3. Bringing flowers or other tokens of affection to the first date.

4. Going dancing that’s not grinding on a grimy club floor.

5. Straightforwardly asking someone out and not calling it “hanging out.”

6. Additionally, being clear about when you’re “going steady.”

7. Romantic gestures like writing poems.

8. Turning electronics off and just being with one another.

9. The general concept of asking permission for things.

10. Not assuming sex is to be had at any point in time.

i stare at boys so much how do they not notice

I feel like one of the greatest conquests of the english language is the phrase ‘I’ma’ because it’s an abbreviation for ‘I am going to’ like we managed to subtract all the spaces and three-fourths of the letters and we still know what it means that’s powerful

Add "of this most recent generation of" to "straight boys" and "who are raised in a culture that not only dismisses sexual harassment as jokes, but also this generation of girls, regardless of sexual orientation, who are raised to believe that sexual harassment is a joke or something to be dismissed, otherwise they should be told that they can't take a joke or are frigid bitches." And you've got this down pat.

straight boys think girls can’t take compliments, and that’s ridiculous cause i’ve seen so many girls compliment each other, i’ve seen conversations & friendships blossom from girls complimenting each other in line, on the street, at school waiting for the bys, pretty much anywhere.

the problem is straight boys think sexual harassment & assault are compliments.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like

“How did a milkshake manage to develop a gravitational pull that was gender specific?”

There are few things in this world I hate more than fake pockets. Honest to Christ.

Realizing you have homework

Do not teach your daughters to be ‘pretty.’ Do not entomb her in a pretty pink tower and insist that only the degree of her physical appeal may set her free. Teach her to fight her way out, to consume books and spit knowledge to lesser boys who insist she is just beautiful and nothing more. Teach her to love her body not to manipulate and put a price tag on herself as a defined worth she shall be immeasurable she shall be more than this. Do not let her break herself down when the boy in kindergarden hits her because he likes her. What are you really teaching her? Pain and love are not synonymous neither are pretty and perfection. Teach her to be kind to be harsh to be demure to be wild to be sensitive to be thick-skinned But good god, Do not teach your daughters to be ‘pretty.’
