtle nod of his head, ears folding back. “She’ll probably be awake. At night is when she has the most trouble breathing.”

Full on concern flashed across his face, Volt turning once more to look at them and seemed to plead to be let in on what was nothing them. There had to be a reason for the way Blush was acting and it was worrying. Not to mention that negative emotions only fed the creatures around here and the more the spy was going to let whatever it was eat at her, the stronger those things were going to be. A part of the transformed hybrid worried that they might have to face a titan with how much everything had been building up that day on top of the high emotions that were there now.

“Talk to me.”

“ I ᗩᗰ ᑎOT ᑫᑌIᕮT, YOᑌ ᗩᖇᕮ ᑫᑌIᕮT... ”

The somewhat sullen mutter was given as Volt and Nebby exchanged words, the bat tugging at her captive arm as she turned her face away. She dropped her head back, rolled it to one side, generally avoided any kind of eye contact with the hybrid before finally sighing.

“ IT IS ᑎOTᕼIᑎG. I ᗩᗰ ᗪOIᑎG ᗩ ᒍOᗷ I ᗩᗰ ᗩᑕTᑌᗩᒪᒪY GOOᗪ ᗩT, I SIᗰᑭᒪY ᗯᗩᑎT TO ᑕOᗰᑭᒪᕮTᕮ Tᕼᕮ ᗰISSIOᑎ. ”

Her partner for once was silent, eyes softening from their playful overtone as he glanced her up and down. Blush tried another tug on her arm as she kept her head turned around, ears perked and searching for any sound of forming Gaia monsters.

If the Eggman Empire had taught her anything, it was how useful it could be to channel your hatred and frustration into your targets, regardless of if they were the source or not.
