Oh my gosh, I forgot about the connection between CC’s Appear and NT’s Animate! They might have tried to define it as “to become clearly visible”, but those baked goods were coming to life!

Ahh, I knew this chapter reminded me of a CCS episode. Yes, now I remember the Jump’s capture.

To be honest, I never even thought of Kaito being the Eriol-esque character in terms of wreaking the havoc that Sakura needs to straighten out. But who else could be making this happen if it wasn’t him? Is this like Arc 4 New Trials where Sakura captures cards and Syaoran or Jinyu steal (or try to steal) them away from her once she does?

I was so mesmerized with Nakuru’s gown that I hardly even noticed Suppi. I thought the butterflies were on the dress but that isn’t the case. The cover of the manga is hyping up the January 7th airdate. I can’t believe that it’s been over a year since the CC anime premiered and we still don’t have news about new episodes.

Only Sakura and Akiho can get excited over Alice in Wonderland pop-up books at their age.

Wow, it sure didn’t take long for the action to start.I think this is one of the few times so many civilians are seeing a dark force in action.

I love that we get to see Spiral in action! It really reminds me of the Twister in New Trials. Ummm... I don’t remember the Appear at all, even though I do remember the baking at school episode.

Oh my gosh, that drawing of Sakura holding hands with Syaoran while she’s in the air is so precious and it made my heart melt. I love these two so much.

Kaito laughing over Sakura’s misfortune seems out of step for his character.

So the new cards are needed to stop time. I’m definitely looking forward to what Jiri-chan is going to say about that because I’ve got nothing!

久しぶり = Long time no see in case someone is reading Jiri-chan’s post and didn’t Google Translate what she wrote about Rika. Totally agree.

Your comment about Syaoran’s opinion about a Kero-chan cake reminds me of Wish-chan’s latest instalment when Sakura was annoyed when Syaoran thought she drew Kero-chan instead of recognizing her drawing of teddy bears because she knew very well that Syaoran wasn’t Kero-chan’s biggest fan.

Well, Jiri-chan didn’t seem to shocked that Momo started to speak. And it’s clear that Akiho-chan has no idea.

I’m so glad that you’re so well-versed in CLAMP-verses. I barely remember Magic Knights Rayearth, Chobits and Kobato and I never touched anything else. It definitely does bring a whole new dimension to theory building.

What does “onmyoudo where shikigami exist” mean?

While I did wonder if Momo had a true form, I never even thought about the power source. Great observation!

I know this isn’t the first time we’ve had Akiho-chan grace the cover but this is the most stunning artwork that I’ve seen of her so far. Her eyes are gorgeous and they even match Momo-chan’s coller when you think about it.

It’s still such a mystery to me why Eriol and Syaoran (and even Kaho) are having private discussions behind Sakura’s back. Would she be in too much danger if she was in the know?

Oh my gosh, Eriol’s comment about those who have incredible powers can’t help but gather around Sakura is exactly what Syaoran told Sakura in New Trials when they were talking about Sakura’s star and the placeholders!!!

Kinomoto sibling banter is always fun. And it’s official: Fijitaka spends way more time away from home in CC compared to NT!

I really don’t know why Sakura is confused about Touya knowing about Kero-chan when he played a huge role in sustaining Yue.

I’m taking such a long time reading the manga that I don’t know if this is the first time we see Rika in the flesh. I guess it is. She’s looking lovely as usual.

When I made stuff in home ec I enjoyed them for myself. I still have the apron that I made when I was 14.

I guess that this is the first time we see Momo-chan talk. Was anyone back then surprised? Anime viewers were definitely spoiled in the credits even if they didn’t poke around online beforehand. I find Momo-chan’s attitude very Erika like from New Trials. There was a stray Author’s Note being surprised so I guess it was generally kept under wraps.

Okay, I like the way you described what Sakura was undergoing inside the Labyrinth as her special senses because it totally looked like she was being possessed, hahaha.

Japanese manga has led me to believe that everyone in Japan must be super nice and respectful towards one another. While there are careless and selfish all over the world, I still think it’s considerable lower in the East compared to the Westerners.

Frankly, I’m surprised that Syaoran doesn’t know about the Western magical society that Kaito could belong too because he was well educated in Clow and his ancestry. I guess I’m taking New Trials Syaoran for granted. ;-)

The way Kero-chan and Spinel are announcing themselves is kind of funny. I’m totally getting Team Rocket vibes!

Wow, I feel like it’s been forever since Sakura went on adventure with only Kero-chan and Yue. And we get Yue’s archery skills! What a treat!

If Yue’s arrow is looping around, is this new card a combination between the Loop and the Maze? I don’t like Zombie!Sakura...

Aww, the name of the card reminds me that I still haven’t watch Labyrinth and yet I consider myself a huge Jim Henson fan. -_-

Syaoran-kun! It’s always nice when he pops up. But does she always add the ‘kun’ to his name considering he just calls her ‘Sakura’ or is it the translation? Kero-chan popping out to wave to Syaoran is so adorable.

Kaito looks so... normal... in his Seijou High blazer.

Has anyone realized that Syaoran and Eriol have resorted to having a gossip shesh about Kaito?

You mentioned that Snooze was the Sleep counterpart, which was clear to all of us. I’m still surprised that the math teacher’s lesson on ‘equals’ didn’t lead to Sakura making the comparison between old and new cards like in the anime. But who does this think his students are? First graders? No wonder Kero-chan fell asleep.

I am SO glad that you pointed out that Kaito called Sakura ‘Kinomoto-sama’ because that makes her shocked behaviour a lot more understandable than simply being called, ‘Miss Kinomoto’.

It’s kind of strange to see Sakura in full costume without her Kero-chan counterpart. The outfit still looks great and it reminds me the most of the early years. I love that we get the staff but it’s strange how it isn’t attached to anything.

Is Sakura... swearing? What is she trying to say when Flight takes her on a joy ride?

Snooze will never stop being hilarious as a name for the card.

Kaito’s coat is gorgeous. It’s fun to see him in outfits other than his uniform. And CLAMP is always on point with outfit designs.

It’s slightly hard to catch, but Sakura wore a headband to school. It’s a cute look!

Cheerleader Sakura is so cute. It’s interesting to compare CLAMP’s cheerleading outfit and Wish-chan’s cheerleading outfit.

Chiharu is such an S&S shipper with the way she tells Sakura that she’s in even brighter spirits now that Syaoran was back.

HAHAHA, Touya’s costume is hilarious! The glomping kids are an added bonus.

What? I was not expecting this other dimension scenario!!!

Even though I never read TRC beyond the first chapter, the S&S separation made me think of that series too.

I wish the Flight didn’t have to be the only card with a personality. The show really missed out on bringing the other cards to life.

Ugh, I would hate it if Akiho turned out to be Sakura’s clone/reincarnation/future child. I really like her being her own person, even if she is Kaito’s puppet.

I never even realized that Sakura never officially captured the Flight “on screen” until you were really surprised to see it again. After taming the force, the concentration shifted on the Record so I guess the Flight was sealed shortly after. Now that I think about it, I’m surprised that Sakura didn’t seal both cards at the same time.

Sakura looks positively angelic! But is she wearing lipstick to bed?! Her eyelashes look enhanced as well...

Well, it was a nice date while it lasted!

I guess it must have been a long time since the anime aired because I have very little recollection of what card is this and what Sakura is going to do now that she’s isolated from Syaoran. Oh, that was fast. I wonder what Syaoran used to enhance his sword and magic.

I thought that this was the force that ruined the Daidouji property in the anime, but actually it was the one that interrupted Syaoran’s confession at the aquarium. And it captured Penguin-san or something.

Sakura and Akiho are such kindred spirits.

Haha, the Snooze looks like a dandelion seed in its true form.

I think the Flight is almost everyone’s favourite Card. It packs so much personality that it’s radiating hearts! And it opens the door to some beautiful artwork too.

You make a comment about Kaito not looking that much older than Touya. Good catch because later on in the anime we see him wearing the Seijou High School blue blazer that Touya and Yukito used to wear in CCS.

I wonder if the Alice in the Land of Clocks is the same as Lewis Carroll’s Alice. If that’s the case, then Akiho is just like us and she’s reading fanfiction!

After taking an unintentional break for the month of November, I’m going to try to post my book club thoughts on a weekly basis again. A part of me wondered if chapters 15 through 23 would be posted on the MangaHere site but it looks like I will have no choice but to read the RAWs (or whatever it’s called) once I get there.

Kaito is quite handsome. I can totally see why Akiho fell for him, especially when you consider the constant care he gives her and the proximity he has to her. I love that the cherry blossom tea pot that I commented on in my last post gets to make it on the cover. Of course his clock is in the background. He actually looks sweet and innocent on the cover. He never looks like that in that actual manga or anime!

The Invisible is a much superior name to the Lucid. Especially when we see that its true form is very HP Invisibility Cloak-esque. At least Sakura actually says the word “invisible”.

Has anyone read Artemis Fowl? There’s a Gnommish alphabet in the series. Each word represents a symbol and back when I was a big fan, I used to be able to read the runes fluently. That’s what Akiho’s book reminds me of.

Tomoyo talked about long-awaited dates for S&S when she convinced Kero-chan to leave them alone. Us NT fans know a thing or two about those! I like his “throwaway” line of how Suppi doesn’t return his calls.

I was expecting a trip to the aquarium so seeing the botanical gardens was a great surprise. Ahh, I can’t get over how adorable Happy!Syaoran looks like! The blushing is also so much fun.

Darn, I knew their peaceful time couldn’t last...

Did you get any further with the whole “D as a middle initial” thing?

So you think Akiho’s feelings for Kaito is closer to Sakura’s feelings to Syaoran rather than her feelings for Yukito? I don’t know what it is with CLAMP and their age gaps...

Does Akiho actually have magic or is she Kaito’s puppet?

I’m really happy that this dress made the cover. It’s my favourite one of all. I’m really missing the stars these days since I’m currently reading Arc 4 and Sakura is drawing her power from the moon. It’s nice to see Flight on the cover too!

I don’t understand what Yue means by “Wouldn’t it be nice if its master could view their surroundings without any screens?”. Like watching a video in 360 degrees mode instead of just being able to look at what the camera was pointing at?

The Record is so cute with its mechanical arm poised to take things down. Sakura looking at herself makes me think of the Twin!

I feel that this is the first concrete example of Sakura wishing for something only to have it come to fruition in card form. I don’t think I would have paid as much attention to this if it wasn’t for the anime.

Sakura asking Syaoran out was soooo cute!!! The way he smiled at her was everything and their mutual blushing was adorable.

And now we meet Kaito. It’s so insane how his name is ridiculously close to “Kaitou”. But maybe CLAMP was playing around with the whole thief motif. I never mentioned it before, but in a way he’s even dressed like the Kaitou Magician with his black ensemble.

How fitting that the cherry blossom tea was served in cherry blossom china.

I know Sakura is trying to be more mature, but I loved it when that Hanyan slipped out. But on the topic of funny sounds, I would think “Hoe” would be more embarrassing.

That library is gigantic. How anyone can get anything from the top selves is beyond me.

The chapter ends with missing books. Guess what, CCS:CC? Wish-chan already came up with the Invisible!

I love that even though we both suspected the Recording for different reasons (you were spoiled by the pages and I was informed by the anime), the Flight still manages to catch us both off guard.

What do you mean by extra omake with Syaoran and Eriol?! Where can I find it?!

I love how the cards having personality is so important for the viewers. I remember when we were watching the anime, the Flight became a quick fan favourite because Sakura was actually able to connect with it. So far she’s summoning up her other cards to do her bidding but there’s no connection. The fact that you were able to spot the card’s personality jumping right off the page goes to show how special it is.

CCS:CC Book Club - Ch 10

Oh look, it’s Touya, Yukito and Perro-chan! I love their outfits! It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve picked up the manga again so I actually forgot where Sakura slipped away. How awkward it must be to have dozed off in front of Touya and Yukito!

Tomoyo has the best hairstyles. The buns totally remind me of Princess Leia.

I hate to say it but being the cell phone charm is pretty much as low as it can get for the Guardian Beast of the Seal. At least when he’s Sakura’s maid he makes himself useful.

Dreams have always been a big part of CCS and Wish-chan is continuing that trend in NT. I’m glad that we’re delving deeper in CCS:CC.

Akiho has some serious self-esteem problems, doesn’t she? Why would she think that her singing may be annoying?

I love how Syaoran goes along with Tomoyo’s request to measure him. I just can’t see that happening back in the early CCS days. I think Sakura’s star costume is one of my favourites from CCS:CC. The best part is that the hair piece is very, very similar to the one that Wish-chan designed for Syaoran’s birthday gift to Sakura. Even Sakura’s dress is star-themed: http://fav.me/d8nz3vg

Syaoran’s new technique for releasing his sword is awesome. For some reason I was thinking that the card was The Record (since Sakura wan’t to take a picture of the moment earlier) but now I remember which force it is (even though I don’t even remember what it’s called anymore since I know it’s not Float and I’m guessing it’s Flight).

What?? She caught The Record? I guess I wasn’t as misled as I thought I was with all of the humming. I Googled the name of the card and it was The Flight!
