For the trope mashup game! Could we have magical accidents and first time? Sesskagu, of course 💖💖
inspirational track: lay all your love on me
It was hard to say, whether this current problem was worse than that which had been his original problem. As with most conflicts, it really depended on who you asked.
As for what Sesshomaru himself thought, well - he would keep that particular opinion to himself.
-
The first problem that he had seen as a problem, had actually arisen from a good thing. One of the best things to happen in the past few years, if you asked those who Sesshomaru had hesitantly accepted as his comrades:
Kagura had resurrected.
She'd been given a life, and a properly-beating heart, by the gods themselves. In exchange, she was tasked with maintaining all winds in the sweeping territory of the West, where many demons of her element apparently refused to go.
The rest of them are scared of you, she told him with a cheeky grin. Kagura always referred to others of her kind that way - 'them', not 'us'. Even though I said there's nothing to worry about.
Having such a responsibility didn't seem to bother her, thus Sesshomaru didn't have a reason to be concerned. And in his estimation, the two of them didn't actually cross paths that often.
But in every instance where they did meet, no matter how brief, a…disturbance soon followed.
It's a hot day when Sesshomaru catches her at the top of a hill, close by Rin and Kohaku's village. He's chasing some blood-stained scent, while she is catching the barely-there summer breezes in her sleeves. The stretch of skin on her sun-browned forearm, usually hidden behind layers of fabric, plays in the corner of his eye. She sits up when he passes. Maybe she expects him to address her. But Sesshomaru simply turns his head, and continues on…
He never made it to visit the children that day. Minutes later, the swords at his side had begun to shriek incomprehensibly; every attempt to pull them from their respective scabbards resulted in a sharp sting, uncomfortably similar to Tessaiga's vicious shock. Only after hours had passed (and Kagura had left) did they finally calm.
Audacious little witch, she sits on his windowsill with her legs crossed neatly. Sesshomaru stares wordlessly at her in obvious distaste, but Kagura simply turns her face to the sky.
"Such a nice view is wasted on you," she sighs. The moonlight paints the curve of her cheek in silver-blue.
Sesshomaru turns over and closes his eyes. He won't care whether she stays or not.
In the morning, he awakened to find the room rent with deep scratches. The stench of poison remained, so strong that Jaken fainted as soon as he slid open the door. For the rest of the morning, Sesshomaru's hands remained in tense, gnarled fists. They curled even more tightly, at the thought of whether he would find Kagura on his windowsill again, sometime.
She's in the middle of redirecting a rogue storm, laughing so loud it rings deep in his ears; Sesshomaru kneels close to the ground and watches, silent. Kagura tosses a glance over her shoulder and mouths something he can't figure out, no matter how many times he replays it in his head…
An hour later, his demon form burst forth from beneath his skin, and he spent the night pacing on all fours in the dark. Every time he tried to push the energy back, all it took was the image of her wind-swept form to lose his grip again.
So - there it was, a problem. Obviously caused, or at least made worse, by Kagura's near-constant presence on his mind. But Sesshomaru had long handled concerns like this by either beating them into submission, or pretending there was not a problem at all.
Which is how he ended up with his second, some-may-perceive-to-be-worse, problem.
-
"You say you need something to control demonic energy?" Totosai blinked several times, as though by doing so it would clear the cobwebs out of his brain and allow him to fully grasp the situation. Gesturing to Sesshomaru's pair of swords and pieces of armor, he grunted, "Don't have much room left on your person for anythin'. You're a bit of a walking advertisement, at this point."
Sesshomaru let the corner of his mouth droop just the slightest bit. Sweat erupted across the old weapon-maker's brow.
"Well, alright. Let's see what I got that's small…"
After a few tense moments, Totosai lifted his head and shoulders from the depths of an old, worn-out chest with a handful of dark-colored beads. "Don't remember where I got these. They're supposed to help with…memory, or focus, or something like that?"
Sesshomaru nodded, and Jaken rushed forward with a haughty sniff. A coin purse hit the table with a heavy thunk, startling Totosai out of his rambling.
-
"Hey, Miroku, what's Lord Sesshomaru got around his neck?"
"To be honest, Shippo, I try not to look too closely at him, just in case it is taken as an offense."
"It looks kinda like - well, you remember that time you were at that village flirting with everybody?"
"…"
"And Sango kept getting mad at you?"
"…"
"And I said I had something that would help you stop thinking about girls so much?"
"Ah, yes, that village! I must admit, that necklace was a tad ridiculous but it did help, in its way. Why are you bringing that up now?"
"Uh, well…"
-
These were the facts:
He had come into the village to visit Rin. Kagura arrived shortly after, to meet with Kohaku.
She'd brightened upon seeing him and immediately started to tease. Attempting, as usual, to draw out a response, though he never knew what exactly she expected from him.
With every moment he had to look at her, breathe in her scent, restrain himself from reacting - the beads tightened around his neck.
The beads that, apparently, encouraged one's restraint through very public reminder.
As soon as he deigned to meet her eyes, the beads burst into cloud of bubbles. The air split with an embarrassingly loud alarm, before the jewels reformed around his neck once again. The whole charade deeply amused the demon-slayer's babies that clamored around them. (They were all too interested in the shiny things on Sesshomaru's person on a normal day.)
"What the hell?" Kagura's eyes widened at the display. She was not in awe of him, nor fearful; simply curious, which usually motivated Sesshomaru to hurry up and disappear immediately.
But the fact was, his demonic energy had developed at a level few living yokai could match. Ordinary beads, meant for repression of human desire, would simply fall apart when faced with such power. But some god somewhere had apparently seen fit to humble him. Instead of disintegrating, the necklace's magic went haywire.
More bubbles, growing larger and larger with every second that Kagura smirked at him. They enveloped the slayer's shrieking children, forcing their uncle to run about trying to keep them from flying away. The beads kept popping, forming and reforming at a ridiculous speed.
Kagura looked at him, one of the land's most fearsome creatures who usually exhibited nothing but the finest self-control, and laughed.
He did manage to flee, and would have gone all the way back to the very edge of the West. Was it not imperative to remove the infernal jewelry first.
"Look, I don't quite understand what happened today." Kagome said, coming to sit beside him. The red and white fabric of her priestess outfit puffed dramatically around her legs. "But if you want to talk about it I'm happy to listen."
Sesshomaru had no desire to do so. However, as things stood, his reputation had already been sorely affected. And he had not succeeded, in the end, of fixing his original problem.
"I heard those gave you some trouble?" Kagome pointed at the necklace, her nose wrinkling.
"Their true properties were not made clear to me," he muttered, restraining the urge to rear back as his sister-in-law attempted to untangle the beads. At least there was no chance of them malfunctioning around her.
"I figured. What did you think they were supposed to do?"
"It is not for a human to understand."
"Oh, come on." The necklace unwound from his neck to settle heavily in Kagome's palms. She flinched, as Sesshomaru's now-unrestrained demonic energy rippled freely through the air. "They don't look quite like subjugation beads…"
"It is not to control one's body, so much as one's mental state." Maybe if he kept talking, it would keep his mind off the wind witch, and thus he would not transform in front of his brother's bride…
"Are you trying to stop thinking about something?"
He made a sharp motion with his chin that she thankfully accepted as a response.
"Something that has to do with Kagura, right?"
Again, his version of a nod.
Kagome's face scrunched up. It was obvious that she was trying to choose her words carefully. Most people did, around him.
"You know, Lord Sesshomaru, sometimes pushing our feelings down makes them come out worse than if we'd just said them in the first place."
And as if on some kind of cue, a gentle breeze swept around them.
-
He found her in the forest. Even with all the shadows around, her eyes were bright when she turned to meet his gaze.
"So, what was all that? Did the kitsune successfully prank you for once?"
Sesshomaru stepped closer. One hand moved, slowly like in a dream, to rest on her shoulder. Since she resurrected, he had not been able to touch her.
She stepped closer, until her own hand rested on his other arm. For the second time that day, energy rippled through Sesshomaru's bloodstream. Like the pain of being struck, except…he could not explain it.
But for the first time, beneath his grip, he sensed the air around Kagura shift, too.
"You're such a fool," she snorted, tossing her head so sharply that the beads of her earrings clicked against the side of her neck. "What's the point in holding yourself back?"
I didn't want you to see, he thought, knowing he would never be able to say it. Wondering if she might understand, anyway. In case you did not want me, the way I want you.
Her fingers climbed to the collar of his robe, where Totosai's ridiculous trinket had rested. Bakusaiga and Tenseiga sung her name, and she smiled like she could hear it, too.
"Nod if all this is because you want me."
Sesshomaru flinched. "What - "
The hand by his throat closed into a fist. Her gaze bore into him, strangely calm.
Stiffly, he inclined his head. The marks on his face burned, but it felt different than before, when he'd been so out of control -
"Finally."
She leapt up to push their mouths together; her other hand had somehow untied his pauldron without him noticing, and it fell to the ground. His back hit a tree with a loud crack. Wind crashed around them, howling, to cut off the rest of the world. For every spike in his energy, her own rose to match it.
"Let me help with your problem," she murmured against his mouth, robes pooling around her waist. "And then you can help with mine..."

ok so i’m a loser who got my numbers wrong, that last ask wanted Poorly Timed Confessions + Innocent Physical Contact so consider the last one a freebie.
ANYWAYS:
“How nice to have a body again!” Kagura stretched both arms out as though to embrace the wind circling her form. Nodding towards a smear of dark red on the grass, she asked, “What’s that from?”
Sesshomaru lowered Bakusaiga with a sigh. “That is what is left of the dark priestess that resurrected you.”
“Ah.” Kagura stuck her tongue out at what remained of the corpse. “That’s what the bitch gets for trying to use me to rebirth Naraku.”
The two swords in his possession rang with delight, and Sesshomaru found himself glad she couldn’t hear them, for how it might stoke her pride too much.
Her rubescent eyes flashed in his direction. “I see you haven’t changed much. What happened to - “
As Kagura turned to address him, her body’s newly reformed legs seemed to give out. While the wind slowed the force of her stumble, Sesshomaru still found himself moving forward to catch her.
“I take that back,” she chuckled, leaning her head back so as to avoid the sharp protrusions of his pauldron. “You’re a bit more forward these days.”
His jaw tightened with annoyance, both at her statement and at how tense her body seemed to become beneath his grip. How long would she be this weak, and what would she need, to gain strength? Had they been too quick to dispatch the dark priestess, after all? “This is not - “
“It’s fine. I don’t dislike surprises when it comes to you,” she snickered. “Don’t worry, this should only be temporary…”
Her joy, both at being alive again and at taking a joke at his expense, mixed with the errant dots of blood marking her face - it stirred something strange within his chest. An urge to say something, only he did not know what, as Sesshomaru had never experienced it before.
So, as with most things that he was unfamiliar with, Sesshomaru deemed it unimportant and elected to ignore it entirely.
At least, that was his intention.
-
For the next few weeks, Kagura spent as much time as possible out of doors, drawing power from her element. After much complaining, Jaken procured a steady source of food for her to eat throughout the day. Sesshomaru arranged several meetings with Rin and Kohaku, after noticing that the children’s presence brought more color to her cheeks and encouraged her eat more.
The agreement was clear: once she had regained her full strength, Kagura would depart to seek her own destiny. But, even with this knowledge always in Sesshomaru’s mind, it kept happening.
The touching.
Whenever the day was too dry and warm for the air to stir, she would grab his arm and whine about it. If he was too quiet for her liking, she would poke a finger against his cheek or forehead and demand he say what you’re thinking for once, moody bastard. If the night was nice and there was a fire to sit around, somehow her side would always meld with his.
He never initiated the interactions; nor did he reject them. Sesshomaru was simply aware of them, (too aware) and therefore suspicious of when or if they would cease.
The day Kagura successfully walked a reanimated corpse fifty yards, she threw both arms around him in excitement. At this point, she was well practiced in avoiding the danger posed by either his armor, his claws, and his swords.
“That proves it,” she hummed in his ear. “I’ve got full control of this body now.”
Like this, her scent overwhelmed his senses, and that was perhaps what shook loose the realization.
I do not want this to end.
-
“Where will you go first?” Kohaku asked her, cleaning centipede demon blood from the blade of his kusarigama. Kagura watched the steady movement of his hands with something like pride.
“Wherever direction the wind blows the warmest, I think,” she replied. “I don’t know the name of anything - oi, Sesshomaru!”
He turned halfway from the other side of the room, one eye still watching Rin hone the blade of her tanto sword.
“Which way is that?” She pointed one arm in the opposite direction of them both.
Sesshomaru stared at her for a moment, before looking away. “South.”
“South, then.” She turned back to Kohaku with a smile that seemed just a touch too wide. “Maybe I should leave tomorrow. What do you think?”
“Oh, please wait a bit longer than that!” Rin shouted. One arm wiped sweat from her brow, the other holding tight to her sword’s hilt. “It’s been so nice having you back!”
“We’ll all miss you so much, that it would always feel like it’s too soon,” Kohaku admitted.
Kagura rolled her eyes playfully and turned back towards Sesshomaru. “Huh, is that true?”
His eyes remained on that for which he could feel nothing - cold, shining steel. For once, she was too far away from him to touch him easily. Was it an intentional act - putting space between them, now that she had decided to leave? Or had he simply read too much into what had been innocent actions in the first place?
The feelings she had expressed so long before - perhaps, she no longer felt them, now that her situation was not so threatening and final.
“Yes.” He turned to meet her gaze. What was the point of being a coward, if her mind was truly made up? “It is.”
Kagura’s jaw softened, but to her credit she didn’t drop her eyes. Kohaku and Rin exchanged a look, as the silence stretched on and on.
“That’s poor timing,” the wind witch said finally. Both arms crossed over her chest stiffly. “Although it’s always been that way, with you.”
“If you expect an apology -”
“I don’t,” came the snapped response, as she rose to her feet. “Not that you’d give me one, anyway.”
As she stormed out, Rin held the tanto sword aloft, well practiced in changing the subject in times when Sesshomaru’s personality offended others. Kohaku frowned, but quickly picked up on the conversation.
-
“I’m heading South after all. Then East, I think.” Kagura shrugged one shoulder. “If I don’t return by next winter, you’ll have to assume I ran into trouble.”
The morning sun’s brightness burned Sesshomaru’s eyes, but he wouldn’t look elsewhere. Especially not at her.
“If I find something small the kids would like, I’ll try to bring it back. If I remember.” Whatever she was saying now was pointless, nothing he could commit to memory. What was the point of any of it?
Something cool brushed his cheek. He closed his eyes reflexively - her hand, smoothing over the demon marks and the scar from Rin’s first attempt at wielding Bakusaiga on her own. Then her scent surrounded him again - her arm wrapped around his shoulders, her mouth pressed to his.
“I will be back, you know. Stop moping, already.”
He opened his eyes to meet hers, dark and knowing and proud.
So the touches hadn’t been so innocent, after all.
He should have guessed as much.

SessKagu: Everybody Knows + Unexpected Virgin because I know what you want to give us and I also want it so hand it over pls and thanks 💜
In the middle of the woods, an odd collection of humans and demons sat around a blazing fire. The youngest ones - kitsune and plucky human girl - had already dozed off in a pile of warm blankets nearby. About ten minutes previous, their usual babysitter Jaken had stomped off into the dark in tears.
From the look of things, Inuyasha was about five minutes away from doing the same thing himself.
"Come on, Inuyasha," Kagome tsked, patting the hanyou on the arm. "Miroku's just teasing you. I'm sure Kagura and Sesshomaru really are just going off to talk."
"Ah, yes," the monk sing-songed. He had moved to the other side of the fire so as to be both a safe distance from Inuyasha's punching range and right next to his favorite woman (who, he was delighted to see, was holding back a chuckle). "The best time to talk is indeed in the middle of the night, under a sea of stars, and far away from your comrades. What else would a romantic setting cultivate, except...conversation?"
"Stop it," Kagome hissed, in a whisper that Inuyasha would have been able to hear even without his half-demon blood. "We're trying to cheer him up, not make him worse!"
"Feh," the hanyou spat, crossing his arms and glowering into the flames. "It's your fault for inviting them to go with us in the first place."
Heaving a sigh, Kagome leaned forward to hold both palms towards the heat. Sesshomaru's general attitude hadn't helped build Inuyasha's trust in him at all; and Kagura popping up every so often for bizarre conferences with the daiyokai, far away from camp, didn't help the tension.
At this rate, it felt like she hadn't seen him smile in days.
"We're all going in the same direction, anyway." Sango tossed a branch into the fire; the pops and crackles of heat biting into wood made Inuyasha's ears twitch. "With the same intentions. A bigger pack has a better shot of catching their prey, right?"
It seemed there was little to argue with in that statement; for just a moment, it seemed a bit easier to breathe.
Until Miroku leaned forward, eyes glittering with conspiratorial mischief. "But we're in agreement that there's something going on with those two?"
Kagome frowned, while Inuyasha snapped something that sounded like give it a fuckin' rest. The monk would have been disappointed had Sango not blushed and muttered, "Could they make it more obvious?"
"Right?! I mean, she never came around this often before. You wouldn't think them a well-matched pair, what with his cold attitude, but some women do enjoy a good chase!"
Across the fire, Inuyasha crackled the knuckles of one hand. "Keep talkin' about that, and Sango'll have to chase your head down the hill."
"Inuyasha, you know the more you react, the more he'll keep doing it," Kagome pointed out. It reminded her of Sota; sheesh, how sad it was that Miroku acted more fraternal to Inuyasha than his actual brother did.
"No matter how much Kagura teases him, he just lets it go," Sango added, tossing another stick into the fire and scooting closer to the heat. "And they always talk in private when she shows up. That has to mean something, doesn't it?"
"It means," Miroku said, clapping both hands together with far too much glee than the observation deserved, "that she has tamed him. And what, my good friends, is the easiest way for a woman to tame a man?" He leaned towards Sango, eyebrows wiggling. "Hmmm?"
"Sh, you'll wake the kids up." The slayer shoved him away, rolling her eyes. "Don't overdo it."
"They're the ones doing - "
"Shh!"
Inuyasha folded his lips inwards, forming a wiggly line. Then, to Kagome's surprise, he turned to her. "Do something!"
"Uh, what?"
"Talk some sense into 'em!" His voice sounded almost pleading, now. She felt a pang of sympathy for him.
It only grew greater, as the air above their heads chilled slightly, and the sound of a tree limb settling under the weight of a body met their ears.
"Who knew you all were such little gossips."
Miroku's face froze in a playful smile. Sango suddenly became very interested in the colors playing in the depths of the flames. Kagome grabbed Inuyasha's arm and pressed her full weight into him, to keep him from standing up and shouting at the wind witch now smirking down at them from her perch. Her fan, stark white in the dark, waved the rising smoke out of her face.
"I wish I was having as much fun as you think I am, monk," she called down. Tongue-buzzing (that was in very poor taste, considering Miroku's history with bees) carried over to her next words: "But unfortunately that dog doesn't like to learn any new tricks. Not that he even knows what he's missing."
The branch cracked, but she was gone before it could fully separate from the trunk of the tree and crash to the ground. Rogue wisps of air sent tiny sparks erupting up from the fire's glow.
"Doesn't know what he's - ah." Miroku said to himself, one hand settling against his chin. "So Lord Sesshomaru has never - "
"Regretted a decision more," came a low grumble from the nearby shadows, "than to journey forward with you."
The sleepless night that followed was, as agreed upon by all afterwards, quite uncomfortable.
But thanks to at least one brave monk and his admirable persistence (despite the near-constant threat of grievous bodily harm), fire-light gossip sessions would continue for months to come.

Soulmate AU + Pregnancy Fic (Sesskagu)
Though her time in existence has been short, Kagura is aware that humans and demons believe in soulmates.
She is also aware that she does not have one.
At the horrible moment where she was rooted to the spot, watching Muso come to his end, Naraku had proven that.
"That woman!" The incarnation had wailed and gnashed his teeth. "Kikyo - is she my - "
"Pathetic," Naraku jeered, as the screaming incarnation melded back into his flesh, "Just a lump of useless flesh and desire isn't enough. You'd need a soul of your own, first."
Because she tries not to think of that incident, Kagura doesn't think much of soulmates either.
-
"Lord Sesshomaru," Rin says, for the millionth time since they left Mount Hakurei, and he wonders what questions his surrogate daughter could possibly have left that neither he nor Jaken have answered. "That man with the purple tears was talking about soulmates. Do I have one?"
Why that damn assassin would speak of such things to a child is absurd. As he usually does with the questions he does not feel like answering, Lord Sesshomaru simply acts like he doesn't hear her.
"What happens when I meet my soulmate? How will I know?"
"Shut up, you stupid girl!" Jaken shrieks, even as he keeps glancing behind to check Rin has not been stolen from them again. "Lord Sesshomaru wouldn't know the answers to your silly questions, since he does not have - "
A sharp click of his jaw, and the kappa flings himself to the ground in reproach.
-
He'd asked similar questions, one time before.
His mother had replied matter-of-factly, that meeting their soulmate would leave a permanent sign on the person.
"Like a wound?" He said, and she cut him off with sharp noise.
"Something gained, not lost."
But other than his demon marks, and the tattoo of his family line, there is nothing Sesshomaru gains from dealing with others.
It doesn't matter to him, and thus he does not ruminate on it often.
-
The world turns darker, as Naraku claws more and more power from the half-made jewel. Kagura crosses paths again and again with the demon Lord of the West, and no matter what she does - call him a coward, kidnap his human pet, throw blades of wind so strong it must leave his lungs aching for hours afterwards - Sesshomaru never puts an end to her life.
It's as good a reason as any, when her master finally falls to the combination of the priestess' arrow and the hanyou's sword, to stick around.
Sesshomaru's lonely, anyway. Ah-Un stays with Rin and Rin stays in the village, after finding the mark on her back in the same spot where Kohaku's jewel shard left a scar on his own. Jaken is company but not good company.
Only Kagura, of all of Naraku's incarnations, remains.
What do you think keeps you alive, Kagome asks her once, curiously and not at all suspicious. Kagura thinks of miasma-stained flowers and gold eyes full of understanding, and does not have an answer.
She thinks she might know, once, when Sesshomaru's mouth brushes against her in the dark. But it's not something she would ever consider in the light.
-
Now, it's the tenth month after her life truly began. And instead of being somewhere interesting, Kagura's sitting in the freezing cold hut of a river-spirit midwife.
She ate less than an hour ago, and she's hungry again. Despite not caring much for meat in the entirety of her short life, all she wants is some kind of bloody flesh to sink her teeth into. Sesshomaru barely has to look in her direction before she's ready to rip his head off.
"Congratulations," the spirit simpers. And despite it all, Kagura's chattering teeth bare in a smile.
-
"Walking is boring," she snaps, tossing a gust of wind into the nearest tree. Sesshomaru doesn't react to the litany of cracking branches; as usual, his attention is entirely focused on her.
The mother of his child, Jaken says, sounding jealous and like he is mocking her at the same time. I suppose we won't be getting rid of you now.
"Regular exercise ensures your health," he says, reciting the words as though they came out of that stupid little scroll that the inane monk from Rin's village whipped out as soon as he'd heard. "And lounging about all day will merely make you restless."
"Whatever." She shreds another tree just for the sake of it. Despite what he thinks, Kagura would love to lounge for the next four months - eating whatever is at hand, wrapping herself in soft blankets, and gossiping. And Sesshomaru could just sit in the corner and watch her; it's all that seems to carry his interest these days.
Not that she's complaining. It's just weird, is all.
"You are not feeling ill," he says, making it sound more like a certainty thanks to his insistence that she walk regularly, rather than a question. Kagura sighs as dramatically as she can and mutters, "No."
She's lucky in that way, it seems. The priestess that she guesses would be considered her sister-in-law, in some manner of human custom, spent almost her entire pregnancy as sick as a dog. (A joke that was sadly unappreciated by everyone Kagura told.) Her half-demon husband had been beside himself with worry, and Kagura is fairly certain that Sesshomaru gets a smug sense of superiority that this is not the case for her.
Kagome's soulmate marks are on both arms, where someone's claws might dig in; and Inuyasha's is a line around the back his neck, as though a string tied around it was yanked quite hard. Kagura thinks about it often, even though it's not like it has anything to do with her.
Even though she shouldn't care.
"I want to go to the mountains to see the snow," she says. Sesshomaru's mouth firms into a thin line. Above them, birds screech in warning as more branches fall apart; Kagura starts to scream back, but holds her tongue fast between her teeth.
"Very well."
She grins wide. Sesshomaru's expression softens - so little a change that anyone who doesn't know him well would never notice - and she rewards him by pulling his arm to rest warm against her abdomen.
"I think they'll like the cold," she says cheerfully. "See, they're kicking because they're so excited."
Sesshomaru shifts his hand a bit, chasing the baby's movement. Fondness for the both of them hits her like a weapon's strike; soulmates aren't that interesting, anyway, she thinks, watching lines of amusement form around his eyes. I'd still choose you even if I had one.
-
Jaken can't say for sure that neither of them are aware. He only knows what he thinks, and what he believes neither Lord Sesshomaru or the stupid wind witch Kagura would bother to think.
For example, Totosai himself said that Lord Sesshomaru's heart was changed, by compassion for another. Why his Lord would have been affected so by someone as annoying as Kagura, rather than a faithful and eternally loyal companion, is a mystery. But the point remains, nonetheless.
Kagura, as well, still walks around making a problem out of everything despite the fact her master and creator is long dead and gone. Though Jaken doesn't have the nerve to ask Lord Sesshomaru if there is an actual heart in the witch's chest at this particular point in time (they're all much too focused on the baby and its associated organs instead) it certainly makes sense. Where else would she be keeping it?!
In summary: while it is rare for humans, due to their incredibly fragile bodies, Jaken knows of many demons whose soulmate marks don't show on the outside. Who would want to advertise such weakness to all of one's enemies?!
He considers bringing it up only a single moment. The mood was perfect - a gorgeous sunny backdrop, his Lord maintaining a neutral attitude, and Kagura hadn't dragged her sorry behind back from her lollygagging trip yet. Jaken had cleared his throat, readied himself to be recognized for his brilliance, and - was interrupted by the stupid wind witch's return, plus the announcement that she was carrying his Lord’s heir. A new little soul, housed in her body until it was ready.
I don't see why you shouldn't be glad to hear about it, she'd said with a huge, foolish smile. But if that is the case, then I'll keep it for myself.
You always say pointless things, Lord Sesshomaru had said back, before reaching for her in a manner that always sent Jaken fleeing the room.
Bah! Even recalling it annoys him. Let them figure it out for themselves, after all.
There's too much else to do before the baby comes.

*Small rant about Sessrin being canon* Please ignore this post if you are pro sessrin.
People keep saying Sessrin is canon because of Rumiko Takahashi's involvement in the Yashahime sequel.
Did she design Moroha, Setsuna, and Towa? Yes but she also designed the characters for the Inuyasha video games and those are not canon. She also designed the twins without a mother in mind so no, she did not know they would be Rin's children.
Tumblr media
She also drew a "sessrin" family to promote the Yashahime series but that doesn't mean anything either.
Tumblr media
She drew this image to promote the first Inuyasha film when the movies are considered not canon.
Tumblr media
There's also the fact that she stated that she saw Sesshomaru as Rin's hogosha (guardian) in an interview.
Also nothing in the original manga implied that there was romance between them, even at the end Sesshomaru was still looking after Rin by sending her gifts such as a kimono in the last chapter (558.)
Tumblr media
And as much as I love Rumiko Takahashi, she has her flaws and was likely only in on the idea of a sequel for the money. You can argue that the sequel wasn't that successful but tons of new merch was made in celebration for it and attention was brought back to a series that died in 2012. I'm sure she made a profit from this dumpster fire.
This will probably be my last post on the Yashahime series so thanks for reading. Feel free to add anything if you want.

“Sesshomaru was just a friend to Rin” Sesshomaru being a father / authority figure to Rin throughout the ENTIRE Inuyasha series: Episode 44. Kaijinbo’s Evil Sword: When Sesshomaru lifts Goshinki’s head with one arm, Rin starts screaming excitedly, like the little girl she is. Then Sesshoumaru tells her to keep quiet, so she immediately obeys. Here we see how much authority Sesshomaru has over her. And we’ll see it over and over again, as this is the way most of their interactions are: he orders and she obeys.
Tumblr media
Episode 45. Sesshomaru Wields Tokijin: When Sesshomaru senses someone’s presence (Kagura) he orders Rin to keep still. And she is so young she understands it literally, so she stands right where she is.
Tumblr media
It is only when Sesshomaru has finished talking to Kagura (another adult) that he tells Rin she can move again. And she obeys immediately. Again, Sesshomaru and Rin’s interactions are those of an adult in authority over a child he cares for.
Tumblr media
Episode 52. The Demon’s True Nature: I love this scene. When Sesshomaru returns from stopping Inuyasha (who had turned into a full demon), Rin cheerfully welcomes him, as she always does when he arrives. And he asks Rin if she has been good. And she’s so young she even includes Ah-Un in her answer (who, by that time, has become her watchdog).  This scene makes me think of a father who returns from his job and is greeted by his daughter, whom he left with the babysitter (Jaken) and asks her if she has been good. For me, this scene completely establishes Sesshoumaru and Rin as father and daughter. I can’t imagine two “friends” interacting like this.
Tumblr media
Episode 66.  Naraku’s Barrier - Kagura’s Decision: This is another scene that reminds me of a father taking care of his daughter. Rin stays behind because she wish upon a star, so Sesshoumaru tells her to walk along with everyone, like any parent would. Once again, Rin immediately obeys.
Tumblr media
Episode 79.  Jaken’s Plan To Steal The Tetsusaiga: Sesshomaru listens to Rin’s stomach and encourages her to look for food on her own (To me, this seems like a father trying to encourage independence in his daughter). And she, again, says “all right” without question.
Tumblr media
But Sesshomaru doesn’t send her alone, he orders Jaken (the babysitter) to go with her and help her, and they take Ah-Un, so she doesn’t get tired of walking. Sesshomaru actually cares about her safety and well-being, like any parent would.
Tumblr media
Throughout the entire series, Sesshomaru acts the same way a father figure would: he provides protection, gives her instructions, makes it easy for her to find food, gives her clothes, shoes, a safe place, a babysitter, and even a pet. In a way, Sesshomaru gives her a family and he continues to care for her even years later. Rin goes from being a child who suffered abuse and malnutrition to looking happy and healthy. A grown man who does all this for a child, cannot be seen as someone who, at least in part, supported the raising of said child?
Tumblr media
At the end, we finally find out how much Sesshomaru loves Rin (who has always been just a 7 year old girl). So, Would it be logical to think that someone who is only a “companion” can feel that love? For me, if an adult does all this for a child and it´s also clear that he loves that child, the healthiest thing would be to think that he sees her as his own child. Not as a future wife. I don’t understand how anyone could have seen a potential romance in all of this.
Tumblr media
By the way, I love this scene, because they also include Kohaku, another human child that Sesshomaru cares for, indicating the way both children have influenced him and how through them he, who has had “problems” with his own father figure, can take on that role and grow and develop tremendously as a person and as a character.
